I would rate Shadow Generations 9 out of 10 but There is more that I wanna see in the new Shadow game this 2024. I feel like Shadow Generations should have 7 to 9 stages that are not dlc. Stages that are already there since day 1. I like all the stages that Sega have put in the game (Space Colony Ark, Rail Canyon, Kingdom Valley, Sunset Heights, Chaos Island and Radical Highway) but it is not enough. They should have include at least one stage from Shadow the Hedgehog 2005 so because of that, it could make sense and Shadow generations game can have at least 7 to 9 stages total that are not dlc. The perfect stage is Black Comet. When the player gets to the Shadow the Hedgehog 2005 stage in Shadow Generations, I hope they let Shadow use a gun or any weapon as an option while doing the stage. Like Sonic Generations, they should have included rival battles in the new game of Shadow. The perfect rivals are Emerl and Infinite. They should have combined the acts 1 and 2 of Dusty Dessert in the Mephiles boss fight so we can see what will the upgraded version of Dusty Dessert look like in Shadow Generations. Sad to say that Final Fortress did not have any stage on that game so because of that I wanna see Final Fortress as a dlc stage. Both Acts 1 and 2. Great game but too pricey I think. Bought it discounted on PC and got about 10 hours runtime from it. Definitely the best 3D sonic game, just a bit expensive
I mean, if you're not gonna get the collectibles and missions, then it's short. But there are definitely ways to extend the time, especially because these levels are so replayable.
I kind of wish they had brought over some of of the 3DS stages from like sonic rush, and sonic rush adventure since there’s no portable way to get those ones this time but I guess I get it
shadow wasn't in either of those games though - he only went to chaos island for asset reuse lol would love to see a rush remaster with a zoomed out camera though
I feel like Sonic Generations remastered in Sonic X Shadow Generations is not even remastered at all. The new remastered game should have been remastered. What I see from the new remastered game is Sonic generations remastered is not even remastered at all. Based on my observation, it’s like rerelease game with some rewritten and adding few parts.
Im trying to get it on PS4 since i don't have a lot of Sega Games on there but ill look at reviews first for PS4 if i can find any and see if it's good
I don’t understand why Sonic fans hold this game in such high regard. Yes it looks great and hits the fan service spots but it plays like crap. Classic Sonic controls awfully, when compared to the Genesis games, Mania and Superstars, Sonic controls like absolutely garbage, it isn’t fun to play at all. Modern Sonic isn’t much better either, I can’t find the right word to describe how Sonic controls but it is bad, slidey, floaty, unresponsive, inaccurate, frustrating. Boost sections are boringly pointless. Also WHY is right trigger now spin dash and why can’t I turn it off? With the sensitivity of the ps5 triggers if I breathe on it it does a spin dash. Haven’t tried Shadow Generations yet.
0:55 PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, there’s literally a damn Steam port that only doesn’t exist today because of the release of the remaster, which even then can still be purchased in bundles. On top of that, the 3DS “port” wasn’t even the same game.
0:55 Limited release to the 3DS? Sonic Generations is on Steam with full on mod support, Xbox 360, PS3 and aged well so it can be played on newer consoles that have backwards compatibility. A different version of Sonic Generations was released on the 3DS.
The review was specifically making reference to the fact that the 3DS version of gens was different and in most ways inferior to the console counterparts. All the platforms you've listed are not nintendo so this is the first time Nintendo players have been able to play the superior version of gens.
Aside from playing the game portably i don't understand why anyone would buy this on Switch ? its easily the worst version by far and is basically the same as the original release and still limited to 30 FPS which was the biggest issue in the first place. Surely if you have any of the other options you are getting much better value for your money getting this on any other platform.
It runs good on switch and many people actually prefer getting it over other consoles. It’s way better than it was on the xbox 360 which was at 30fps with horrible drops. On switch it’s pretty much runs flawlessly with a few dips but even the ps5 when playing shadow generations have biggers drops than the switch which is suprising. It looks good on switch and plays great. Plus lots of people don’t have money for a ps5 or the new Xbox. So switch is all they can use for. Me personally I think it’s great. I bought it for ps5 and switch. And honestly they are both great in my opinion. If people honestly get upset at 30fps then they really don’t know how to have fun :/
About the Switch version being the most sought out version cause I had a much harder time finding a copy for Switch rather than other consoles versions which were everywhere
Why feel sorry? A lot of people can't tell the difference unless it's side by side and even current gen consoles get games at 30fps. It's perfectly playable and it's about preference anyways. A lot of people are enjoying it on switch, but don't feel sorry, just makes you seem like an elitist.
I got it for ps5 and switch. And I don’t even mess with Nintendo that much but honestly it’s good on switch. Even if the quality and fps is better on ps5. The switch version still looks good! I got it to play in handheld and the fact that I can play one of the best sonic games riding around is so good. Both are good and some people honestly prefer getting it on switch lol. I do agree that ofc it should of ran at 60fps but I don’t really care honestly and so do a lot of people
@@TomTerrible789 Absolutely not. So many switch games look like pixelated mush because they sacrificed resolution. I'll take stable 1080p 30fps over wildly unstable 60fps with potato visuals any day.
I mean I genuinely didn't think Shadow Gens would hit a consistent 30 FPS whilst retaining the visuals for the most part. By the far the best Sonic Switch Port.
Just because it’s not in 4k, 120p doesn’t means it runs poorly. For a Switch port, it’s surprisingly solid, on par with the 360/PS3 versions of Generations

I still have the PS3 and Xbox360 versions. I don't suppose they reworked the original's last boss by any chance, have they?
Nope. Same boss.
@@aeon87 Alright then. Thanks for letting me know. 😶🌫
It still sucks, but all the other Bosses and the entirety of Shadow Generations make up for it.
this might just be me but i found it much easier on the switch version and i don't know why
maybe it's because i played og gens on my laptop which has a pretty small screen, so it was harder to see incoming rings
Clicking off the moment forces is mentioned
Edit: that was quick, also frontiers was divisive?
This will 100% get a rerelease on next gen Nintendo. I’ll get that version.
Long time sonic fan ..had to buy this one ..
Doom powers were fine, but the control of Doom Surf was pretty hit and miss, at least for me.
So originally I was going to buy the game for ps5 saw it on sale on the eshop with the dlc included 35.99 dollars damn that’s 24.01 cheaper than the ps5 version I still wasn’t convinced so I pulled up this video and read the comments definitely gonna buy the switch version but not the moment cause unfortunately I’m on a budget 😭
It's $30 for African American Friday
I can’t wait to play this DAM game
Great game but too pricey I think. Bought it discounted on PC and got about 10 hours runtime from it.
Definitely the best 3D sonic game, just a bit expensive
I mean, if you're not gonna get the collectibles and missions, then it's short. But there are definitely ways to extend the time, especially because these levels are so replayable.
They should release a Chao Garden app for tablets and phones that syncs with the game
Didn't like Frontiers. Should I get this one? Never played the original Gens but I did play and enjoy Unleashed back in the day.
If you enjoyed unleashed, there's no way you won't have fun with this one
I kind of wish they had brought over some of of the 3DS stages from like sonic rush, and sonic rush adventure since there’s no portable way to get those ones this time but I guess I get it
shadow wasn't in either of those games though - he only went to chaos island for asset reuse lol
would love to see a rush remaster with a zoomed out camera though
@ well I wasn’t just talking shadows campaign. We could’ve put them in sonic campaign, somewhere as extra stages.
Im trying to get it on PS4 since i don't have a lot of Sega Games on there but ill look at reviews first for PS4 if i can find any and see if it's good
Kinda disappointed that it's stuck with 30 fps. Guess I'll just have to save up for an Xbox or PS5.
Looks so damn good
Im not sure that is an accurate statement about Frontiers ..seemed to be nearly universally liked by players..
pretty sure it's Sonic Cross Shadow Generations
Gamespot actually called it "Sonic Times Shadow Generations"... then wondered why nobody took them seriously...
@@BritBox777Actually it's "Sonic 10 Shadow Generations!" :D
@@cliffturbo2146 No. Its Sonic Chi Shadow Generations
it's sonic two diagonal converging lines shadow generations, actually
Amazing game I beat the game when it came out on the ps3, and I will beat it again. This game is too good to not revisit
I'm sorry, that competent impression of Shadow threw me off hard
I def feel like it plays / looks better on handheld. But that prolly goes without saying lol
Is the quality way down on switch, its like 13 GB on switch, but 50 GB on Playstation.
Why did it look like one of the scenes in the video look like chemical plant zone?
A good 3d sonic port on switch
Nice
It's much smoother than the Xbox 360 original
30fps?? Dude the Dreamcast ran at 60…. Hard pass on this
Just what I needed to know.
I always like Sonic on Nintendo so he can be with Mario
I like Sonic X Shadow Generations
super awesome sonics game. gonna buy it
I don’t understand why Sonic fans hold this game in such high regard.
You forgot to mention all of the unnecessary censorship compared to the original
Is it worth what?
I get this game is so amazing 🤩
Excellent job 9/10👍
Yes 💎🦔💨
PLEASE learn that X in this context is pronounced CROSS.
That’s exactly what I thought, how old is this reviewer?
The review was specifically making reference to the fact that the 3DS version of gens was different and in most ways inferior to the console counterparts. All the platforms you've listed are not nintendo so this is the first time Nintendo players have been able to play the superior version of gens.
@@Just_Shaunwell, we got wii u, i think
@@krisjoltNo, Generations did not come out on Wii U. Only sonic games on Wii U were Lost World and Boom (Not counting mario and sonic games)
@oneofmanyalexs ah. What a shame
I just love playing games in handheld. I don't even take my Switch outside very much, I just enjoy laying down and having the console in my hands.
About the Switch version being the most sought out version cause I had a much harder time finding a copy for Switch rather than other consoles versions which were everywhere
Switch is such a joke. When are they gonna release an updated version of the switch?
Next year
Got it on PC. I feel sorry for folks who are still stuck on Switch hardware lol LOVE Nintendo but this is not a game I'd want to play at 30fps.
Why feel sorry? A lot of people can't tell the difference unless it's side by side and even current gen consoles get games at 30fps. It's perfectly playable and it's about preference anyways. A lot of people are enjoying it on switch, but don't feel sorry, just makes you seem like an elitist.
First
You cant prove it.
The 30fps cope in these comments is unreal
I got it for ps5 and switch. And I don’t even mess with Nintendo that much but honestly it’s good on switch. Even if the quality and fps is better on ps5. The switch version still looks good! I got it to play in handheld and the fact that I can play one of the best sonic games riding around is so good. Both are good and some people honestly prefer getting it on switch lol. I do agree that ofc it should of ran at 60fps but I don’t really care honestly and so do a lot of people
@ I would prefer dogshit image quality over 30fps cap
@@TomTerrible789 Absolutely not. So many switch games look like pixelated mush because they sacrificed resolution. I'll take stable 1080p 30fps over wildly unstable 60fps with potato visuals any day.
It's worth it on PS5/Xbox. Unfortunately, on switch it runs like poorly unoptimized trash.
Really? It looks like a decent port from the footage I've seen other than the 30FPS cap
Did we play the same port?
I mean I genuinely didn't think Shadow Gens would hit a consistent 30 FPS whilst retaining the visuals for the most part. By the far the best Sonic Switch Port.
Idk about switch but I've been having a blast with it on ps5, 4k60 makes it so much more fun than the original
Just because it’s not in 4k, 120p doesn’t means it runs poorly. For a Switch port, it’s surprisingly solid, on par with the 360/PS3 versions of Generations
Passing on this one for all the Dumb changes Sega Made to Amy’s character, harmless banter and interactions, and the looks of particular characters.
Nah just play the game fam
Yeah, it’s weird that they made those changes and they were unnecessary, but it’s still a great game and I’m enjoying it a lot.
@@makasete30 I’m sure the game is great. I still have Sonic Generations on my PS3 and actually have a 3D TV and play it that way so between that and the changes, I am a no go. I don’t want to support that stuff because then it just becomes the norm just like dlc, updates, and micro-transactions are today.
my brother in christ THEY CHANGED CUTSCENES. THAT YOU CAN SKIP. it doesn't even matter lmao😭😭
@ It does though Chief
I don't care if it's worth, Sonic is for little kids anyway so it's just not worth buying. I'm not a Sonic fan and Nintendo fan so that's the truth I'm dealing with at 30 years old. It's time for me to move on. Sonic is dead to me.
fellas, is it gay to play sonic?
@@guidemissile1494Think about it, you're watching a naked male run...
@Zerosaber91 oh no wonder i like the games :3
Why comment then? It's like watching a mario game review and going "I don't care about mario games, they're for babies ugh so lame mario is dead to me i'd never buy this" like bruh, disengage if you know you don't care. Your time is better spent elsewhere.
@@no_misaki What's funnier is that the channel that made the video has Nintendo in their name, so he intentionally clicked a nintendo video just to say it's a baby thing.
