Great video! I really hope the trans-African highway includes railway throughout, locking Africa into car dependency in the 21st century is a death wish for everyone 😭
I fully agree with you there, but there's a difference between building highways where there are already plenty of roadways, versus building a highway where there aren't many good paved roads at all
If the highway is completed it will be a success as many countries in Africa aren't interconnected and are mostly connected to ports. This is worse for landlocked countries. A highway will boost the economy of many African countries as it will increase trade and stimulate growth. Personally, I would prefer trains but they are so expensive to construct, run and maintain compared to roads.
@@FlagAnthem And no-one is making anyone live in a hive, whatever that's supposed to mean. I don't see why building a road & rail highway is supposed to be worse than just a road highway, especially considering freight rail

Some small notes on captions First some love; i love how you censored the coitus related F word there in the captions, which i know is necessary bcuz of how youtube treats swears in captions somehow worse than swears in videos. F(censored)ing is prty easily clear and is leagues better than [_] as autogen captions do; completely infantilisin us disabled ppl and also just removin context entirely What i find extra funny here tho is that you changed it from the script in your readin of it, so this is actually the first time i can think of where the captions actually include more of a swear than the vid itself. Ive seen autogen captions turn Fu-*ding* into [_] before but nvr the other way around heh. Its nice for the most abled of hearin folk to get a small taste of what many disabled ppl exp... Where they simply are told a slightly diff story than the rest are bein told; and an intentionally less offensive one as if to protect your virgin ears (or the disabled persons virgin eyes as the case may be) On that tho, the fact the captions dont line up with spoken text is always a prob bcuz it means that disabled viewers get a diff exp, and usually thats inferior. For example, a deaf viewer here wud have no idea that you made a DR Congo joke; seemingly cuz that was added after the script was written Theres other subtle changes like that here which i think it wud be rly nice if you were able to take a little more time and adjust the script changes based on the final edit of the vid before uploadin, at least as youre usin the script as captions Its grt to see captions ofc, just wantin to make sure theyre as equitably accessible as possible here Notably, even tho im not deaf, i rely on captions bcuz of an auditory processin disorder, and it is harder for me to follow along with a vid when the spoken words and written words dont align; tho at least here... Thats generally a nonissue bcuz theres a lack of bg noises distractin and makin it harder for me to parse things; but it still catches me up a bit and sometimes i have to rewind but its nowhere near as bad as it is in other cases. This is actually the biggest reason i stopped watchin most anime; bcuz i need to hear and read the same words or else i will miss words and lose focus and find the vid just hard to watch... And most anime chooses the simple route of havin dubbed eps just use the subbed captions; which i totes get why it is a nice option for someone who wants to make sure they can more fully understand the intent of a translation... It shud rly not be the only option; actual captions are a necessary thing, or else the vids are just more inaccessible and available to a smaller audience
Because it is fascinating. For a very long time there was little coverage of the entire continent. Outside of ether Egypt in the very old history. Or just the entire contitent as some back ward place where everything was depicted as if everyone still lives like the hunter gatherers. They would show on National Geographic. The economic boom you now see in several places shows that there is a lot of potential. And that in it self is just wild.

Mostly you just try to build them on the rocky parts instead of the sandy parts. There's a lot less sand in deserts than popular media suggests.
