I think I have enough experience to double toe. I drove over the road for 35 years and the largest rig I’ve ever pulled with a half 500,000 pounds triple axel 50 wheels on the trailer in the city limits of Tampa Fl I think I can manage that but if you do not have experience listen to this man you could become short sighted. And when you get into trouble, you do not know how to get out of it that’s come with experience so this man’s advice I think it’s very solid. If you have experience fine if you don’t, you’re taking your family and other people around you on the road in Jeopardy think twice and be honest with yourself.

Great intro to double towing details that are not discussed often. Thank you both for the great video work!

It seems like it would be a crazy exercise for you to get a new Truck at this point! You have SO many great customizations!

We think it will be as well. Any time we look at a new truck or trailer it feels like we are starting all over.

A whole lot of people would go to the east coast campgrounds if those states would allow them to pull doubles

hi, I also want to tow a second trailer, but its length is longer than yours, it is 25 feet long, can I use it without breaking the law?

You would have to look up the maximum length for double towing for the state you are in and the states you plan on driving in.

Do you think you could add a third brake controller for a third trailer? I would never want to tow three trailers myself, as I already hear about how bad triple semi-trailers sway, and semi-trailers are actually "made" for that purpose, while RVs and cargo and utility trailers for passenger vehicles are not, so I can not imagine them being too safe in a triple setup. But I once pondered moving to Arizona from Michigan, and questioned the legality of towing a bumper-pull utility trailer behind a fifth-wheel utility trailer to haul some of my belongings across the country, which was legal in all states, except Michigan itself where the fifth-wheel must be a "live-in" recreational vehicle, and Illinois required a dolly such as the Trailer Toad in between the fifth-wheel and bumper-pull trailer, but in all other states I was perfectly legal with the idea, but the reason I ask about triple trailers (YES THREE TRAILERS) is because, the New Mexico State Police told me on the phone "It is not uncommon to see people towing their fifth-wheel camper, with a boat trailer behind the fifth-wheel, and a small utility trailer with an ATV on it, behind the boat trailer" and I asked him, in a bit of a shocked tone "You mean, "triple" trailers?!" and he said "Yep!" and I just said, "I thought triple trailers were only legal in big rig semi-trucks" and the trooper said "No. That is not legal in New Mexico. We regulate commercial vehicles, but not private vehicles" So, I have been guessing even though I never seen it mentioned until recently, this practice was called "quadruple towing"? So, do you think you could wire in a third brake controller for a third trailer if you wanted to, or otherwise needed to? And have you ever seen a private RV triple trailer/quadruple towing setup, in your many travels? Just curious. And I would love to see a picture of one of these triple rigs and have searched the web for images for over two decades and have yet to find an image of an RV triple trailer, or quadruple tow. Whatever you would call it. All I've ever seen in triple trailer setups were semi-trucks towing three 28-foot semi-trailers, which I've also seen on the Ohio Turnpike, along with Turnpike Doubles (two 53-foot trailers behind one semi-truck), when traveling to Cedar Point, with my family. And although I've never seen one on the Turnpike that I can remember, I have also seen pictures of Rocky Mountain Doubles, composed of a 53-foot semi-trailer and a 28-foot semi-trailer behind one semi-truck on the internet, as well, but don't remember actually "seeing" a Rocky Mountain Double on the Ohio Turnpike.

The simple answer is yes, you can definitely wire a third brake controller in. You would have to run the wire through multiple trailers so that you isolate each of the systems. In theory it is easy, putting it into an easy practical application is a little more difficult but doable. Now the laws between commercial and RV vary and have gray areas and change state to state. So, the practicality of towing three trailers across multiple states might be an issue. I don't mind double towing at all in an area I am familiar with but the more we travel it is nice only having one trailer. We have never seen triple trailers behind a private vehicle.
