Bruges is my favorite Feld out of the handful I’ve played. I love how the randomness forces you to have a plan B at all times. I’ve done the Bruges trio, separately, haven’t done it all at the same time though 😂
@@Nain1982 new rules suck. The fact that now you can take 2 disaster tiles of the same type (due to wild die) makes planning around disasters virtually impossible. And having access to all card colors at all times means that you can find a small combo between some cards that require certain colors and ABUSE it. Bruges is all about taking risks and contingency planning, not low-randomness. If you want no randomness, play Bus, Caylus, Gaia Project or games like these. Hamburg fixes what wasn't broken and introduces new problems.
I 2nd this. Bonfire definitely deserves to be near the top. The mechanics feel fresh, and I love how the connect with the theme, and the puzzle-y aspect of it all. Very satisfying when you get everything together and are able to finish with a massive procession of points 🎉
great list, I agree for the most part on that rating. I was surprised to see Notre Dame so low (one of my top 10 felds) and that you guys thought Castles of Tuscany was boring! it's such a tight and quick game, really like it! Marrakesh seems to be high in everyone's list, but for me, I don't think I can even place it on top 10 list.
Great fun watching this video; love the humour. I am also a Feld fan. My top 10 Felds; 7 Bonfire 6 BRUGES 5 Oracle of Delphi 4 BORA BORA 3 TRAJAN 2 CARPE DIEM 1 Castles of Burgundy Ok Top 7 I need to play more of his games.
Great video as always. 😊 I don't know if it's possible but i would like to have an overall rating for the games so i can compare them to other games. Sure i remember your top 100 and i know that the Top 7 Felds where there but it would help me a lot to decide if i need it or not 🤔
Some really good games that don't make my Feld Top 10, but here are those that did. Some of the "less popular" I like for many of the reasons you two shared. 10. Bora Bora 9. La Isla 8. Merlin 7. Oracle Delphi 6. Amerigo 5. Bonfire 4. AquaSphere 3. Trajan 2. Castles of Burgundy 1. Bruges Keep playing...
Great video! I love Stefan Feld, and I wish I had tried more of these. But, here's my current list: 5) Bruges (I rate it around a 6.5 - 7; I'm glad you guys didn't love it as much, too, since many reviewers consider this one of Feld's best!) 4) Carpe Diem (I've only played it once, so I don't know exactly where it will land, but it was fun) 3) Trajan (I rate this a 7.5; it's fun how everything comes together) 2) Notre Dame (this is a *10* for me. I adore this game. But, it never clicked for my wife, and so we culled it 😢) 1) Castles of Burgundy (perfect 10, and my second favorite game of all time... I've played this thousands of times (mostly online, but also in person) and it's probably the game I'd keep if I were only allowed to have one game). I also liked Castle of Burgundy: The Card Game; but I only ever played it a couple of times solo, so I can't really rank it.
This is so close to my list! I also don’t like Bruges, and think Forum Trajanum is massively underrated. Would like Amsterdam and Trajan a little higher, and year of the Dragon a little lower, but an incredibly solid list. Also nice to see Bonfire getting love.
Feld is my favorite designer and Your top 2 are my top 2, and very similar top 10 Marrakesh I have not tried yet, still boycotting Queen games last few years, will eventually play it though, looks very Feld-y, lol. Personally I would have Amerigo in the top 5 and Bonfire lower, but I love polyominoes and exploring type games, so kind of biased. Whereas Bonfire feels too Lacerda-like for me (not a bad thing but I am less a fan of his games as time goes on, I think I am appreciating nicer simpler more “elegant” designs), like you want to do D, but to do that you must first do,A, then B, then C. Really looking forward to Civolution , and it’s not by Queen, yay !
Oh man I love Aqua Sphere. I think it is his most underrated design. Top 10 Favorite Felds: 1) Aqua Sphere 2) Bora Bora 3) Marrakesh 4) Bonfire 5) Bruges 6) Carpe Diem 7) Trajan 8) The Castles of Burgundy 9) Forum Trajanum 10) Luna Appreciate the love for Feld’s designs.
Love your videos always, Feld and Uwe are my two favourite designers by some margin. I will put my opinions on your opinions, because it is fun for me to do so :D Tuscany is great! How can you put it so far down!! Jorvik - I generally agree with your comments but overall enjoy it a lot more than you. Agree totally re Merlin. It's boring. Notre Dame - such a great game. 25 min with 2p. You should try the 10th anniversary edition though which adds a bit more variability in, much needed imo. Amerigo - so-so for me. Strasbourg - the only one on this list I've not played!! Really need to try it. Don't love Delphi or AquaSphere or Luna tbh. Kokopelli is great. You should try NYC again! It's so good! The rulebook is a complete mess though, but if you play it correctly, it's fantastic. Carpe Diem, FT & Trajan all solid games. Surprised ItYotD is so high, but I also love it. But it gets so little love from others! Marrakesh - my favourite! Bonfire - this was just okay for me. I can't see why people love it so much! Cuzco is slightly better than Bora Bora (but they're both pretty much the same and both absolutely fantastic). Cuzco adds a little more leeway in for when you get stuck (nothing worse than when you get stuck from the beginning and already know you have lost!) Obv Cob at the top, can't complain there.
Bruges (Brugge) should be rated higher just because the town itself is heel mooi en gezillig (very beautiful and cozy)! Sorry, had to use Dutch since I don't know French... You really should visit and play Bruges in Bruges! Thanks for the list.
I have been deep in the hobby for 7 years and yet never played any Stefan Feld games despite hearing a lot of good things. I guess I have never got past the lack of theme or boring aesthetics. I'll happily try them if I get the chance, but I doubt I will convince my wife to play with me, so not really worth purchasing 😂
I think Macao is much funner and cleaner than Amsterdam. Macao is my #2 behind Castles. Amsterdam might be outside my top 10. I"m looking forward to Civolution.
Bruges and Amerigo are much higher in my list! Bruges is probably the most played game in my collection. When you get past the "luck" thing (because it's a challenge too) it is a spectacular game. Delphi is underrated, Luna is one of a kind. Glad to see Forum Trajanum and Bonfire so high in the list. CoB my all time favorite!
Watching this reminds me how meh I am on Feld games. I like most that I have played but they mostly all score in the 6.5/10-7.5/10 range. To be fair my ratings might go up with more plays. With just a few exceptions I have only ever played each game once, and a few of these I don't actually remember anything about that play. My rankings: 16) CoB card game 15) Carpe Diem 14) CoB Dice game 13) Bruges (I think I played this Twice) 12) Rialto 11) Luna 10) Castles of Burgundy (only every played this once and at 4 players with friends we hadn't seen in a year and the game took 3 hours) 9) The Speicherstadt (I may have played this more than once) 8) Forum Trajanum 7) AquaSphere 6) Amerigo 5) Macao 4) Bora Bora (might have played this twice several years apart) 3) Notre Dame 2) Oracle of Delphi 1) Trajan
Trajan at 6 is a travesty 🤨😉. I have a real soft spot for Strasbourg, its probably nowhere near one if Feld's strongest designs but it is always so fun and funny in play for a dry Euro. Always lots of laughter and head in hands moments.
We talked about this in a previous keep or cull vid: th-cam.com/video/rDBGH8ouBFo/w-d-xo.htmlsi=Umww8J9mB1dqMQok Past Sunniva is better at explaining than I am 😊
I never understood love for In the Year of the Dragon. If I want to feel stressed playing a game, I’ll play Robinson Crusoe. But I love Bruges, so maybe I’m crazy 😂
I’ve had Bonfire and Aqua Sphere on my shelf of shame for so long. Need to fix that! I also hate how so many of these games are so difficult to get hold of, or insanely expensive, or both! Side note: I hold a deep and sincere hatred in my heart for Queen games. Have to agree with #1, it is so obviously one of the finest games ever made. I really hope that Trajan gets an upgrade/rework at some point that improves the art and components, as well as better balances the minigames for different player counts. That mancala is so fun to interact with, it’s such a shame that the minigames surrounding it are mostly either dull, or poorly balanced for different player counts.

“If I’d grown up in a farm, and was retarded, Bruges might impress me, but I didn’t, so it doesn’t.” Some classic lines in that movie. In regards to the game, I would rate it a bit higher than they did also, but not by much, ended up selling it. Fun to try though. Was keeping a complete Feld collection at one point, but not really feasible. Only kept COB ( my #1 game), Trajan, Carpe Diem, Forum Trajanum (is there a Roman theme going on or something?), Bora Bora, Amerigo, and Luna.
I was really amused by Sunniva's long justification of why she thinks CoB is best at 2. If I had to make a top-10 list of games that are listed for a wide range of players but almost everyone would agree are just/best for 2, ranked by how many people would agree (and how vehemently) that the game is really only for 2 and they wouldn't want to play it with more, CoB would probably be somewhere in the top 3. Or at least if the list excluded the really worst offenders where the additional players feel more like a hack than "just" extra massive downtime for no benefit whatsoever. 😀
I’ve never heard of Oracle having a luck issues. It’s a great game! Don’t all dice games have the same issue? It literally has the same dice mechanic as Castles of Brurgundy! And it even has an extra die, so it’s less random than that! People who say Oracle of Delphi is a luckiest don’t know the Oracle at all.
Roma? Edit: I thought it was called Arena, but you are right, the first one was called Roma. I remember that, one of his early ones, totally not a Feld-like design, basically a 2 player head to head duel, but it was interesting if you like “conflict”.
You stated you left off some small box games at the beginning, but "The Name of the Rose" is a Bigger Box game and Top 3 Feld for me, I usually agree on most reviews you give, this one missing "The Name of the Rose" was heartbreaking. A low rank is acceptable, not even mentioning is disappointing.

it is pretty low on the list, deservingly so, unless you play with the new rules from Amsterdam.
