I graduated from Aransas Pass Tx, but I worked at Spaghetti Works my 9th 10th, & some of my 11th grade. During the spring & summer my friend Scott & myself would surf if there were any kind of waves at all, from the early morning until we had to go to work, at about 4pm or 5pm. I love that island. I graduated in 1990, & back then it was pretty expensive, but nothing like it is today. I now live on the Northshore of Oahu, where the land is one of the most expensive places in the U.S. & or maybe the world, at least that's what I'm told. Port A is the most expensive beach town from Texas to Alabama. The only states more expensive Than Port A. are Hawaii, California, New York City, & places like West Palm Beach FL. Port A now has $5-7 million dollar estates, something that was unheard of when I was growing up. It still my favorite beach town hands down in Texas. Lots of beautiful memories made there. It's crazy how fast time goes by. It just seems like it was 1988 & Scott Happy & myself were surfing Horace Caldwell pier & sometimes if we had the time & extra gas money we would go to Bob Hall pier. If I had one wish, it would be to go back to my youth be born to an upper middle class family & raised in Port Aransas Tx. Maybe own a small restaurant by the Pier for the surfers & maybe a trailer park, with used trailers & and a few tiny homes for the poor people. Yeshia bless you all peace & Love.
I have family members who work in Port A. One works in one of the night life locations, Lelo's. There is an alcohol curfew on the beaches from dusk to dawn, 8:30 p.m. to 6 a.m. Another relative works on one of the charter fishing boats. Another family member is active in the Community Theater and thanks for the shout out. Their musicals are really great for such a small group . You are right about the cost of housing there. One of them lives in Ingleside and the other one has one of those mobile homes. The rental houses and condos are out of the price range for most of the Port A workers. Absolutely beautiful area to visit.
I lived in a tent for a year then another two years in a trailer across from the Island grocery store. Ate a shrimp basket daily for $2.00. Caught flounder at ferry landing and served with guacamole. Brakes my heart to see what has become, not only there but, South Padre Island. First time on SPI, there were only two buildings o the island. The Miramar motel on the surf side and a bait shop on the bay side. What a change, Elon.
We go every year to Port A. San Juan's Mexican restaurant is good for breakfast, but crowded. also if you have kids, you should take the dolphin tour in the evening. The ride takes you out to the lighthouse and back. A lot of dolphins swim along side and in front of the boat, and like a foot away from the boat. Hurricane Harvey devastated Port A. But since covid, Port A is going thru major growth in new homes. Your right about the must stop at the coffee shop and the fudge.
There was a comment asking about Walmart in the area - in case you see this; there is not a Walmart on the actual island, but the closest (superior option) would be the HEB over at corpus. You can take the ferry (20 min) or the bridge (45 min) to get there. Fantastic options at both locations, the bridge location has more things though.
I'm from Vernon TX, and my husband and I go down to Port A every year, or at least try to. It really is a beautiful little island. Some places in the video were very familiar to me, especially Port A Pizzaria 😊
I plan on moving here in a couple of years once I’m retired from the Army. Wondering if you could give me some tips on employment, housing (rental or buy), and just the area in general. I’ve been to Port Aransas a couple of times but only spent a majority of the time at the beach. Didn’t really investigate too much on anything else while I was there.
You've found your answer, but yes - I definitely think Port A has the most authentic feel out of all three. Of course each has it's own pros and cons, maybe I should make a video of that. I've been making a list of vacation rentals in the area, these are the ones I can vouch for, so far realvacationrentals.com/
Bro I went to Tortuga's and got a fish sandwich... it was the worst fish sandwich ive ever had in my life. I asked what kind of fish it was they said swai catfish... boo! An and it was like $20. Def recommend virginias, fins, or black marlin
I actually had to go back and make sure I heard it correctly. Made me laugh, as noted it's not iga. I.G.A. is an acronym for Independent Grocers Alliance. Too funny...
Poor orientation. The majority of visitors (out-of-towners) arrive in Port A via the Ferry. This video should have started at the Ferry Landing. We did not know where we were at the start so we were disoriented through most of the video. We are winter visitors to Port A so we did recognize some spots, but our reference point is always back at the Ferry Landing. Thanks, would appreciate a 'do-over' from there.
If you could please hurry up on that do-over we are entitled to, It’s been a long time, we are still disoriented , we can’t use maps that’s why we take the ferry when everyone else uses maps and comes in on the highway. I’m sorry I must cut this short as I have to very nicely tell a barista they don’t know what they’re doing. (How am I supposed to figure out what Medicare part B replacement I accidentally switched to when the nice man called without a decent coffee).
been going there for 50 years. Love it.

I love this video bro. I appreciate you making this. Helps a ton for planning my second trip this September.

Great little island to vacation with your family! Planning on going back this summer!

Muito very lindo beautiful o the Port Aransas, lugares beautiful places lindos, casas lindas. beautiful houses.
Thanks for the video! Are there any places to sit on the patio and have a drink with a beach view?

I think you mean HEB at Aransas Pass, not Corpus.

Sure Josh, happy to help! I'll send my email here tomorrow

@@terrachristian5877 thank you 😊
The vibe in Port Aransas is the best out of the three.
@@amandalovestrey thank you 😊

Hurricanes issues?
My family rented that pink house on Park Place for vacation one summer and it was infested with bed bugs👀
What the name of the condominiums on minute 08:00?
Sandcastle
Do you still know someone that’s has a beach house for rent in June?
Sure do! I'm working on building a bigger list of some private owners, but this is the best I've come up with so far. realvacationrentals.com/

Absolutely!!
What is the best restaurant in port aransas?
That's definitely arguable, but typically I'll eat fresh fish from the market. If I had to pick a place to go, it would definitely be coffee waves
Virginia's on the Bay is the BEST. Great food, drinks and atmosphere.
Fins has great fried fish
The beach parking permits are $12.00.
For sure, gotta get those to park at the best spots!
Grocery Store is I G A not Iga lol
haha, wow I've always called it that!
I actually had to go back and make sure I heard it correctly. Made me laugh, as noted it's not iga. I.G.A. is an acronym for Independent Grocers Alliance. Too funny...
4,758 homes in port a in 2020
Absolutely crazy, doesn't seem like it to the eye
worked for people ready using Fema money to work on the Sand Castle
Nice place untill a HURRICANE HITS🥺
there are really only two things to do there.....drink and fish. They do a lot of both there.

You're 100% correct, and I appreciate the criticism. I'm going to be remaking this video from the Ferry, thank you so much Steve!!
@@IdealSpending Please consider it 'constructive criticism'. Would appreciate a notice when the remake is posted. Thanks
