  • After deer season life at the off grid tiny cabin seems to kind of slow down and settle into this stagnant kind of limbo. Most weekend homesteading projects have wrapped up for the year and simple living becomes slow living. This in- between limbo where the nice autumn days are gone but winter hasn't been strong enough to start cold weather recreation like ice fishing, skiing or snowshoeing.
Not this year! Scientist are calling it an El Nino year, heralding in unseasonably warm weather. I'm calling it the last chance to prepare for winter!
I feel much better now. The snowblower is ready for another year, the wood pile is stocked and ready to go. The small engines, treated and tucked away for the winter. The bunkhouse floor deck completed.
Now I'm ready. Ready for the snow that will lock in and bury everything that was idly forgotten and left to the elements.
It always feel good to finish off a big project and have a sense of accomplishment. This week it was all about the little things and creating a sense of security.
