a message from your scribe... "AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH" ... best message ever... that will teach you to frown at me when my popularity goes down the drain :D
fuck this mission..... everything went well when the fucking fire broke out... destroyed my whole economy, all bakeries, farms, weapon production, houses... everything
Space your buildings for 4 tiles around. You can clump the buildings together in the numbers how many firemen you have. For example you have 4 bakeries together, then there must be 4 firemen spots to flush it simultaneously
Like so many here I never would've thought of rebuilding and expanding the castle (and village) like that. I haven't tried yet but I believe that's finally gonna take me past this level (on normal lol)
This level in the new DE was nightmare fuel for me... took 5 or so attempts. By the end my castle looked similar to yours... except everything was built on completely scorched land. When buildings started on fire I ended up just deleting them because there was often no way to put the fires out, even with like 10+ wells. They just spread too quickly.
Yeah, fire has always been a problem in Stronghold! You need to have those big spaces between buildings or building areas to limit the fire spreading and enough wells to put it out quickly. 10+ wells might sound a lot to you, but thats a really low number, atleast when you build your buildings close to each other! I just checked: out of my 120 peasants, around 40 were sitting at wells, so that makes 1 well for every 2 buildings!
@@LordBalder No kidding, fire is insanely strong. The funny thing is if you're playing through the campaigns sequentially, combat and then the economic one, this is really the first level where you have to fight fires, so you really don't get much of a warning if you're new to the game! A real trial by fire.... hah.
Fires in the classic stronghold games are merciless. I think firefly has exaggerated their effect enormously. I'd like to see you do the custom scenario in which you have to build a gigantic village. I sadly don't know what the english title is (I have another language version of SH). Roughly translates to "Flourishing city", or something along those lines. Hopefully you know which one I mean :)
That mission will be next on my list. I already have a vague idea of how the castle should look like in the end, but I am still working on how to get there as fast as possible...
and they only give u 5 archers(in the start with the bows) and i think like 4 or 5 more in the process, we don't cpount monks, bc won't do a good job as archers(still i like them but they'll probably die tryng to protect u)
I did maybe 80% of normal difficulty in the definitive edition version and it’s just sooo impossible….And it’s 2 times easier than the hard difficulty level shown here😫 let’s start watching and get the assistance needed hahah, the underrated heroe of people 🙏 thank you for the video
@@LordBalder haha to be honest I was happy watching it as I was not off too much from your style so I was close ❤️but still I struggled with normal mission a lot. I am sure there will be people feeling relieve finding the video after few years 😂 keep it up 🙏
Everytime that I'm struggling with something i look it up on your channel ahahaha. I've noticed in the beggining of most missions you change the game speed to either low or high. Does that also effect events like time until defeat, the bandits appearance or wolves?
I'm glad they help you! The game speed does not effect events, I have to slow down, when there is too much to do for me in too little time and once i can keep up with the pace, I increase speed again, that's all ^^
even when trying to do it in easy difficulty and following your video i still can't do it in time ! The fire comes before i can do wells and burn everything, it always burn the wood forest, the tower i build there is always destroyed by the bandits... This mission is a true pain >
This mission is indeed challenging. You should place your woodcutters a little bit outside of the forest rather than inside so that only the single hut burns down. The important buildings should be protected by wells from the beginning, you have the gold to build them! And in general, place your buildings several tiles apart from each other to prevent the fire spreading. For your protection, you need the middle tower, the small one is not tough enough, and you have to repare it after each wave... Besides that, you can watch me finish this mission on easy difficulty in my speedrun in 4:35 min :-D
What is defined as 'Finishing the Castle' in this mission? I tried enclosing the signpost entirely right next to it, but apparently that's not 'Finishing the Castle' as they say.
I just tried a little bit and it seems that there is some kind of point near the quarry area that also counts as an open spot which needs to be outside the walls. Maybe there are more spots. You can try it yourself by building a normal wall around your keep and then gradually extend it to the edge of the map to see where a wall is needed and where not.
Just started to play this game and I'm still trying to understand it better. How come you didn't place any mills until later? I thought they were necessary to turn the wheat into flour to make bread.
I waited for my first mill until the first wheat came in which takes about a year after building the wheat farms. One mill was enough for the 3 rather distant wheat farms. Only at the middle after having built more farms, I had so much wheat in store that it made sense to build a second one :-)
@@LordBalder ohh I see. I just completed this mission on EASY MODE after 3 tries 🤣 So far it's a pretty cool game despite me sucking so much at it. Thanks for answering!
Please help. I dont understand, no matter how soon i build all 6 possible iron mines i can never produce enough iron to manufacture 80 maces... There is literally nothing else i can do, i cant build a market, i can't build torture engines and there is no space for more mines, how can i speed up iron production? Do i have to jam my stockpile in the middle of the mines? Its the only thing i haven tried yet. The maximum maces i was able to build was 60 out of the 80 needed, i have not trained a single macemen. Wat do?
Hmm, what exactly is as soon as possible for you? In my video, I built 8 mines in Feb 91 and finished producing maces in Feb 98. In addition to that, I just tested with only 2 mines right at the start and got 60 iron out of that, so your 6 mines should be more than enough! Besides that, I can only think of obvious reasons: full storage, full armory or not enough blacksmiths...
Lord Balder I guess you must be right, something must have messed with my iron production. Also, i can never find enough space to build 4 in the northern hill, did you do something ir i just didnt find the sweet spot? I'll try again.
Lord Balder I did it, i beat the level! I got 20410 score, i finished 38 Months Early. I used wells to remove the stones around the iron mines and managed to build 8 total. I also built them earlier, starting right in the first month and finishing them within the first 2 years. I was also more careful with the population, i would usually go up to 240 and now i tried to stay under 160, (I spammed a lot of workshops, which was redundant since they were limited by cows and iron, and i spammed a lot of wells, which i found them to be quite useless since the surrounding fires would spread to the freshly put out fires and burn the watchers, so the fire would never end, instead i just demolished burning buildings right away, preventing them to spread the fire) This smaller population was much less food consuming. I also reduced the size of the castle, and built many more ox tethers, (before i used to build 3 per quarry, now i bulit 5 instead) which helped with the stone. Thank you for your help, it was the small push i needed to beat this.
I collected a few extra ressources until I finally finished the castle, and by that I mean I cut down every tree on the map and built a good economy out of it. I needed to be lucky with the fires though but after a sufficient amount of reloads the fire would eventually catch one of the few favorable building protected by wells.
Oh, I was attacked, too, but the bandits have a weak spot for towers, so they go for the tower I put near the entrance instead of my economy. I did finish pretty fast, so I did not have to deal with the later attacks though ;-)
This very difficulty is the same as easy on the new strong hold. I played on hard and the people eat up all my food with that on +4 with me building 10 apple orchards, 8 cows farm, and 8 wheat fields. The population of 125 people.
I did everything I could on this crap on normal and I got decimated by the fires and bandits. I think the game was on very hard at one point because a bandit attack wasn't done and another one was starting up. Ridiculous.

1:15 Yay! I'm not the only one who places hovels as far from catle as possible!
4:18 "Wait what! YOU CAN DO THAT?!"
... Oh.. No. No you can't. Phew..
im sure you thought for a minuet there that the ox could speed up the iron process , as did i , would of been a game changer right!!

Today I managed to beat this goddamn level on "hard". I am so proud of myself! 😂
im here because this level is cheating. Half my village burnt down then 5 second later, Bandits, then after that, wolves then another fire.

your playstyle changed my mind about this game! Do you have plans to do the same with Crusaders? This is just stunning.

Agree, totaly agree
Geez, massive fire in my castle just now T_T
2:58 Hang on, they just walked away?!
Jep, they stay for 4 months and then they leave unless you shoot them down earlier.

Correct, you just slow down the game, the game mechanics stay the same!
