Surprised Maru got that mech style to work at the pro level.. lmao hellbat/tank/ghost what a funny end game comp, no Broodlords no Thors necessary I guess
It think it goes, "When Maru is behind, it's even. When Maru is even, he's ahead. When Maru is ahead, you're dead." Wish I could find that Artosis quote.
So noone is gonna talk about maru instantly reafting to 6 burrowed infestors with scan, even though, his screen wasn't on top as well as instantly targeting them with his siege tanks and Ghost? That was sick and almost a troll move by shin, because he felt so ahead. Really impressive to me. The overall control was insane.
1:08:21 State calls it right here. No anti air for zerg meant terran got to pick up ghosts and retreat multiple times. Zerg always use their vipers first in an attack and did not get great value (cant get close to ghosts cuz emp). If zerg had anti air and used vipers at the end of the engagement to harpoon a medevac full of ghosts...maybe better. But what do I know. I havnt won many gsl.
Your analysis is correct, but it's more like "yeah no sh*t Sherlock" meme. SC2 is the game of imperfection, 1 player managing 20 things at a time means they will make mistakes. It's all about who can make less mistakes. Of course SHIN could have played that better but what happened was SHIN probably feel that he was very close to beating Maru so instead of building more powerful tech units like infestor and viper which work great, he quickly re-max with a bunch of roach ravagers in hoping that he can kill Maru faster to prevent Maru from stabilize. Maru did not stabilized but SHIN also did not have a strong enough army.
And at this point of the game, Shin has pretty much no gas. He neglected putting drones at any new geyser... He couldn't make more hydras/banes/mutas, which was a weakness that Maru probably had foreseen and exploited. When Shin was down to just minerals, Maru had a shxt ton of hellbats, which are practically hard counter for all them lings.
@@teddanville6996 Basically Maru was just BARELY able to adjust to whatever army comp Shin had. Shin kept switching but Maru somehow managed to survive and readjust his army comp to properly counter it. I did find Shin's responses interesting, going mass Roaches and Ravagers, switching to Ultras very late, finally getting Banelings after almost killing him a million times, etc. It was crazy how Maru was just barely able to hang on. Against any other Terran it probably would have worked. Definitely an interesting approach I said though. Much different than the usual "ultimate late game Zerg army" that we see in the meta (e.g. a bunch of spellasters, Brood Lords, mass Ling/Bane, etc.).
1:08:42 casters miss it but observer points it out (not gonna spoil what) - overall, that cast was over focused on the hyper aggression and ignoring the inflated 'caveman' tech as the eventually started calling it it looked good but he couldn't do everything at once and it showed, the defender spotted the issue very early and was never gonna gg, incredible play by both, just incredible reads but well deserved win edit: in fact, this is prolly gonna be game of the season or 100% top 3 perfect reads man
In all fairness sometimes smashing repeatedly with low tech while the opponent is on low economy and can't rebuild their army can work. I remember one game where I think it was Elazer just kept spamming Clem with Ling, Bane, Muta all game, constantly killing his workers and harassing him. Clem eventually broke. Maru's defense is just on another level. I would have to go back and see what mistakes Maru made to where he was put on the ropes so much, because historically he smashes Shin. Also, I think Shin gave up on spellcasters because he kept losing his Vipers during attacks. Not sure if Maru targeted them or Shin was just sloppy, but I think that made him not want to bother and instead dump his gas into attack units.
Is Maru using this tournament to experiment with mech under the new patch? He didn't look quite as crisp as before with that style. This was the closest Shin/Ragnarok has come to beating him!
Disagree with the other comments saying Maru's amazing... SHIN just played poorly. Pro Zergs should know by now that you can't just throw roaches at Maru and expect to win.
I think shin really attacked the strong points of the terrans defence constantly.I think if he looked more for the weak points he would have more sucess.
agreed, seems like dark, rogue, and serral have the winning formula with pouring on the counter attacks and whittling the econ over time so that there's a weaker army to fight later down the road.
LOL! It's like saying Infestors OP just because Serral plays them like a god! Not many Terran can control ghosts like Maru does.. That 4 -0 at KATOWICE contradicts your comment so badly

@@estebancantero4751 Can someone explain to me why Infestor can move while burrowed? The only other unit that can do that is the Roach, and that at least requires money to research.
that last game was the most maru game in my recent memory.
He lives rent free in ragnarok's mind

@@N0noy1989that was more of an epic throw than a comeback i think haha, herO just sat around with an unkillable army and let serral win

What the?? The last game was insane!! What a great series!! I love GSL!!
At this point i don't even care if Maru can win another GSL or not, i just want to see Maru play turtle Terran vs Zerg.
WOW the mental resilience from poggers maru
Tasteless with that on the fly translation at the end! Even the casters need to be fast damn..
Great games!
The ghosts did the magic in the end.

Production quality is awesome as usual!
And I thought the second game was crazy... That third one was nuts!
When Maru is ahead you’re dead. When Maru is level, he’s ahead. When Maru is behind, its level 😭.
Man nerf this dude ffs 🤦🏾♂️
nah, Ragnarok forgot his late game units hotkey
