- I decided to stop today and shoot some video of these cabanas and how they make them. The artisan uses a hand saw, chisel, and hammer to create these beautiful Philippine cabanas. For the slats, they split small bamboo. Sanded and lacquered, these portable bamboo nipa huts are so beautiful and functional. Energy efficient and no electric bills. Leganes Iloilo, Philippines. 30,000php or about $680usd.

Hi if your a foreigner and can't own a land, you can lease a land for certain period with a contract .. My dad has a small beach lot property in Antique which is 1.5 H from Iloilo City and 20 min to main town ..very scenic and tranquil , nice cool breeze coming from the ocean just facing it, very ideal for retirees.. A walking distance from it is a hot spring..We decided to rent it out ..it's a vacant lot around 80 -100 Sqm only 3500/month Philippine pesos or around $75 / month if your interested , you can just get a made to order bamboo house for around $ 600-700 and viola , you'll just pay $ 75 / month or 3500 Philippine pesos..I can ask my dad to send the photos ..you can call this number if your in Philippines at +639162998620 look for amabelle

Hey Mike, my father-in-law has one of these in his back yard and they are a great way to enjoy the day. He lives in Victoria near Laguna Bay.

@@myphilippinejourneytravelinfo Thank you for the reply... anyway, I have seen how Japanese heat treat bamboo to make it last. Varnished bamboos turn brittle so bad inside if exposed to weather conditions. Varnished bamboos are only good for indoor furniture.

Great little house at an incredible price. But I wonder what is the anti-termite used on the bamboo. Those chemical are often cancinogenic.

I'm a Filipino American living in the U.S. for 25 years now. My husband and I are planning to spend 6 months in the Philippines and 6 months in the U.S. when we retires in 2 years.
My question is, is he U.S. health insurance acceptable in the Philippines? We have a United Heath Care insurance thru my husbands Union.
Can we get a local health insurance there? I am 58 and he is 63 years old. Perfect health and athletic but we want to have peace of mind just in case of emergency.

In one of your earlier videos you said wood wasn't used in home building because the termites were so ferocious. So, is bamboo termite proof?

so a question please..I want to move there...want to live in nipa house ..close to ocean as I do now...I'm 130 yards from being on the rocks by breakers here where I live ..don't want to be by holiday destination as I am now in complete holiday village...so question ...where do I get place to put such a hut ....????...

Hi Mike, How long have you been living here, i don't want to sound condescending but you are well uniformed, huts are for garden and beach locations and are heavily infested with worms which are highly nutritious, you need to treat this hut frequently as it will need tlc, A place for Karoke and a hangover.

Naww yoi wouldnt catch me in those i like cement house when i get back and have lots a money im having a house here three story type house for me and wife but those houses are called bahay cubo very traditionalist homes here out in the provinces out here most of the people are farmers or fishermen 6ou see themm out and about here early in the morning when i work out im up as they are when im out pesceful too keep up the good work..
i happen to have bamboo plants on my land.
i know the land i have has two bamboo plants. people living on the land are profiting from it.

Now even U.S. retirees can afford a beach home. And talk about an aspiring entrepreneurship, if the builder could build and sell one a week he might do several times the average monthly income Philippines, and likely have more disposable then a lot "Advanced Age" workers have right here in the U.S.
