    clear cut straight to the point, no b.s. my type of review. thanks man. def makes me want to try out the shoe for myself. you'll be the one responsible for taking me to a Nike store to try it out. If I make the purchase it's all you. Nike should be paying you. Not some robot lookin employee with no enthusiasm nor emotions whatsoever.

    I'm a bit late to the zoom fly /vaporfly game...I was wearing New Balance racing flats (1400, 1500, etc) exclusively until I developed plantar fasciitis and although that's typically something you don't fix with a shoe change I had to look for an alternative to some cushioning or protection while I heal from PF. I heard a running friend talk about the Pegasus Turbo, decided to give it a try using Nike's try for 30 days offer, and I'm happy to say I have not looked back. Aside from the shoe providing some needed relief to my heels, the feel, responsiveness, lightness, makes the Turbo and zoom fly amazing shoes. Can't wait to try out the vaporfly some day. Thanks for the concise yet quick review! Cheers!

    Good review. Thanks.
    Please do a follow-up on the resilience/durability of the ZoomX and React foams. Given their light weights - and so presumably lack of density - will they quickly bottom out like the Lunarlon, or will they retain their shape better, somewhat similar to Boost?

  • @InsightfulUndercurrents
    @InsightfulUndercurrents 7 ปีที่แล้ว +50

    So some answers to some of your points:
    No flywire? So that single layer of memory foam fabric has been used for Nike racing spikes and road racing shoes since 2016 because flywire can dig into feet at high speed, so nike came up with this material to lock down the foot like flywire without digging into the feet.
    ZoomX has more energy return than boost? So independent testing put the boost at 70% (which was market leading) and ZoomX at 82%
    Does Vaporfly 4% make you 4% faster? Kind off. So that figure comes from an study by a university (which I will link below) which showed that peoples heart rate drops by an average of 4% at a given speed for people than in the nike streak 6. So the theory is that say if someones heart rate was at 180bpm, then in the Vaporfly they will run at a faster speed than in a streak 6. I have been testing the heart rate and I have been getting a 6-7% drop in my bpm than when I was in the Streak 6. Even my coach has notice how fresh and at easy I look running in the Vaporfly 😁.

    crazy that these sold out so fast, considering that hefty price tag. Smart marketing on Nike's part, the hype will build

    • @JamisonMichael
      @JamisonMichael  7 ปีที่แล้ว +19

      Brian Simonetti I have a conspiracy theory that this whole breaking2 thing was rigged. They hyped up the event, created shoes. Had celebrities and big athletes involved. Teased the shoe, came out with breaking2 color ways of other shoes...delayed the release of the actual shoe to draw more hype. Then overcharged for it...and by not actually breaking the 2hr barrier ...it's rigged so that They could come out with a sequel shoe and attempt it again and sell another "breaking2 part 2" shoe".....it was all planned. 😩#conspiracy #Breaking2Gate

    • @user-kd4mi8xb7p
      @user-kd4mi8xb7p 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      You realize the world record is 2:02:57. These guys don't even know if it's possible to go sub-2, and if they did, the athletes still put years of training for this specific marathon. Dropping their marathon time by a few minutes at a professional level is insane! Can't disagree with the hype though. I also disliked that marketing. And yes, new shoes will be made, not just because they didn't break 2 hours, but also because Nike does make improvements with most models of it's running shoes. I don't think this would be too much of an issue if they weren't so overpriced.

    Jamison, you seem to get your hands on the newest shoes as they come out. So I am asking you this question, plus I value your opinion. I have been running in the Vaporfly 4%. Do you think the new Adidas adios Sub2's will be a more practical shoe, maybe even better than the Nike Vaporfly ? Thank you.

    Rarely ever comment on videos, but it's nice to see a performance review on this, so thank you for this!
    Seeing in your video that you're more of a forefoot striker, any idea on whether you feel it may be an issue for those who land on their midfoot or heel?

    • @JamisonMichael
      @JamisonMichael  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think a midfoot striker would benefit best with this shoe. The shoe almost pushes you foward to where if you land on the midfoot. If someone heel strikes in the shoe i feel like that carbon plate will start to bother them after awhile. Its hard to explain, but Im guessing since Nike made this shoe for the "fast" runners who likely have better form than the casual runner, its configured to work best toward the runners with the "correct" foot strike. which would be more of a midfoot striker. Im far from a heel striker, so i cant say for sure. I felt fine coming off more on my forefoot.

    • @watchthesix
      @watchthesix 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      thanks for your input! I am a bit of a heel and midfoot striker (I tend to make adjustments to land on the midfoot as I run), so I am curious as to whether heel striking will bother me, and i don't run everyday (3x a week) neither. any thoughts on whether the shoe is worth trying at the least would be helpful!

    which do you think is better. This shoes of the zoom fly?

  • @fenrirunshackled4319
    @fenrirunshackled4319 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    It’s also important to note that technically the Zoom fly, and the vayporfly are racing shoes. The term ‘flats’ would be deceptive because of how bulky they are, but a training model of the shoe would most likely feature more support, and even better cushioning, but at the expense of some energy return.

      Rob Scherer i think Nike is already working on the updates to the vaporfly 2 and zoom fly 2. So I think restocks May a bit leee frequent. Even the. Only a few stores get restocks. Sometimes running warehouse will get some, but people are quick to buy them.

  • @dimension7623
    @dimension7623 7 ปีที่แล้ว +7

    Nice shoe, but its hard to justify the price of these shoes, the Ultra boosts are literally $60-$70 cheaper than these...no way I would chose these over Ultra Boost. I do like the new Zoom X technology, its very intriguing. Hopefully we will see in the Pegasus or even the Vomero shoes down the road. Also great review Jamison!

    • @JamisonMichael
      @JamisonMichael  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      dimension7623 thanks! That's exactly what I'm hoping for, a Pegasus with zoomX would be great. A vomero would be good too. Something at a reasonable price point.

      Jamison Michael hi great review, I hope there will be a follow-up review. did footlocker and finishline etc carry these? and what about the other color did those release I'm only seeing videos in this colorway.

    • @JamisonMichael
      @JamisonMichael  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ray A there's a black pair with with that same red-ish strip on the midsole. I actually have that color in the zoomfly. But most people know if the "breaking2" colorway..so I just used the standard color to not confused people in the thumbnail 😕 I'm sure they'll be more colors coming. Eventually.

      Jamison Michael no problem, I totally understand you! I consider myself a slow runner too, and I was hoping I can set another sub 36' in 10K as I did at the beginning of the year. This time I am hoping this shoe can give a little extra punch to achieve it.

  • @Arlo5.13
    @Arlo5.13 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    Hey Jami, with zoomX supposedly coming to the pegasus and other shoes this year, I have become very curious about it. How has it done durability wise? Like, does the cushion bottom out fast or last quite a while like boost would?

    • @JamisonMichael
      @JamisonMichael  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Kaden Sanderson out of everyone that I know who has the shoe the average life is about 300 miles. The cushion does get some creasing, but it affects the shoe more aesthetically than it is performance wise. The turbo won’t be as quite squishy, and should last longer. It drops in August so we shall see

    • @Arlo5.13
      @Arlo5.13 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Jamison Michael awesome, that's what I like to hear! I don't really care for any creasing of foam or materials and such, as long as it lasts relatively long and performs well in that span! I mean, it's nice to have good looking shoes but at the end of the day, they're just a pair of shoes. Knowing that they should last a while though, the turbo is very quickly becoming my most anticipated shoe this year and I can't wait to try it out! Thanks for the info!

      Uzair Lodhi I always like the Nike victory XC spikes, for cross country races. But some people run in racing flats like a brooks t7 racer, and some like a lightweight training shoe like a new balance pace v2. It's all preference depending on the surface you will be running on and how comfortable you feel wearing a different style shoe

    • @javibramasco2690
      @javibramasco2690 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Jamison Michael the name Zoom has always been given to shoes that fall under the Fast & Responsive performance line. Granted most if not all zoom shoes have carried the zoom "air bags" so I can see how it's confusing but "Zoom Air" is that actual name of that technology. In this instance, the word 'Zoom' in the technology ZoomX or even the shoe Zoom Fly is used to denote that these shoes fall under the Fast & Responsive line of performance running shoes.

      Lol thanks, don’t look too much into the form. I’ve seen forms of all kinds, including collegiate distance runners who run similar to me, and sprinters who run like “distance runners” form. It’s a cool to have visuals to make the reviews different, but I get comments all time about my form, my guest’s form, or whatever lol I’ll likely just start posting regular videos of me just holding up the shoe and talking to help people focus on the shoe and not the details of everything else 😅

    Is there any difference between the regular zoom & the zoom 4%?

    • @JamisonMichael
      @JamisonMichael  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      JT mareZ the zoomFly uses lunar foam, the vaporfly uses zoomX foam, and shoes like the Pegasus use air Zoom units.
      ZoomX provides a high energy return like boost and is super light
      Lunar is just soft and kinda light
      Zoom is just air bags that gives you a little bit of springy sensation cushioni .

    I bought a pair in a size 11, which is the size I usually get in Nikes but they are too big for me... only wore them once. They were so hard to get and feel great, too bad they couldn't get the sizing right...

      Sylvain Bauge that stinks, you can always sell them. return them. Out then up on Facebook marketplace for sell/trade. The updated 2.0 version comes out toward the end of the year, maybe you can just use that money for the newer version

    There is a ton of “pop” in this shoe. There’s a major noticeable difference going from these to my normal racing flats. You can feel the forward progression on these. And yes, it’s an unfair advantage if you don’t have a racing shoe with a carbon plate. Trust me, you’ll want it for any races 3k and over. And yes, it does make you faster.

    **Every** company claims to reinvent the wheel every couple of years with some new model, with these two shoes Nike has come pretty damn close. I'll never spend $250 on ANY pair of shoes, but the $150 one will be mine sooner or later.

    • @JamisonMichael
      @JamisonMichael  7 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      yeah the nike zoomFly is a fair price. NO running shoe is worth $250 unless it comes with a guaranteed Personal record, a 2 year replacement warranty, and a 2 tickets to a beyonce concert...and I dont even like beyonce, but at least I'll feel validated about the price 😐

    Is this shoe much better than the Zoom Fly performance wise?

    • @JamisonMichael
      @JamisonMichael  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Michael Fong I would say so, it’s not gonna take someone from good to great, but it does have a much faster, more comfortable cushioning. To me it’s overall better than the zoom fly...but is it worth the price tag/resell value, nah. At the end of the day it’s still a shoe, and you still gotta train. Some people think these shoes are magic or something. 😅
      It’s worth if you’re already in good shape and you’re interested in longer road races. I would say may 10k and up

    I don't like that carbon plate ,because shoe is so stiff and I won't pay 250$ ,I rather buy two pairs of Nike LunarEpic FlyKnit 1 model is like sock and no carbon plate ,but still not to soft and just enough cushioning for long runs and easy for ultra marathons ,I already have 2 100milers in my LunarEpicFlyKnit and upper side is like new ,but my soles are little bit thinner but still enough for another.200miles..Also Salomon S lab Sonic 2,I those.shoes I have 10marathons and.7 halfs and lots of training miles,still great shoe responsive and fast ,light and breathable and also I can run easy trails with them.So if you give me that Nike shoes for 50$ I'll take it ,but only because I will sell them and buy me another Lunar Epic or Slab Sonic2....

    Do you think Nike can incorporate zoom ex into basketball shoes like boost in basketball shoes

    • @JamisonMichael
      @JamisonMichael  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Maybe, I think for basketball Nike made their "REACT" cushioning. it's suppose to be essentially what zoomX is doing but for basketball. Never tried it, but they're marketing as their "energy return/boost-like" cushioning for their basketball line. the Superfly & Hyperdunk 2017 has it as far as I know. Whether ZoomX goes into anything outside of running...only time will tell. Im just waiting for ZoomX to make it into another running shoe lol

    These running shoes prices are getting ridiculous. I kinda understand when they jack up the prices of basketball shoes they gotta pay Lebron, Kobe and Jordan. But for running shoes? R&D cost is probably not even half of what they pay Lebron James. Maybe I’m missing something here any famous runner that pay ridiculous amount of money?

    • @JamisonMichael
      @JamisonMichael  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      they created hype by doing a "big" running event in trying to break the world record/2hrs in the marathon. So they designed the "perfect" shoe. The guys they had running in it ran really fast times and one ran faster than the "official world record." So after that happened they used that hype and gave all of their other sponsored runners the shoe. Running fanatics all wanted to see how amazing they were for themselves. Nike made the shoe very limited, which created hype. The shoe is an excellent shoe in my opinion, but the prices are ridiculous. I think basketball has much more hype overall because of the players. runners are that famous...whereas NBA stars are known by even non-basketball fans.
