Going from the “Into the Wild took place in 2003, the same year it came out” system I use to keep myself from losing my mind trying to reverse engineer actual dates from the books: the present day as of the start of The Broken Code is 2015, while the fire scene took place in the late fall of 2008. So it’s only been about seven years, give or take. Squirrelflight and Leafpool were also born in early 2006, for reference, so Squilf just turned 9 years old sometime during Lost Stars. For comparison, Bramblestar was born in spring 2004 and Ashfur was born in summer 2003 (and so is only around six months older than Firestar; who was born in late 2002, almost exactly six months before joining the Clans). The answer, as it usually ends up being whenever I calculate Warriors character ages, is don’t think about it.
The only issue I have with this book is that Mothwing is horribly out of character, she's far- far too mean to Shadowsight and Tigerstar is out of character when it comes to taking Moth's side, which doesn't at all fit with how protective a father he has been through the arc so far.
I completely agree with you. I understand that Mothwing has lost alot and Shadowsight is the easiest to blame but at the same time She should understand more than anyone what it's like to feel like an outsider among the other medicine cats. The Erin's in my opinion just needed a cat to turn Shadowclan against Shadowsight and Mothwing sadly fit the bill.
Mistystar was out of character too. In Veil of Shadows, she was just really mean to Mothwing and the two RiverClan warriors who joined the rebellion. In Darkness within however, she was (together with Squirrelflight) the only leader who didn't want Bramblestar to be murdered. It looks like the Erins switch her character every book now... Mothwing was totally out of character but it did make a great character arc for Shadowsight, so I don't complain about it.
honestly agreed!! when i read darkness within i started to dislike mothwing a LOT, since she was being really rude to poor shadowsight, she never was one of my favorite characters but i was fine with her until now, they just used her as a quick way to make shadowclan hate shadowsight

If you told young me who read the first three arcs of this book, that later there will be spirit and earth powers in Warriors, I'd think you're talking about a different book.

I believe that while Bristlefrost doesn’t have a power like the others, she will play a key part in helping Rootspring unlock his full potential. In the book, one of the Sisters states that Rootspring must open his heart if he wants to summon the dead cats again, by himself. I believe that his love for Bristlefrost will need to come to full fruition, where he disregards everything for his love for her. His heart finally opens, and he is finally able to utilize his full power without struggle.
I think Firestar is becoming sentient... He realized that the only reason they choose to send Ashfur was because of plot. Soon, Firestar will realize that they are all in a book. He will then discover how to write for himself and achieve his final form!!! This was his plan from day one... Take over warriors, and give himself an actual personality!!!

I seriously do not understand all these complaining about Mothwing. She literally said, “Oak leaves would work more” and everyone is going insane. Shadowsight was the one to get all angry first! I love Mothwing too and the book didn’t bother me at all. Mothwing is a much more experienced medicine cat, of course she knows more than Shadowsight. She was only trying to best help her ShadowClan clan mates and Shadowsight was doing something that wasn’t the most effective.

Mothwing isn’t even shadowclan plus apprentcies have more freedom of choosing herbs then shadows it plus she messed up the whole herb store in general how is shadowsight not going to be mad?
(spoilers for squilf's hope) they literally held a whole trial for squilf and leafpool, and then just let ashfur in UNDER THE EXCUSE HE LOVED TOO MUCH!!! with (presumably) NO TRIAL!! how dumb can starclan be?

Power of three was at arc that had the jayfeather time travel thing(was it also in oots, I read those books a l o n g time ago) and is pretty much the only arc that had cool magic weird stuff and a lot of starclan other than TBC and OotS

You’re still misreading that passage about Spiresight. Spiresight never did anything to help Ashfur, all Ashfur was saying is that he was bending Spiresight to his will. Spiresight was never bad and never had any ill intentions, he’s just under Ashfur’s control now
I want to know what Tawnypelt thinks about all this. Does she want to risk killing or brother? Or does she want to stand at her sons side? Is she scared for the mate and kits she has in starclan? She would be very interesting cat to learn about in this arc

Great theory, Akira! I think you've hit the nail on the head with this one. And I love your timeline and your predictions about how the rest of the arc is going to play out! If I had to guess, Shadowsight and crew will probably win by eating deathberries and venturing into the Dark Forest to destroy the barrier. This seems like the most logical way to defeat Ashfur. ... I do wish the Erins hadn't incorporated *literal attempted suic!de* into the plot of this arc, though. Surely this is *not* the kind of message they want to send to kids, that eating actual poison will put you in a "deep sleep" and allow you to fight ghosts... They really should have found another way for Shadowsight to travel as a spirit--like sleeping next to the Moonpool, or something. Anything would have been better than... this. Anyway, awesome job!! ^w^
Kids should know the difference between fiction and reality. If parents aren’t teaching them that by the time they can read warriors then it the parents fault. It a fictional book.
I would like this series to be the ‘epic ending’ if you will. I think that there should be a massive battle (ghost battle) and the ghosts will win. Think about it. If the cats win, against all odds, it would seem as if they are immune. Obviously I want the series to go on, but there will be super editions, manga, and other similar side-books.
I mean it could have ended with the omen of the stars( which is where I stopped ) with the whole dark forest battle. It just kind of seems that the Erin's are kicking a dead horse now ngl.
I love villain Ashfur so much,, unlike most villains, he's actually able to form a big threat, cause mass destruction, is unique because I'm pretty sure he's the ONLY starclan cat, and he seems like he suffers from slight trauma from he was alive. I like to think that he developed his feelings of loneliness from emotional starvation from when he was alive, causing him to be able to feel lonely. Even though his big plan isn't revealed yet he already had caused many destruction, man I'm so excited for this arc, i hope we get to see his secret plan unfold into something really cool! Let's not turn this villain into what happened in the dark forest in the power of three shall we.
Hey Akira how about this. If Starclan are the guardians what are they guarding? I think they are the messengers as well as protectors but not the real power. If Ashfur cut the protectors of not only the living but the dead off he can take advantage of the real ghostly power that watches over the clans. Maybe that other worldly power Starclan gets their prophecies from may be connected to the Tribe or Rock. The clans come from the Tribe and Rock is the very first stone-teller ever. If Jayfeather can talk to Rock or maybe if they visit The Tribe and talk to their ancestors they can find a solution

Here's an idea, in Graystripe's Vow the Moonstone was destroyed correct. Perhaps Ashfur during one of his rests went to the Moonstone and destroyed it to keep Graystripe from reaching StarClan.
I agree with a lot that was said in this video. They wrote a lot of the characters like Mothwing and Mistystar with two completely different characters than they had in the previous books. Mothwing is just super mean to Shadowsight, and Mistystar all of a sudden wants Mothwing to come back after sending her into exile for so long, but not letting the others back. Mothwing infuriated me in this arc, and it just makes me super upset how she just had a character flip. Like come on, she should know how it feels to be an outsider to the other medicine cats. Puddleshine and Tigerstar aren't helping the situation at all either. This book had me build resentment towards Mothwing, Tigerstar, Mistystar, and Puddleshine.
We need more books about other clans. We mostly just stick with the perspective of Thunderclan. What about the other clans? That would be interesting to see other clans perspectives, In a different book Other than Thunderclan.
I wonder what Firestar is gonna do when he gets anywhere near Ashfur. He seems like the kind of cat who wouldn’t want anyone to mess with his daughter . He would probably kill Ashfur the same way Hollyleaf did or Hollyleaf might just do that again.

I think that Spiresight quote is being misinterpreted. It was probably designed to be confusing, but with what we know now, I think I know what Ashfur was saying. Look at it like this: 'I won't be thwarted. You saved my life, and because of that, you have ensured my success. Because once I'm back to full health, I'll be able to bend any cat to my will...Just ask that skinny black cat with the yellow eyes.' At the time, what we thought it meant was that Spiresight told Ashfur he'd be able to do those things. But with what we know now, I think that Ashfur was hinting that he was already or was going to control Spiresight, perhaps as revenge for saving Shadowsight's life.
Mapleshade could be helping Ashfur. She's pretty revenge-driven. She is still "alive". It would be nice to see more of her, as overrated as she is. We can't just forget about the dark forest
One thing that I really want to happen is that Rootspring tries to use and master the 'earth power' but isn't able to. He looks for answers and sees promise in one cat, none other than his sister Needleclaw! I really want this to happen because I want her to keep that character ark that happened in Darkness Within and not just fade into the background like most other characters. Edit- Also I wanted to add that my friend calls the Ashfur imposter A**fur which I love as it fits so well!

I have like two character complaints. Bristlefrost was such a BAD ASS in the first book, like yeah, she had a dumb crush but she was a BAD ASS apprentice. And then she just became a mind numbingly loyal shecat who couldnt get past her excrush and pretty much just existed to be half clan crush drama 😔 she isnt a bad ass anymore, shes just there. I LOVED HER as an apprentice, she was courageous and did what was right in an almost foolish fashion with no regard for her safety as long as the other cat was safe. I loved that about her, and now I dont see any part of that within her as a warrior. Shes so....LAME. Now SHADOWSIGHT my BABY BOY deserves the whole goddamn WORLD. He better be worshipped till he dies due to all the emotional trauma everyone has caused him. ESPECIALLY his clan and moth. They wont even let him do APPRENTICE DUTIES. And he has his full name! It's so....heartbreaking. He is being used, manipulated, insulted, gaslit, and punished for things he couldnt understand and didnt know. I feel so deeply for him. Right now I've finished all the recent books and I just want him to leave Shadowclan at this point, no amount of apologizing could atone for how they're treating him. That's no clan I would want to be part of, he is alienated yet cant leave due to his loyalty. You're in a toxic relationship babe, you need to get out.

You’re still misreading that passage about Spiresight. Spiresight never did anything to help Ashfur, all Ashfur was saying is that he was bending Spiresight to his will. Spiresight was never bad and never had any ill intentions, he’s just under Ashfur’s control now

If I had to guess, Shadowsight and crew will probably win by eating deathberries and venturing into the Dark Forest to destroy the barrier. This seems like the most logical way to defeat Ashfur.
... I do wish the Erins hadn't incorporated *literal attempted suic!de* into the plot of this arc, though. Surely this is *not* the kind of message they want to send to kids, that eating actual poison will put you in a "deep sleep" and allow you to fight ghosts... They really should have found another way for Shadowsight to travel as a spirit--like sleeping next to the Moonpool, or something. Anything would have been better than... this.

I would like this series to be the ‘epic ending’ if you will. I think that there should be a massive battle (ghost battle) and the ghosts will win. Think about it. If the cats win, against all odds, it would seem as if they are immune. Obviously I want the series to go on, but there will be super editions, manga, and other similar side-books.
I mean it could have ended with the omen of the stars( which is where I stopped ) with the whole dark forest battle. It just kind of seems that the Erin's are kicking a dead horse now ngl.

I love villain Ashfur so much,, unlike most villains, he's actually able to form a big threat, cause mass destruction, is unique because I'm pretty sure he's the ONLY starclan cat, and he seems like he suffers from slight trauma from he was alive.
I like to think that he developed his feelings of loneliness from emotional starvation from when he was alive, causing him to be able to feel lonely.
Even though his big plan isn't revealed yet he already had caused many destruction, man I'm so excited for this arc, i hope we get to see his secret plan unfold into something really cool!
Let's not turn this villain into what happened in the dark forest in the power of three shall we.

Hey Akira how about this. If Starclan are the guardians what are they guarding? I think they are the messengers as well as protectors but not the real power. If Ashfur cut the protectors of not only the living but the dead off he can take advantage of the real ghostly power that watches over the clans. Maybe that other worldly power Starclan gets their prophecies from may be connected to the Tribe or Rock. The clans come from the Tribe and Rock is the very first stone-teller ever. If Jayfeather can talk to Rock or maybe if they visit The Tribe and talk to their ancestors they can find a solution

Here's an idea, in Graystripe's Vow the Moonstone was destroyed correct. Perhaps Ashfur during one of his rests went to the Moonstone and destroyed it to keep Graystripe from reaching StarClan.

I agree with a lot that was said in this video. They wrote a lot of the characters like Mothwing and Mistystar with two completely different characters than they had in the previous books. Mothwing is just super mean to Shadowsight, and Mistystar all of a sudden wants Mothwing to come back after sending her into exile for so long, but not letting the others back. Mothwing infuriated me in this arc, and it just makes me super upset how she just had a character flip. Like come on, she should know how it feels to be an outsider to the other medicine cats. Puddleshine and Tigerstar aren't helping the situation at all either. This book had me build resentment towards Mothwing, Tigerstar, Mistystar, and Puddleshine.

I think that Spiresight quote is being misinterpreted. It was probably designed to be confusing, but with what we know now, I think I know what Ashfur was saying. Look at it like this: 'I won't be thwarted. You saved my life, and because of that, you have ensured my success. Because once I'm back to full health, I'll be able to bend any cat to my will...Just ask that skinny black cat with the yellow eyes.' At the time, what we thought it meant was that Spiresight told Ashfur he'd be able to do those things. But with what we know now, I think that Ashfur was hinting that he was already or was going to control Spiresight, perhaps as revenge for saving Shadowsight's life.

One thing that I really want to happen is that Rootspring tries to use and master the 'earth power' but isn't able to. He looks for answers and sees promise in one cat, none other than his sister Needleclaw! I really want this to happen because I want her to keep that character ark that happened in Darkness Within and not just fade into the background like most other characters.
Edit- Also I wanted to add that my friend calls the Ashfur imposter A**fur which I love as it fits so well!

also, through darkness within, i was really hoping for evil shadowsight. like that would’ve been so good. shadowsight is so desperate to to prove he’s not a murderer that ashfur can easily manipulate him “i’m the only one who can prove bramblestars alive, so you have to help me” and then shadowsight slowly starts trusting and even looking up to ashfur cause he’s the only one who doesn’t avoid him and the only one who acts like he understands him.
Yeah, but I'm kinda torn between this one.
At one side, I'd love evil Shadowsight. It would fit very well with the plot. At the other side, I like Shadowsight how he is now. So I really can't decide.

I have like two character complaints.
Bristlefrost was such a BAD ASS in the first book, like yeah, she had a dumb crush but she was a BAD ASS apprentice. And then she just became a mind numbingly loyal shecat who couldnt get past her excrush and pretty much just existed to be half clan crush drama 😔 she isnt a bad ass anymore, shes just there. I LOVED HER as an apprentice, she was courageous and did what was right in an almost foolish fashion with no regard for her safety as long as the other cat was safe. I loved that about her, and now I dont see any part of that within her as a warrior. Shes so....LAME.
Now SHADOWSIGHT my BABY BOY deserves the whole goddamn WORLD. He better be worshipped till he dies due to all the emotional trauma everyone has caused him. ESPECIALLY his clan and moth. They wont even let him do APPRENTICE DUTIES. And he has his full name! It's so....heartbreaking. He is being used, manipulated, insulted, gaslit, and punished for things he couldnt understand and didnt know. I feel so deeply for him. Right now I've finished all the recent books and I just want him to leave Shadowclan at this point, no amount of apologizing could atone for how they're treating him. That's no clan I would want to be part of, he is alienated yet cant leave due to his loyalty. You're in a toxic relationship babe, you need to get out.
