as a student cellist who has been at it for 6 years, i'm going to be fair and say it's quite accurate for an actor. sure, they kind of messed up with the fingerings and the pizzicato part, but it's not that bad. jenna ortega is ok.
One of the best bow instrument clip i've ever seen by an actor! She did a really good job in "paint it, black". It's even a fun piece to play, i'm studying it with the violin i didn't play for a bit more than a year, and i find it perfect for re-starting because it's not too hard, but it comprehends a lot of techniques and bow strokes. Ps. I'watching all of your contents, dont have a teacher at the moments and the youtube videos are helping me so much! (Sorry for my english if it's not perfect, i'm Italian)
I am a violinist, and I was really impressed with her mimicking (for paint it back at least.) Apparently she actually took some beginner cello lessons before filming to make it more realistic.
I've been a guitarist for 24 years but I always wanted to learn the harp Not a violinist but I love classical instruments especially string instruments
I tested vivandi winter part on my cello and copied her fingering and it sounded like it so I would say Jenna Ortega May have played it. Unless it was still she didn’t play it but I think she played it ❤
No. She spent the entire time in fake thumb position when the actual recording artist was clearly in first on multiple occasions, sometimes on a register that is not even available in thumb position. Good for her for putting in the time, let’s not forget to credit the actual artists involved here.
Ortega took lessons for 3 months just on this song. She’s not playing on the recording, that’s Finnish cello quartet Apocalyptica. But those big stretches are possible, there’s a TH-cam cellist that does it. Look her up.

Glad to hear you restarted again, keep it up:)
Great coverage! It’s amazing that Jenna put in all that dedication to cello playing!
Very insightful as usual! That sleight of hand caught me off guard lol
Gotta try and be a Jack of all trades 😂
Good on her. Us string players aren't an easy lot to please! 😂
Haha it’s such a demanding instrument
Your content is getting really good, keep it up!!
Thank you so much! Really melts my heart to hear that
I recall hearing that Jenna Ortega took several months of lessons on cello in an effort to do a convincing job in the cello playing scenes
The 3rd member of twoset?
"ThreeSetViolin"🤔
Great video dude! It was real fun to watch
Thanks so much! Really do appreciate the support! Let me know what you want to see next:)
Actually she took up cello lessons when she got the role of Wednesday so she does know how to play it.
She got cello lessons to learn how to look like a cellist not to learn how to play it in basic terms

That casual sleight of hand trick! 😮
So close to 5k!! Well done dude 👏
Almost!!!
not yet mid-August and you're at 5k subs! congrats!
Thank you so much!
You have a lot of potential, I'm sure that later I will be able to say "I was there from the beginning" :)
When that day comes, you will not be forgotten haha! Thanks for the support! It means the world
Hey, me too!
Thing helped her on a cello and did the pizz. ;)

Ah yes great reaction.
She studied/practiced for MONTHS before filming
As a guitar player, I like to think that I know everything you're talking about😂
Haha I promise I’m somewhat of a reliable source 😂
6:05 cracked me up!!!
I heard she was playing a different song she learned in cello and they just put paint it black over it.
Her posture was what killed it for me but she did do it decently
LMAO... it wasn't really her playing? 😮 I'm so shocked!! How many things in movies actually are? 😂
Loved this one! Wow!
She actually learned to play the cello plus i am a violinist
Wow that's so interesting.
im learning to play the cello in school
You look the exact same as you did in college. Forgive me if I’m wrong. I am extremely bad with ages
Haha I’m not that old. Btw that video wasn’t too long ago
