    I agree with a few comments below - clear instructions without needing voice over, and loved the instances where you showed we might need to make changes as we go.

    Great video. The instructions on the Everbilt packaging were terrible and I couldn't any help on their website. Thank you for the well edited, step by step video.

    Perfect video...no time wasted talking about the history of gate latches or trying to over explain what you were doing...liked the two little mistakes or re-work you threw in to show what can typically happen to beginning DIYers. Well done

    At around 3:05 you show a very important example of adjusting correctly. I know someone who's had both their front and back gates posts splintered because of this error that wasn't corrected. The gates swung open at some point, and then forced back into the posts by very strong winds. Thanks for the video.

      Yeah Mine worked out pretty good,it tends to stick some, mostly when I push the thumb button down that raises the locking bar, it doesn't allways want to drop back in place,(sticks up) I'm hoping it will just wear in eventually. The video helped with hardware placement, but not troubleshooting,or does and don'ts.

      @@Woodified the latch still seems to stick in the up position,but it's metal against metal that's sticking,seems to be the paint, also closing the gate, anything more than gentle,the door just bounces back open,the bar won't drop fast enough or sometimes at all,but it still works.thanks again.👍

    Do you make a separate hole for the handle, or are they both going through the long hole for lever?

    • @Woodified
      @Woodified  ปีที่แล้ว

      No. I only made one hole as shown in the video. The lever goes through the hole.

    Can you confirm if notch on locking bar is required to be inserted fully inside the bracket or one notch need inside and other outside ? Please revert back

    • @Woodified
      @Woodified  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      One notch on either side. The second notch is so you can extend the bolt which prevents the bolt from lifting up which locks the gate. You can them place a pad lock to prevent the bolt from being moved.

  • @tamaking86

    • @Woodified

    • @Woodified

      The gate latch I used will work on either a push or pull gate. On a pull gate you'll need the slide on the opposite side mind is on.

      Great question. I just fixed this issue last month as my kids were having problems getting into/out of the backyard. I bent the piece of metal that goes through the hole in the fence just enough so that it stays in place.

    • @PFCMittens

    Can you put a lock on it?

    • @Woodified

      Yes. If you turn the bolt it will slide further to the left (in the video) and you can put the lock on it.

    My latch will not lift enough for my gate to open. Any tips on how to fix this?

    • @Woodified
      @Woodified  ปีที่แล้ว

      without seeing the problem here's two things to check. 1) Is the hole through the fence long enough? 2) is the piece on the fixed side of the fence. Is it too high?

    Can you lock this gate

    • @Woodified
      @Woodified  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes. the bolt can slide forward (extend through another hole) and a pad lock can be placed to prevent the bolt from being moved.

    • @belindalopez3230
      @belindalopez3230 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I have one that's about 30 Yrs old, has a little metal slide inside that prevents thumb latch from pushing up, if you can find one like that there's no need for pad lock

    • @Woodified
      @Woodified  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@belindalopez3230 With the bolt slid forward the thumb latch can't open the gate. There is a spot to add a pad lock but its not needed especially if you can't reach over the top of the gate.
