  • I repair the wiper pulse board on my 1994 GMC pickup. A little re soldering is all that is required.

Definitely needs a headphones/high volume warning for the final test near the end!
Nice repair, proof that some repairs are simple fixes and that dealership prices are unwarranted for some fixes.

Chevy in those years, I swear. Every one of them had bad solder joints in EVERYTHING. Especially those stereos with separate amps.

*Wonderful repair. In old Asian cars there was no electronics inside the wiper motor. Instead a dear with switched contacts was used attached to the motor shaft. Also there was a third carbon brush provided for speed reduction.*

I had a similar problem with a wiper delay module on a Ford truck. It was literally mounted on the emergency brake pedal bracket. Every time you released the emergency brake it hammered the delay module. When I took it out, it had a dozen or more cracked solder joints. When I put it back in I added a ground wire to it and attached the ground to where it originally mounted and wire tied the module to a bundle of wires under the dash.

Steve, you know I always give you great feedbacks, I'm just a bit surprised that you didn't remove the old solder and wire brush those contacts then resolder them.
    You are normally so thorough.
However, if it works, then it's all good.

I felt the same as you when I watched this. The I realize that I do not put as much "attention to detail" regarding my own personal projects vs customers work. Most time I just to a quick and dirty so I can just have it working again.

Nice vid, I just finished replacing the wiper multi control switch cause I thought that controlled everything but after a couple days I was right back to square one, didn't know the wipers had their own control board. Going to pull mine off and see if I can see any obvious damage and hopefully there is so I can repair rather than replace the board.

You are super! , many electronics I have repaired with your help.
I would love to know the value and part number for the huge diode on the board.
That diode cracks in half from wipers being frozen to window by ice and is the most common issue in my Pacific NW city.
Thanks and keep up the great vid's and tips!

    ugh that dry wiper noise.
You sure it wasn't an intake gasket? Those engines are notorious for intake gasket, door hinges, fuel pump sending module, wiper pulse control board and ABS control module issues.
