Jetstorm will always be my favorite Vehicon general for his pop culture references and banter such as “ your situation matches your location TERMINAL!”
The two tankors is a great concept and I'd love to see it in another form of media. Considering how much Earthspark pulls from IDW, would be fun to see that as an easter egg or a one-off line.
Honestly I like in general how Transformers has allowed more characters to share the same name. Such as in the aligned continuity there are 2 different Grimlocks. Considering in real life many people do share names, it really isn't that hard to imagine.
Imagine if Jetstorm came back in Earthspark. He could ether be a new Terran who decides to be a Decepticon or maybe he’s a Seeker who’s curious about Terran biology and wants to see if he can use their CNA in order to give himself a unique form again because he’d always felt uncomfortable with the seeker mold tradition, perhaps giving him some IDW Starscream vibes. I can imagine him and Nightshade having an interesting conversation about that.
Considering the whole Tankor name joke in idw, won't it have been awesome if Shockwave's sleeper agent was tankor and he used to be the "maximal" Rhinox who had been shadowplayed? And then instead of Rhinox randomly betrayaling shockwave, instead there is a dinobot II type moment when he remembers all the times he shared with Tall Tankor and has an Internal struggle. Ultimately he heroically betrays shockwave for the sake of all Cybertronians. Maybe saying something like "I'll never be Rhinox, I'm Fat Tankor! pulverize!"
The thing about beast machines is that canonically, Megatron had the entire population of Cybertron’s sparks to choose from. Which means any character could be brought back as Vehicons, even Optimus Prime.
How would Megatron have the sparks of Transformers that were already dead when he took control of Cybertron?! How would he have the sparks of Transformers that died in the 1986 movie or the sparks of Transformers that died in the Beast Wars show?!
You have to remember most G1 characters are implied to be long dead at the point of Beast Wars, let alone Beast Machines. So while it sounds interesting, they actually couldn’t pull that off without messing with the canon (not that BM doesn’t like doing that already.)
@@hypermegaman3145 I only say this because Transtech would have continued the story, with many long dead characters coming back. I imagine this is them being reformatted after Primal’s sacrifice. Of course this never happened, but it was the closest thing to a continuation we got, with it nearly happening. So of course for this to happen we would have needed these long dead sparks to among the ones saved from Megatron, implying he had access to them. Since Megatron having certain sparks is just as much of a hypothetical as Transtech’s original story, I don’t see any problem with using this as a basis for such a question as any definitive answer can never truly be canon. But some comics have had him use old Decepticons like Quake from G1 as an auxiliary Tank General, which is really what led me to wonder what his options really were to choose from.
@@javiersantanaaviles5885 Grimlock, Prowl, Ironhide, and Silverbolt were all still alive so it's not like it wasn't already cannon that some were still around. less g1 charchters than previously but they still were around
Strika is my favorite of the Vehicon generals, followed by Jetstorm, Tankor, Obsidian, and lastly Thrust because I don't find a motorcycle very menacing, also I wish I could get my hands on one of those Thrustinator figures, I really love the mixed looked of organic and machine!
I always thought the Vehicons from Transformers Prime were the cartoon's version of "constructed cold." I remember seeing it mentioned in the IDW comic, where a cybertronian can come from a protoform that develops into a body, OR they can have a body built and have their spark put into it, the latter being called constructed cold. So I always thought the Prime vehicons were like mass produced bodies that were infused with sparks and given basic programming that would be the equivalent of storm trooper indoctrination from Star Wars. That explains why they're mass produced, but still fully sentient and even show a glimmer of personality if you get to know them. I can imagine that those poor guys would collapse on the floor in a fetal position and whimper in terror if they caught sight of Arcee though, Arcee killed A LOT of them over the years, I'm almost certain she had the highest kill count among the autobots on that show. Jetstorm was my favorite Vehicon character, but an actually accurate toy would be problematic because he has no legs, he just floats around like a robot genie with that big tail thing, any toy of him that's accurate to the show model would need to come with a flight stand.
I like that idea. Explains why they can be mass-produced cannon-fodder, while still having distinct personalities and even sparks. That's my headcanon now.
You forgot to mention Animated Strika. Personally I never liked Strika and it's not just that she's huge. In fact RID2015 Strongarm I feel pulled off the larger build while still presenting as female a lot better than Strika did. Cyberwarp from the same series also had a heavier build and I loved her. Also the name Jetstorm has been reused a few times, usually as a name dump but Animated Jetstorm was intentionally designed as a homage to Beast Machines and it was pretty clever idea to make Jetstorm and Jetfire twins. Thrust is the one who never seemed to show up again, usually whenever we do get a Thrust it's a G1 cone head homage not a Beast Machines motorcycle. Armada Sideways kind of looks like him but no one thought to actually give him that name. I actually wrote a fan fiction reusing Armada Sideways as Waspinator/Thrust in a story taking place after Beast Machines. There's a 3rd personality as well but that's a spoiler and yes the fact that Sideways also has multiple heads was used in my version and this was before Animated Blitzwing used the same idea of a character swapping faces based on which personality has control of the body. The difference is in vehicle mode it also effects which of the Mini-cons is driving his vehicle mode. Waspinator and Thrust combine to form the 3rd personality. I also accounted for his changing faction symbol gimmic so rather than Autobot and Decepticon it's Predacon and Vehicon. He does still have a Decepticon faction symbol as well in place of what would have been a blank plate on the original toy.
9:20 Ten years old, and small! He really only looks right when placed next to legends-class figures. Even if it was primarily an upscale, I'd love a leader-class Tankor. On the main topic, yeah, Vehicons are largely untapped as an element for movies and shows. They kinda show up in the High Moon games, along with their autobot counterparts (Autodrones), but I don't think they were named as such.
Fun Fact: in the Beast Wars Uprising universe, they showed a version of Jetstorm that was redone from the Generations Armada Starscream…kinda wish we got that. They also had a Tankor from Titans Return Hardhead.
I remember both Strika and Jetstorm appeared in Transformers: Animated. Strika was the leader of Team Chaar, while Jetstorm and his twin brother Jetfire were significant in that continuity as being the only flying Autobots because all of them had ground based alt modes, even the ones who were originally aerial vehicles in G1
Tankor was my favorite Beast Machines character in the show . He reminded me of a Transforming Cylon from Battlestar Galactica the original series . Beast Wars & Beast Machines where limited to how many Characters could be on the show at one time . Wish both where able to have more Characters on the show at one time . Sadly most of the Characters where killed off for no reason or never appeared on the show at all . Both where the first shows other then the 86 Movies have main Characters die . Beast Wars my 3 favorites where Death Charge , Tigitron , Rhinox Beast Machines it was Tankor & Jetstorm .
Maybe Hasbro is intimidated by Jetstorm’s design? I guess you could try mixing his Beast Machines and Animated designs together and see how it comes out.
What a fun video! There was a really, really great BM Tankor and Thrust that came out...I want to say at the end of the BM line, but might have even been part of RiD. They were basic class figures, but looked perfect and were a lot of fun to transform. I still have both of them.
Couple things that weren't mentioned I think are interesting. First of all, in regards to Strika, surprised there was no reference to her Animated appearance, where she was a general of Decepticons who were attacking space bridges. In the Prime video game, there was a Helicopter Vehicon that appeared multiple times, I beleiiiive as a sort of sniper unit? And I want to say there was also a Tank Vehicon. Canonicity is questionable due to the *implied* destruction of Megatron in the game, as well as some other hiccups, but i beleive in an interview it was stated it could be wedged in someone in the second season? There's a TFWiki article on the game and in that article it goes over how weird the continuity is, check it out it's a pretty entertaining read. But I digress, point is, there were 2 other Vehicon models in the Prime universe.
Fun fact: I actually have a post-Legacy year 3 toyline pitch that incorporates the Vehicons HEAVILY as minions for the line’s main villain (BM Megatron). Aside from them, I have the majority of the Beast Machines cast redone (minus Silverbolt and Botanica) and given proper scale. Here’s how the Vehicons turned out. Thrust (Deluxe): includes display stand and spark extractor. Has a toy colors repaint Jetstorm (Voyager): Includes spark extractor and display stand. Capable of having both a show-accurate and toy-accurate robot mode. Has Cyclonus and Fitor retools and a toy colors repaint. Strika (Voyager): Admittedly more accurate to her Till All Are One design than her actual BM design, but still. Includes spark extractor and… wrecking ball? If you couldn’t guess, she’s meant to share a mold with “Animated Universe Bulkhead” (retool of her with new head and forearms). Obsidian (Voyager): Includes spark extractor and missile pods. Has a Rotorbolt repaint. Tankor (Leader) Finally the size he should be. Includes Diagnostic Drone and blast effect for his cannon. Has Countdown and Stalker/Machine Wars Soundwave as retool options and his toy colors and a movie-inspired Brawl as repaint options.
19:33/19:34 Makes sense since you can leave Hardhead's noggin attached to the main figure (the most defining trait of the BM: Vehicons). Also makes sense for Quake since he used Tankor's: Mega Class toy for BotCon's: Wreckers fiction.

I honestly really really really want to the point of "I would demand it if I knew who to scream at" new toys of all the vehicons, I love all of them, with Stryka and Obsidian being my favorites as a danger couple
obsidian will always be a favorite of mine... alot of it comes from his official artwork front and center on tfwiki. like THAT is something... and he deserves a new toy
It’d be cool if both the Prime, Movie and BM Vehicons appears together. Maybe have Prime Vehicons be the first bearing the names, the Movie Vehicons comes along as the newer models to help the Decepticon units on Earth and then later; someone comes up with the BM Vehicons to replace the older models but stuff happens where they become their own faction and having the advantage over the older Vehicon generations in being easier to assemble new BM Vehicons by the dozens. The other Decepticon Troops from various continuities including the Photons would make up the bulk of the Decepticon Empire’s army with the Prime and Movie Vehicons being among the more common types to encounter. The rise of the BM Vehicons would lead to the older Vehicons being reduced prominence wise over time akin to Clone Troopers post-Clone Wars because the higher ups has grown weary of them due to their successors becoming another faction to for them to deal with in the war.
Out of that galvatrons vehicons panel I like the idea of the combiner wars bike for thrust because then you could have full combiners of drones. Or have thrust, tankor, strika, and obsidian as the limbs and use one of the jet torsos for jetstorm.
Great video! Also when you said 4 models for vehicons did you mean the mole for the 4th? Also also, bout the wings of honor thing, kup did not deal with them when he was younger, the reason they’re in the box set is because they attack during kup telling the story.
Do a retrospective on Shinkansen Henkei Robo Shinkalion, and why HasBro didn't pick this one yet after what Takara Tomy did to Thomas and Friends. HasBro did add RailRacer/JR-X to the RID2001 toyline, followed by making Classics/Henkei! Henkei! AstroTrain with noticeable bullet train modes. Also the Amtrak Acela is a bullet train.
These guys need new figures the beast machine versions mainly they either haven’t gotten new figures in a while, only convention figure updates, or non besides the original its time for an update. the prime would also be nice if we got some of the multi coloured repaints some of those do look nice. The inferno would also be nice to see as it would be an easy repaint from scrapmetal and a core class. Heck core class scrapmetal and inferno, deluxe thrust/primeVC, voyager jetsorm /tankor, and a leader strika/obsidian but maybe obsidian could be a voyager but this could be a sub line like an army builder line
"Pulled the finger"? 😂 Joking aside, I've always enjoyed the Vehicons. Toy-wise, the Prime versions were just amazing. I'd be really curious how a new toy of them would come out, but it's a high bar to clear.
So funny thing I have not watched your beast machines reviews mainly cos I want to binge it all in one go…here’s hoping I don’t regret that and no that’s not me saying your opinion is wrong I just want this show to get some more love
I have ideas for the name of Vehicon but used a bit different than before. See I am trying to do my own little fan-fic of how the tory of the transformers go, using G1 as a basis and starting off with the Beast Wars as my beginning and how in this world I am trying to craft, I want to use the name Vehicon as a term for the Evil Faction that comes from the speed Planet Velocitron, with the opposite of the Vehicons to be the Throttlebots since to me the term Vehicon and Throttlebot just seemed like the faction names that would originate from Velocitron, such as the Maximals and Predacons from Eukaris or Autobot and Deceptcon from Cybertron.
When I played Xenoblade Chronicles X in 2019, I gave my Skells decos inspired by a few Transformer characters and I decided to base one of them on Beast Machines Thrust for whatever reason.
If i could make a change to AoE story I'd have the KSI bots be called Vehicon Drones, with named bots like Stinger and Galvatron intended to be mechs piloted by humans to lead the AI Vehicon Drones into battle. I'd also cut a bunch of other things but we dont have all day to talk about it.
I would compare the transformers prime vehicon drones to the battle droids from star wars both mobs are mass produced, both serve the purpose of cannon fodder, both are use for troop building, both are mostly uniform in design and programming and both have self awareness and independent thought to an extent
I find it weird that whenever people talk about vehicons, they forget the g1 guys. The yellow and green guys the constructicons made in tracks episode. I thought they were really cool and Im kinda upset they always get overlooked.
Those aren't Vehicons. They aren't really given any sort of name in the final episode, but deleted dialogue gives them the name "Robot Conversion Troops"
@OptimusPhillip yeah I looked into it. It is still the earlies drone like force the decepticons ever had tho and I wouldnt mind them being retconned into g1 vehicons.
WFC Weaponizer Brunt would be a great retool for Tankor. Legacy Deluxe Prowl I’ve can moded into a uniwheel Thust. Jetstorm I wonder about. Because of his shape he’d have to be pretty unique. I think if they were going to go for it they could retool studio series core class Bumblebee movie Starscream.
You know, if any of these people ever decide to support an additional person in the future...somebody is going to be VERY confused at the new supporter's name.
Man I'm going to be the 'well actually' guy and I can't believe I'm doing it, but what about the Insecticons from the original cartoon as the army builder/cannon fodder characters. I suppose it can be argued against them since they were kind of mindless drones created on demand and were a little different from the Sweeps and the later Vehicons etc. But I personally would add them as pretty much the same basic thing as the Sweeps Vehicons etc as an actual intended group of cannon fodder characters. Different from all the background seekers and Reflectors I think. But I know, technicalities and preferences and all that. And as I said sorry to be the 'well actually' guy. Lol
"you blentron" is a great stand in. love it.
I know right, lol
Kinda hope Strika gets to be in Legacy…also I wanna see her team up with Crasher!
I think she be a good heavy retool of the next upcoming junkion.
I think, "you filthy line of junk code" is possibly a very viable transformer insult.
Or, "you pinless coupling." Oooh nasty.

Yes.
I still have a special place in my spark for Vehicon Scavenger.

I mean we did have Jetstorm in two other media outside beast machines, one as a star saber minicon and also in animated.

Joking aside, I've always enjoyed the Vehicons. Toy-wise, the Prime versions were just amazing. I'd be really curious how a new toy of them would come out, but it's a high bar to clear.
17:32 Not a proper one, but she did got a tiny changer figure.
20:43/20:51 Only Animated & Shattered Glass did (under different personas).
For as...Beast Machines as Beast Machines was, the Vehicons were neat.
Though I'll always have a soft spot for -Steve- the Prime Vehicons.
So funny thing I have not watched your beast machines reviews mainly cos I want to binge it all in one go…here’s hoping I don’t regret that and no that’s not me saying your opinion is wrong I just want this show to get some more love
Someone’s forgetting the other animal-drone from G1 - The Sharkticons
Energon had it's own version of troop builder drones
8:28 What abou Shadelock, does he count?
When I played Xenoblade Chronicles X in 2019, I gave my Skells decos inspired by a few Transformer characters and I decided to base one of them on Beast Machines Thrust for whatever reason.
The AOE man-made transformers should’ve been called vehicons. They would fit in very well
If i could make a change to AoE story I'd have the KSI bots be called Vehicon Drones, with named bots like Stinger and Galvatron intended to be mechs piloted by humans to lead the AI Vehicon Drones into battle.
I'd also cut a bunch of other things but we dont have all day to talk about it.
18:07/18:13 I always like that concept in fiction.
It's sad that after Beast Machines the only retail Strika toy has been a tiny turbo changer
IMO at least, I don't think there is anything problematic about having an hourglass figure. Tho mold-breaking can be refreshing, I'll agree to that.
Very enjoyable video
I would compare the transformers prime vehicon drones to the battle droids from star wars both mobs are mass produced, both serve the purpose of cannon fodder, both are use for troop building, both are mostly uniform in design and programming and both have self awareness and independent thought to an extent
I think the Prime Vehicons are just Low Ranking cons. Since they have different voices depending on the episode you’re watching
Does the cyberverse tarn clones count? 😂
I think if they were going to go for it they could retool studio series core class Bumblebee movie Starscream.
armada had vehicons in the game
Don't forget Animated strika
Lol
STEEEEVEEE
Yeah More jetstorm best machines jetstorm he's fun not just random bots using the name like Rid 2015 jetstorm
Chris McFeely just did a The Basics on Vehicons.
