Yeah, the description really does not match with the mission very well...
IKR! Two missions earlier you get several hundreds of (your own I guess) troops to destroy the Pig. Here the enemy is even greater, so you'll want to attack him with some random pikemen, few crossbowmen and slow knights. :-)))

Edit: The rebels couldn't get to the Wolf's final county, this in turn gave the Wolf enough time to build a huge army and an impenetrable castle. LOL
@Stronghold Educations'The Wolf' should be renamed 'The Turtle', because that's exactly what his AI does (at least in my experience with Stronghold Crusader). He always prefers to build an impenetrable fortress first, then slowly build up a large amount of troops, only to then have them die to the dozens of crossbow men you've already built because you actually have a massive economy and he doesn't. He just uses a large amount of evil structures countered by religious buildings, in order to get the work efficiency way up. The most annoying thing about the Wolf is that often, because he spent his entire focus on a castle, is the endgame is tedious because he's run out of troops, but not walls and moats (the jerk likes to build moats between multiple walls, with drawbridges) So you have to drill through to get to him, even with access to things like Assassins that while can get over walls with no issue, can't fill in moats.
Yeah, 'The Wolf' is not descriptive of his playstyle at all, just his attitude. Really, he's a turtle man in his turtly castle with his turtly economy and his turtly moving men. To a noob he's dangerous, because they simply do not have the economy to build mass crossbow men to kill his troops easily and have a cavalry division to counter siege. To a veteran, you just sigh and shake your head.
i think Sir Longarm and the king were having a joke when they told you to take the castle with so few troops
They spent their gold on saving the king from the ransom. Or they decided to quit on you.

if someone told me he did this mission on very hard with 0 losses i just simply wouldnt believe him... you are a madman :D nice job...
Well, if you can't afford to lose units, then having more or less units maybe doesn't make a difference. In either case you'll need to find a way to avoid damage.
@@artey6671 it does make a difference. Go to crusader, and siege lets say pig with 100 horse archers and then with 300. You gonna loose way more with 100 cause you have less dps in your army to kill enemy units before they kill you
@@thepro5102 The point was doing it without losing anything. Yes, with more troops maybe you can reduce losses, but 1000 lance guys aren't going to help you when they all need to survive.
When I was a kid I never finished that last mission. Now when the Definitive Edition came out I decided it's time for rematch. Unfortunately once again my attempts failed. But this time there are videos like this to help me. Great video, now I finally know what I was missing to beat the Wolf.

galisoart Yeah, this last one was a bit tempting to not go for the 0%, since you do not see the points, but then I became ambitious and had to finish the mission as flawless as the previous ones :-)
I like how your archers and crossbows immediately start to massacre the peasants after you kill the Wolf lol
Very well done! I cannot believe how you manage to sneak to every single detail that gave you advantage (engineer shields on the wall, reassemble for full HP, trebutecht for more bullets, cows, archerts/crowssbow perfectly place.... dancing with the horse over the fires, all in so little time, very well done!

Great job, I was especially impressed with the use of shields. I had no idea they can actually climb up the ladders and block enemy shots from watch towers. I do have a question, at 12:03 the Wolf has exited left the castle and entered the area that you had complete access to. Any reason why you didn't just rush him with all your troops at that time?
I had to look twice to know what you mean ^^. I think thats his wife who is strolling around. The lord usually stays on the keep as long as the invasion takes place. The view at the keep looks a little glitched in the corner though, thats propably the reason why we dont see him there...

I’ve played this game for years and didn’t know you can bring shields up on the walls and on towers. That would’ve been so much more efficient lol.
I would really appreciate it If you could answer my question. When I construct a trebuchet and the stones inside finish, the engineers of that trebuchet disappear when I disband them, so I can't make another device with them but I noticed that this doesn't happen to you! Why?
+reza sharif I let my engineers leave before I disband the "empty" trebuchet. Once you select a siege weapon and move your cursor over it, you will see those green arrows, which let your men get out of it. Watch closely and you will see, that I do this everytime before I disband a trebuchet.

Amazing, flawless execution, micro and speed. I wonder tho why did you leave those poor 4 swordsmen behind at the signpost?
Thank you very much! The 2 swordsmen were left behind deliberately because they were low on health, the 4 macemen however walked back on their own at 0:40. This is an annoying bug in this mission, the AI commands their knights to attack my shields, but somehow selects my units... This always happens once a couple of seconds after you start the mission.
You know how lucky you have to be to be able to destroy that first gate and two round towers without destroying the stairs next to them?

How do you insta switch between your shields and crossbowmen? Is there a hotkey i don't know about?
I figured it out myself with a quick google search but thank you for this video and showing me there is apparently a quick way and shortcut to manage troops. A game changer tbf

Alright, I reached the final mission on very hard, but I've given up. I needed your video. I didn't know that you can make engineers leave siege weapons. Why do they just vanish into thin air when you disband a siege weapon? At first I was confused why you had more than me, but then I saw that you clicked them before they vanish. How strange. But thank you. Edit: I guess you double clicked, never mind.
Cool! That means you also managed to kill the pig in mission 18, great job! Yes, if you select a siege engine and move your mouse over it, you should see green arrows, indicating that the next click frees the engineers from that engine. After that, you can disband the empty siege engine without losing the engineers :-)
@@LordBalder Indeed, thank you. Although the first pig castle mission is harder than the second, I think. For the siege weapons, I don't get it. When I unmanned the shields, I got back one engineer each. Later I did it again and I got no one. When you disband them, they normally vanish, but you can select them before that happens, which cancels it. And the trebuchets seem to require luck when you're scarce on ammo. Did you need many tries before getting lucky? I beat it on easy now. Maybe I'll try again later, but I'm a bit exhausted.
Yes, it took many but not countless tries to destroy those towers like I wanted. You have a catapult which may help if there are only one or two hits remaining so you dont need to waste a trebuchet on that. But if I was too unlucky, I had to restart...
I dont think you are doing the disbanding correctly. If you watch closely at 2:50, I first select the trebuchet and you can see the green arrows. Then I click on it again while the green arrows are showing which makes the engineers leave the trebuchet. And finally, I disband the empty trebuchet while the 3 engineers are standing beside it.
If you want to be extra sure simply dont disband the empty trebuchet. You can select those 3 engineers and build a new siege engine while the empty trebuchet stands around unoperational and does nothing.
@@LordBalder Alright, I did it. It doesn't show the % of troops lost, but I kept almost all my knights and I took 10 (ingame) years longer than you. Obviously not losing anyone and not even saving is on another level of difficulty, but I'm satisfied. The disbanding is strange, though. The amount of engineers you get back varies. Sometimes it's all, sometimes it's none.

I stuck at this mission on easy for several years now (starting around 2016 I think), it is impossible for me and with that poor AI to micromanage all of my troops and they always die to the fire at the last stage.
Also the trebuchet missing a lot, sometimes your cavalry dies to spikes so no fire trap triggering and most of the time the stairs where you went up with the crossbows were destroyed by the trebs.
That's indeed a big issue with my videos! I only show how it can be done when everything goes as planned (trebs kill all towers without damaging stairs) including some not so obvious micro management (avoiding spikes) and luck.
The funny thing is that I just saw a commentary of Jackie Chan about his tricks in movies: he said that everyone can do them, they are just not as patient/ambitious as himself. It's the same with my videos, with enough practice/patience, everyone can win a mission like me, but they don't want to waste so much time trying again and again until they finally get the result that I got!
Besides that, maybe you have better luck with my speedrun strategy on easy, it still requires some luck but it is more brute force than the precise walkthrough here...
@@LordBalder I'll try to "cheat" with saving then to combat the randomness of the trebs. I would liked to do it in one go on easy mode though. This is the first time when I searched for an online strategy, thanks for the video.

so i think on stronghold HD you can't re use the engineers. They just disappear....... :I the fuck bro
Well, I did reuse them a couple of times in this video... You need to make sure to have your engineers leave the siege engine before you disband it. Watch the video closely to see how I do that and it should work for you, too!
How do you get engineers out of machines? Mine disappeared
Simply select a siege engine and move your mouse over it until those green arrows appear. If you then click again your engineers will leave and you can disband the empty siege engine. I did it quickly but if you look closely you should see it now. :-)

These guides are pretty crap though as it is extremely consequential. One mistake and you must do it all from the beginning. For example my horseman wiped out the stairs by mistake at the bottom right tower so everything was for nothing and I had to restart.
Sadly, that is a valid point (the consequential one, not the crap ;-))... I also had to restart/reload when I messed up a crucial part, however, if you are ok with losing a few units, I am sure you can find a walkaround to cope with those situations :-)

My trebutchet keeps missing
Yeah, I know what you mean. Sometimes a tower goes down after 10 shots and sometimes it is still standing with half of its health left after 20 shots...
You can target the gate house in the beginning to hit the towers when you miss or you can shoot slightly behind your actual target, but there is no guaranty that you improve your accuracy! If there is only one shot missing to destroy a tower and you can't afford to build another trebuchet you may want to consider to use your catapults for the final blow.
The idea of those trebuchets is to kill the enemy ballistas and mangonels. Once they are dead, you can kill the remaining troops on the towers with shields and archers. So if you are lucky you destroy those siege units in the first few shots, clear everything else with your archers and use your ram later to enter the castle!
I just saved/loaded right before firing trebuchet :-)
They updated the fuck outta this the siege Fukuyama disappear when decommissioning and your knights can't cross the most it's limit impossible now
