I would have approached the refurbishment very differently to avoid as much damage as possible. After disassembly I would have first used solvent to remove any oils. Then paint stripper to remove the paint. Then cleaner to remove the paint stripper. Then evaporust to remove the rust and oxidation. Then accomplish the weld repair and flush the weld. The roller surface should have been inspected for damage from the rust and ensure they were perfectly even cylinders. They also should have been polished to a mirror finish. After that powder coat the areas to be painted ensuring not to coat bearing surfaces. Then reassemble with tuff oil for the lube. But the rollers needed much better treatment.
