Thank you for showing this. The drone footage made this opening day coverage like nothing we have ever seen before. This place was almost a home away from home for my Grandfather well over half a century ago. Thanks again. I appreciated seeing Grandpa's stomping grounds arial view.
All of these fishermen and fisher ladies are "Professional Fishermen and ladies." Many respects, no angle no tangle. Everyone is on the same page. what away for communities to get together. There are plenty of fishes for all. Missouri keeps the tradition alive for all ages.😊😊
That's a lot of people fishing for trout. I'd rather skip the crowds and catch some slab crappies that actually taste great fried up. Growing up in PA, I definitely understand the tradition of fishing opening day. Super cool drone footage!
The weekend before the seasoned opened we were part of a dive team that cleaned out fishing line for the State Park. It was a cold dive but a LOT of fun at the same time. th-cam.com/video/sKexrQoYpTM/w-d-xo.html
@@missouripublichunter It was a BLAST! Looking forward to doing it again. The video don't show it but when I was in the water I saw a very large population of trout.
I used to work there and pushed the button to start fishing every mornin, just about. I'da done that job for free but Mo. Dept. of Conservation chose to pay me. Happy fishing :)
@@missouripublichunter Funny story. I was on thirds one night, the only employ in the park, and a woman came down from our primitive camp sites (just a bear pole and fire pit). She was looking for anybody. Found me and said there was a Sasquatch at her camp. So went up with her with my spot light, looked around for tracks, It was a dry Summer, so nothing. I told her it must have been a bear. She was adamant it was not a bear. Though I did non see anything, I believe her. That was my first potential Bigfoot encounter. I've another in the woods of western Ky.
I have been by there. Never fished it. I thought trout fishing. Would be yr around. Never paid much attention driving by. I am not far from the Ark/Mo state line. I live in Arkansas. U can trout fish yr around.
That's funny I live in Southern California we fish for trout in the winter feeling the gap yellowtail in tuna in the summer I thought the crowds here were a joke but that's ridiculous the mount Lassen trout we fish for here can eat the fish those guys are catching shoulder to shoulder that's a joke
It's kind of sad. I try to take my boys out, but it's impossible posturing with a bunch of grumpy old men that take it way too serious. And by noon when the crowds have died down the streams are devoid of fish. PA has a youth opener the Saturday before and it's a lot better.
@@jimsomerville3924 it's the same up here. I quit fishing salmon and steelhead cuz of the crowds. Moving to Sault Ste Marie in a week. Can't wait to hit the water
brutal .... I couldn't fish like that... but that's me
Thats why im just filming. Lol i like a nice quiet cove personally
I’m with you to dam many people in one spot for any kind of enjoyment
That’s why my dad and I never go on opening day. Sure they stock it with bigger fish but the hassle of dealing with that many people isn’t worth it

I love when nathan works with me. The drone footage gives a whole other way to see the park! I love it
As someone how loves state parks with camping and fishing in missouri Bennett springs is one of my favorite
We love it there! Only 15 minutes away for us

2:45 that’s where I’d be, in a smaller stream with less people 😂

Couldn't not mention that the real old timers didn't usually call it anything but "Brice" in a reference to the historic town of Brice Missouri.
Where's all the kids? That's what stocked trout is for
Opening day its mostly old men hahaha
@@missouripublichunter I'm in Ontario Canada so it all depends on temps. Too cold leave the kids at home. We get Brook trout stocked around us

I love fishing MO, but “combat rising” isn’t for me. It’s just a personal thing.
It can get a little rough
