yes it been well documented over the years that the sound guy on the original dooms was influenced by groups like Metallica, Slayer, Alice In Chains, Stone Temple Pilots, all those metal and hard rock bands of the late 80s and early 90s. Not sure if he actually liked the bands, or just thought their style would fit the game. But his influence was so strong by them that some riffs/songs came off as blatant rip offs lol. Imitation is the best form of flattery right?

Oh, this takes me back to playing on the college's network right before Christmas break, trying to set up the network connections to fight each other in the hallways. I honestly can't tell you the hours I burned playing Doom over all, but I can tell you that I learned a lot about DOS in setting it up to play on my parent's 386DX-40 with 4 Megs of RAM.
