I had my first ride on the Mighty Canadian Minebuster back in 1986, which was my very first time visiting the park. I would have been 5 years old then, but quite tall for my age, which worked out well for surpassing the minimum height requirement for the roller coasters. I remember riding the Minebuster and being extremely scared for my life! Those original bunny hills, both outbound and inbound at the time, gave so much incredible airtime that I had to grasp the buzz bar for fear of “flying out” of my seat. After a few rides on it, I discovered that if I sat in row 2 or 3, I could hook my feet under the ledge of the seat in front of me, and keep me from “flying out”. This ride was always one of my favourites while growing up, and still is to this day! I am very excited that Gravity Group is giving this ride some major TLC, and helping to bring it back to its former glory. It definitely deserves it!
Thanks for the great update! I'm excited that GravityKraft is working on MB... I hope they'll upgrade the trains so they're more comfortable to ride... modern trains (like the ones on Voyage or Ravine Flyer) are far more accommodating and comfy. I've got my fingers crossed that the park intends to do a full glow-up over the next couple seasons... Wonderland needs some quality woodies!
4:52 (leans back in rocking chair) Minebuster was an airtime machine with the original layout, but the bunny hops on the out portion were still fairly modest - and considering the original single lap bar and bench seats, probably a good thing, lest negative G eject the rider! Those bold enough to not brace with their feet and hang on to the lap bar certainly got the feeling they might fly out. So I agree, bigger bunny hops with a higher entry speed from a steeper first drop will be an improvement over the original layout. It'll be smoother, faster and with more airtime - what's not to like? Unless I'm mistaken, this is the greatest improvement to a ride in the park's history. Really puts the Mighty back in Mighty Canadian Minebuster. While they're at it, for 2026, they should reconstruct Wilde Beast as a hybrid and give Thunder Run some better effects/theming.
I 100% agree this is one of the greatest improvements in the park history to a ride. Either this or when they moved Blauer Enzien into the mountain at TRun. I’ve heard so many incredible stories about the original Minebuster layout! Can’t wait for this coaster to skyrocket in my rankings next year
I rode the original when I was 8 years old in 1990. When I went in 1994, the bunny hills gave me indigestion because I was on an empty stomach. It was such an intense ride. I feared rollar coasters until I went on Dragon Fyre right after Mine Buster and I loved roller coasters ever since. When I was 8, Mine Buster scared the absolute crap out of me. the buzz bars offer nothing but a handle to hold onto lol. the air time hill made me stand up because the negative Gs were so intense. The 2nd half of the ride needs to go underground at some point. I do rememebr Riding Mine Buster with friends in 2001 and I couldn't find the area that hurt my stomach. I learned this year that the track was modded. Again: those Airtime hills were very quick and intense. Make sure you are not hungry when you ride this new version that will be the most intense it has ever been!!! I can't wait to ride it!!
This is actually basically exactly my story, age included lol (though I was 7). The ride used to be scarier. And I mean way scarier. Not just the aspect of being young, but the buzz bars and those sharper hills before the water park made it a ton of fun. Then getting thrown into the shaky helix (which thankfully is still the same today lol) made it an amazing experience. Looking forward to having a smooth and slightly more intense first half again
@@DJStevieP I really hope they don't make it too smooth lol. I love the ricketyness of the ride. you are right about the helix. going into that tin shaft was so loud too. lol that loudness made it scary too when I was a kid. I now love that part and so does my 8 year old son lol. I taught my son everything that made me love roller coasters: they are very safe, I showed the system of wheels that hold it onto the track, the restraints and the feelings the ride gives. He loves them. I wish I had that talk with someone back then. My mom scared the shit out of me, thinking people were risking their lives on them lmao!! Now I have been doing exercises to get myself immune to spinning in circles because dragon fyre makes me queasy from the corkscrews. playing hard on mary-go-rounds and looking up and down makes me a bit sick but I am getting better and ready for next year
I have fond memories of riding the original Minebuster with the bunny hills after the drop. I was 13 and the year was 1982. No seat dividers, thin foam padding and no restraints other than a "buzz bar" Scary back then yet a blast. Looking forward to riding in 2025!
Aw man, this is exciting! I visited Wonderland for the first time in 2023 and honestly found Minebuster to be painfully rough. Like, I would happily ride Time Warp a hundred times before riding Minebuster again level rough. I was planning to avoid it completely during my return trip this year, but this re-track news actually makes me want to give it another go. Gravity Group, don't let me down!
I was a ride operator for Minebuster in 1991. I miss what it was. The trains were better than they are now. And the layout was not a killer because they took care of it year after year. But looking forward to this GG fix. It was a long time coming.
That’s so cool man! I actually worked at Minebuster too whenever that crew needed ppl. My main ride was Behemoth tho. But yes I agree the trains looked wayyy better back then. My mom told me they were insane. Gravity Group will do a phenomenal job!
@@DEOTY1 Ngl I hope the just RMC it lol. Then we can get a modern GCI or Gravity Group. So we will have a classic woodie (Minebuster), modern woodie, and an RMC where Wilde Beast is
@ I respect that I totally understand why enthusiasts want a Ruin My Coaster. IMO putting steel ibox track on a wooden coaster ruins the aspect of what wooden roller coasters are, for me RMC can’t make wooden coasters they don’t look like one. I can’t stand the train design with the lap bar & especially the torture shin guard. I would like a Ruin My Coaster at our home park but I’d like a ground up like Arieforce 1.
I remember riding it as a kid and holding on for dear life as I felt I was going to be tossed out of the train with my skinny legs doing little to keep me in. We do tend to view things differently as kids so I'm not sure how intense the airtime actually was compared to other coasters but it was definitely ejector air.
i got to ride Wildcat at Lake Compounce this year and it went from practically unrideable to being a ride you'll look forward to riding when you go there. i also got to ride The Bobcat at Great Escape which was their first coaster designed exclusively with this new track system and can't wait to see what they can do with a largescale custom model. also on the new coasters the structure and everything is pre cut in a factory.
The track is going to be lower to the ground to give more speed. They will have 3 airtime hills. after the 1st drop which will be changed from a 45 to a 55 degree angle.
@ ah ok Gotcha. No problem. I thought knew from someone else that had this info. Regardless that’s very exciting news. I’ve seen a bit for myself and the two new hills are looking amazing!
I think the bunny hils on the way back to the helix were modded too. that's the part I remember that gave me indigestion on my empty stomach in 1994. I remember going up and down so many time really quickly. Now it seems very tame in comparison. Can anyone confirm? I know the part after the 1st drop is modded but I am sure they modded the hills before the Helix too.
