Light tackle catfishing is where it’s at. A few days ago I was crappie fishing ok Chickamauga and got into a 4-5lb Flathead with a 1.2” MuleFishing jig and 4lb mono on a ultralight, that was all sorts of fun lol if you’re ever up around Chickamauga, I need to know so we can get atleast one video in 👍🏼
My favorite fishing show was bill dance growing up. Every Sunday I'd watch that man with my dad....now my fav is Richard gene and my son ask me everyday if you have posted a new video yet 😊 u remind me of my dad sometimes how you talk...best show on period and then pigpatroltv and kayak catfish
I have watched a great many youtube fishing personalities....none come close to yours. You are in fact a greater fisherman whos is also a great teacher of fisherman. I say this with the greatest of kind intent. Please look at your descriptions of your videos. Many are nearly word for word descriptions of previous videos...but with different and fantastic content! For our benefit...maybe look to improve your video descriptions. Thank you for teaching me. I have enjoyed it!!!! I look for your videos before searching else where...I am always looking for your new postings!!!!
Thanks Richard, for takin us with you on another grest trip, and for givin us all the tips and advice, and for your inspirational scripture. I hope that you know how much you meen to those of us that follow you and what an inspiration you are to younger fishermen and fisherwomen. You show them how to fish and mostly how to appreciate all the greatness that God has given us to enjoy. God bless ya'll and stay safe out there gettin us these videos.
Thank you Richard, you truly are a fishing machine! I look forward to the content and the inspirational verse you leave for us, it is a blessing. God bless everyone!
Yes sir mr Gene You are a rock n roll star If people can’t pick up what you’re putting down they just ain’t trying Thank you for always being up beat. Times are hard and they fixing to get harder. Thanks for sharing. You are a True Leader 🎣
I ❤ catching gar. They are like fish dog/cats! They’ll follow your bait, strike at your cork, and you can bring em to the bank without ever setting the hook. I had a 7’ gar take my 4” fluke and it never fought back until it was 10’ away from the bank. It saw me, then rolled over, spit the hook, and took off! Such a dumb and placid fish. I truly love them.
Little MIss and I just started fishing and you bring so much knowledge and value to our set ups, our locations and the joy of fishing. After we got the tackle box and the gear ready, she hounds me every day, “When are we going fishing?” God bless you richly, Mr. Gene.
I woke up this beautiful Sunday morning Richard and before I went in the kitchen and make my boy some pancakes I just wanted to tell you what I'm talking about I'M TALKIN BOUT WOOOO
One thing I can say Richard, is that you always seem to have some great water to fish in! Beautiful lakes and rivers. Even the little streams are always an adventure. I'm just happy and thankful to you, for taking us along on your fishing adventures. Watching you fish, makes me feel heathier!
Those are beautiful catfish. It is interesting to see the different colors between the bluecat and channel cat. The last time that I saw you catch a gar was when you were using rope to catch them. It was an episode a few years ago. I thought it was cool catching a fish without bait. You'd catch the gar because the rope would get caught in their teeth.
Mr. Gene still representing that Crimson Tide, even during that Crimson Slide. Much respect Mr. Gene! Don't y'all be stealing this and making the shirts, without some royalties to AQUA!
Richard caught that Gar on purpose. Notice the change to the float? He mentions early in the video that he can see the Gar on top. The other clue is how long he let the fish run with the bait and he said he had to. Gar are notorious for being difficult to hook so he let the fish take it all the way, using circle hooks drastically reduces chance of harming fish no matter how far down they take the bait. He must have wanted to give us a little extra entertainment lol.
Another great video Richard - and good techniques to use! Have you eaten Gar? I've seen some videos where they mention they are very good eating, just a lot of work to process.
Richard is absolutely right; the smaller channel catfish are more tasty than the larger catfish. Be careful when not holding the rod (sitting the rod down to take a break); a big catfish will bite and the pinch of the hook will sometime cause the big catfish to takeoff running and snatch the rod off the boat!
I just wondered what the meal limits are on fish in lakes in Tennessee. Also the Tennessee River because up here in Ohio it's bad every where aside of a few cdlean streams and thank God one is with an hr of my home that I fished my entire life.
We only see your reflection on fish finder. Are you near river channel? Fishing in the rain make fishing easy because fish get under the boat during rain.
I have never been able to land a gar. They always break my line. But I have waded thru a pool of clear water that was full of them. Knowing they have those big teeth, it's kind of unnerving, but I've never heard of anyone getting bitten by one while wading or swimming.
Those catfish are "eaters". Once or twice a year when I wanted home catfish fry I would go up the French Broad River in East Tennessee to the mouth of the Little Pigeon River and catch eater flatheads. If I caught one ~8 pounds or more it went back. I like the 5-7 pound to take home. Up there the water was decently clean. It sure wasn't Ft. Loudon Lake. lol Once home I'd filet em up then cut the filet into bite-size pieces, bread 'em in the "Special" then deep fried. Popcorn catfish! Melt in your mouth I'm telling you. Then you said, "Beans and cornbread and hog jowls." and flung a mad craving on me. This old East Tennessee boy has a hard time finding good Southern food up here in Washington state. These poor people up here don't really know how to eat. 😉🤭 Richard, I thank you for taking us with you again. I always stop what I'm doing and go because it's good fer me.
I grew up with them Same Old Timers hearing Eastern Tampa Eastern Hillsborough County oh, and I found that statement to be true the smaller ones are the better eating their cleaner Pierre less toxins in their meat and they taste darn good much better than the bigger fish
I guess i must be an old timer, i dont like to eat a blue or channel cat over a couple of pounds. I'll eat a 20 lb flathead though. They dont taste bad like the others when they get big.
