The composer writes:
My piano sextet remembers one of the most gifted seventeenth century English Restoration composers, Michael Wise. Wise was attacked and killed by a member of the Salisbury night watch in 1687. To that end, the piece includes a quotation of Wise’s anthem, ‘The Ways of Zion do Mourn’ and comprises five movements resembling a Baroque Suite. The Demise of Michael Wise is dedicated to Ricardo Odriozola
