I would love to see more fossil preparation in the longer format! This was fantastic and very therapeutic to watch. I wonder if a rock from a land slide event crushed and killed the crab before it became a fossil. I don’t think an animal like a seal, gull, or cetacean would have done it because there would have been more damage to the carapace and the crab would have been eaten. That’s why a land slide event is the best possible hypothesis for crab’s death.
Absolutely stunning crab. Wow. I liked watching you bring that crab back into the light. I can hardly wait for you to release that big one. I don't mind the longer format. Thank you so much for sharing.
You are amazing! Loved the technique and all the finesse it took to do what you you did. Thanks for sharing this time out if your life. Keep the goodness coming. Be happy, safe and stay healthy!😷⚒
That was incredible! You are getting good at prepping, my man. I did not expect it to be cracked and crushed. Very cool! I liked that you went deeper than usual on this one. You really get to see the crab come to life. It's hard to believe it was hiding in stone when you picked it up!
Long format is good. I did not have the time to watch it all so I would watch a minute and advance 5 minutes and still got a whole lot out of it. People have the option to watch it fast or slow which seems like a win win to me.
Bringing a *"Fossilized & Entombed Crab, Coaxed Back To Life,"* by delicately enticing the shy (and _L-O-N-G_ dead) carcase from a concrete sarcophagus. *Truly an artist - LOVELY!* 🦀
Just like unwrapping a present to see what's inside. Fantastic video. I love the longer format, so relaxing to watch. Keep up the good work and have a great new year.
Wow, Mamlambo! I don’t think I have ever seen you do a more complete reveal of a crab. That was amazing to watch. I am a Cancer, so I especially love the crabs. Thank you for sharing this.
What a fantastic specimen. Your work on this was amazing and insightful. You showed how long it really takes to bring a crab to life. Thank you so very much for sharing your work. My husband and I love you. God bless and have a great year to come.
After watching this again🤔🤔 hats off to you and the effort that went into keeping the crab in the exact same spot. The days that went into this, and the chips don't move either. It moves as a whole, the camera and work surface. So cool 😎. It's just as enjoyable the second time watching. Thank you
Of course it's really enjoyable to see the full prep of this kind of magnificent beast from old ages 😊 the longer they are, the most relaxing it is, in my point of view 😸 Anyway, happy new year to you and all your 🦀🦀 and I can't wait to see you mega prep in a future video, even if it will take you 3 month for it, I feel it will be awesome 😎 Thanks for sharing your work !
Brilliant, sir. You are indeed an artist. Beautiful specimen. Thanks for the cool video! I notice it has some significant fractures in the dorsal carapace. Is that likely perimortem damage that could be what killed it? I can’t help being very curious about the glove(s) you use. 🤔
Wow! I have so much to say about this! First of all, if the video is 1 hour at 10x the speed, how many actual hours & days did it take to prep this?! It was impressive to watch your amazing, expert prep work. With all the cracks it must've been difficult. What a great job you did! It came out beautiful! 👏👏 I can't wait to see you do the "big one". And congratulations on your first, well done, 1 hour prep video too. I really enjoyed it. 👍❤️
WOW! That is a #1 🦀. You do a great job keeping you fossils together. I ❤️ that crab, I'm a cancer ♋️, you see. I enjoy the videos you share. I'm up over in Tacoma Washington.
Would you recommend some books that would help explain the process, how the crab became a fossil, what is the best way to preserve, etc? Thank you. Wonderful video.
You must have alot of patients, but it pays off when you get those results. They'll have you working at the museum soon. Thx for the video it was Awesome stay safe and rock on thx
Very interesting! What a specimen! If crab anatomy is consistent over time and between species I think this is a male due to the triangular abdomen, rather than a circular one seen in females. Please correct me if I am wrong:) Great video 👍
Great prep and commentaries ! enjoyed it tremendously. I have a question , I didn't get to ask during the live feed ; are these domed crabs a more primitive variety ,we don't seem to have those around any more. Thumbs up!
Getting a neat crab out of a rock is very much like grinding down a shed horn elk antler end with my Dremel tool to reveal a polished elk antler belt buckle.
Absolutely awsome video that fossil is really cool. Approximately how old are the crabs you find and prep. Keep the videos coming there great. God Bless
Hey thank you for sharing! Very interesting to watch and relax! May i ask what the fluid is that you put on the fossilized crab and why? Color? A hardening agent? Oil? Incredible that we can see such an old animal with so much detail. Thank you for putting in so much work for us to enjoy!
Are there any fossil sites similar to the ones you visit in North America. I love your walks. Know it’s a long day behind the scenes, but it’s nice to be a part of your searches. Thanks.
Really enjoyed the longer version, was surprised when you did such a complete reveal of the whole crab.

Thanks Sand Maker!!
It takes great patience to do a preparation like that. Kudos on a great job!
Thanks mate!!
YES!!!!! Love the longer prep videos. It's very exciting to watch everything slowly reveal itself out of the rock
Really enjoyed watching this. Very impressed with your incredible skill and patience Thanks for sharing the long version.
That was a lot of fun to watch. It like watching a sculptor chiseling away at marble block to reveal the figure hidden inside.
The exact same thought popped into MY head: a sculptor, bringing "life" from cold, hard, dead stone!
That was incredible! You are getting good at prepping, my man. I did not expect it to be cracked and crushed. Very cool! I liked that you went deeper than usual on this one. You really get to see the crab come to life. It's hard to believe it was hiding in stone when you picked it up!
Such a beautiful little crab thank you for showing us the whole prep a great video five stars my friend
My pleasure!!
It's a treat to see such an in-depth prep video! Please do consider making more in the future.
I will do that Maisie!
Long format is good. I did not have the time to watch it all so I would watch a minute and advance 5 minutes and still got a whole lot out of it. People have the option to watch it fast or slow which seems like a win win to me.
I'll still do a short format as I enjoy the ones around 5 or so minutes long :)

I love that description!
One of your best yet , For it is like watching an orchard bloom .

Amazing patience on what turned out to be an absolutely beautiful crab fossil!! I’m in awe
Absolutely spellbinding!! Would love to try my hand at that.

Without a doubt, your best video yet! That was flipping awesome!
I enjoyed the full length video. I’d like to watch the prep for the big one! Enjoyed the music too. Thx
Nice. It’s free after millions of year of being trapped in the rock. Glad you showed us the entire process.
My pleasure Branden!
Very interesting pose with the crab on it's backside--it reminded me of a body builder flexing his arms over his head. Keep up the great work!
Thank you, I will! It does look like it's flexing!
Wonderful prep video! I enjoyed the longer format. Thank you for sharing.
Thanks Mark!
Watched every minute of it believe it or not. Excellent job. Thank you.
Hahahah that's awesome!!
That was an incredible reveal. I was expecting two crabs when you started. What a beast! Your hands must still be vibrating.
The gloves stop most of the vibrations reaching my hands which is great!
Thank you for this, I really enjoyed having this on in the background while I was working! So relaxing!
I'm so glad! I'll do it again :)
That was brilliant..
Thanks for showing us just how its done..👍
10/10

Thanks so much!!
Amazing! The crab folded in repose looks like a bronze sculpture. Thank you for sharing..
Beautiful preparation. You have astounding patience.
Amazing! To think it was once alive and roamed the earth blows my mind!
It's crazy! It blows my mind as well!

I'll definitely do that, glad you enjoyed it!!
Fantastic work. Don't ever stop, you are a master, now.
Im still learning but appreciate your kind words!
That was nice to see! You seem to have removed more of the concretion than in previous preps. Looking forward to the BIG crab!
Yip, I removed as much as I could before it started falling apart!
Great stream! you did a great job, the fossil looks amazing
Thank you so much 😀
Beautiful specimen!! Thanks for producing this video.

Looks like a LOT of work. I would not have the patience. Good job.
This one was quite a bit of work but quite fun to do! Thanks for watching!
Always love the longer videos, be it hunt or, the reveal.

I haven't seen books on it but there are a few papers around, one from Japan. If you google "concretion formation fossil japan" it comes up.
Quite right! Always facinting.. thank you!
HOLY SMOKES HAVE YOU GOT PATIENTS!! Great video!
Thanks!!! 😃
What a amazing job you did
So Awesome! I feel like this could be on ice at the wharf in San Francisco!
Wow the detail so satisfying 👏👏👏👏

@@MamlamboFossils Awesome!
Yes, more just like this please!
To think this innocent critter was roaming around, never knowing one day in millions of years, it was destined to become a youtube star.
Beautiful job.
Thank you! Cheers!
can't wait to watch one of these long format ones for when you finally find a bird and prep it! Any non-crab fossils in your prep queue?
Yip, got an unknown bone cluster I am working on now
@@MamlamboFossils I'm excited to see the results and any footage you capture along the way!!
Lots of gravel for the drive way, good show

Great prep and commentaries ! enjoyed it tremendously. I have a question , I didn't get to ask during the live feed ; are these domed crabs a more primitive variety ,we don't seem to have those around any more. Thumbs up!
They are extinct, I'm not sure they were more primitive. I think there are still some of the genus around today, or very similar ones.
Outstanding content! New big fan!
Very nice to watch the reveal; hope you find that elusive penguin, and share a long version reveal. Keep on searching 👍
Getting a neat crab out of a rock is very much like grinding down a shed horn elk antler end with my Dremel tool to reveal a polished elk antler belt buckle.
Epic stuff!
Thanks mate!
I enjoyed the format and I really liked how much of the fossil crab you revealed. Do you ever get to expose the crabs face?
What is the liquid you use and why ?
To protect the soft tissue?
Its B72 and thin CA glue to keep the exposed parts from flaking off from the air of the air scribe.
Absolutely awsome video that fossil is really cool. Approximately how old are the crabs you find and prep. Keep the videos coming there great.
God Bless
They are around 12 million years old.
Awesome!!!!!!!👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

Great as usual mate but I can't wait to see the massive one you found lol
