    They've been modding lever actions with suppressors, optics, specialist sights, stock mounted shell holders and the like since Winchester, Marlin and others made them mainstream.
    Theodore Roosevelt had suppressors on his lever actions.
    If polymer and stainless steel was available back then I'm absolutely certain we'd have seen them made with those materials and likely more of them than wood and carbon steel.
    While the orange army of Pabst Blue Ribbon sponges will flip out and tell you this is heresy, the guys circa 1890 would have loved this stuff.

    Recently dumped a bunch old Marlin and Winchester leverguns. Cool stuff like old 1886's, 1895 winchesters, marlin 45-70 and 44mags, and a few model 71 348 winchesters. Ended up paying for some vehicle repairs.

    When it comes to lever guns, I consider myself old school. However that being said, I'm gonna put something like this together for myself. I really dig this setup. Not only would it be light weight, its form and function would be top notch over the norm Marlin 30/30. I'm an avid outdoorsman and hunter, and I can see several benefits of carrying this firearm on a long hike/hunt where my longer shots would be around 200 yards in the open. Needless to say there are also thick brush on my property.

    I grew up hunting and the 30-30 was a big part of that but the guns I enjoy the most are defensive firearms so I like this set up. I carry a gun everyday all the time, even at home and I train with my guns so I can defend myself and my family but I have to say I've had more confrontations with "Fudds" while hunting then in normal society, and I haven't really done a whole lot of hunting in the last 10 years. I don't know if people have started to take hunting way too seriously or if walking around with a gun, when they normally wouldn't, gives then a superiority complex, but hunters are the most confrontational people I have come across. The worst part is they are purely relying on me being "nicer" then them. Honestly, these people are stupid! They are taking a horrible risk because they have no idea if I'm the kind of person who would shoot them and bury them in the woods. I'm not of course but they don't know that. I've seen a guy and his granddaughter confront me and my family, all of which were armed by the way, because they believed they owned the road we were on. They didn't want the the Sheriff involved though, because they didn't own the road they just wanted to hunt where no one else could. I've had a guy yell at me in the middle of the woods because I was shooting on my own land the day before. He though the noise would scare all the deer away, but his yelling that was OK of course. I had another guy stop his pickup in the middle of the Highway in from of my house and yell at me, from his pickup because me and some friends were shooting the afternoon before deer season. I'm sorry guys but these people are giving hunters a bad name. Fudds are jerks! Don't be a Fudd!

    • @PatRMG
      @PatRMG  2 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      I think hunters get territorial. They see you as competition because the wildlife is uncontrollable. If you're anywhere near their stand or blind, you are likely to get "their" animals.

    • @Joe5561000
      @Joe5561000 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @@PatRMG Agreed. However, The last time I wasn't even hunting, just letting some new shooters experience some of my guns in my back yard. I think they forget that hunting is supposed to be relaxing and fun and they think everyone else is supposed to be just as anxious and wound up as they are about it.

      @@upcycle.outdoorsman9629 Agreed, People have forgotten how to be polite and considerate to one another. They have been hiding behind their computer screens for so long that they forget that their words can have consequences. They don't see how their words hurt those on the other side of the screen so they don't think they need to be polite when they actually interact with people. Most of all, they have not been punched in the mouth for saying something stupid, and it shows.

      My region has had a serious issue with Fudds shooting people during hunting season, and not just a few. We had 5 “I thought they were a deer” shootings in our county in public land adjacent to parks with children last season. These degenerates have hit 3 kids in 4 years, one of them sitting in the open on a rock in the head. Many of them never see a cell at all, and the only one who had real charges was the guy who shot the kid fatally, and those were accidental manslaughter charges. There is also an obscene level of poaching in the area. It is to the point I don’t hunt anywhere that isn’t off a porch.

      I am a traditional wood guy as well but also a modernized as well. I've been wanting to do this for a while. Only problem is it makes them scary so they get out on the ban list. Like Steve crouder he had a table of firearms and uniformed idiots always pointed at the black guns that should be banned when there was way more powerful firearms on the table. I do modernized builds if my customers ask me to. But some times I get parts for restoration with no stock so that's what got me into things like this. My favorite was m14 I did all polymer with adjustable pistol brace with the two metal rods.
      And I did a modern garand. A whole bunch of older 22s I had a recent 3d print for a Marlin 22 came out decent but I was just able to find a wooden stock on gun broker so she's getting restored. And my apsolutely favorite I have a traditional with cleaning kit 1896 steyr gewehr 8mm beautiful wood. I received a second in rough shape broken stock I'm working on making a custom long range competition rifle with it with polymer and cheek riser picatilly and m lock. It's going to be a fun project polymer and aluminum.

    I've been slowly and secretly (my old lady would kill me if she knew that I was spending more money on guns) buying all the ranger point parts and building out my 336. My buddies were talking shit about it when I told them what I was doing, but after they saw it and shot it they were jealous. I love wood and steel guns and wouldn't change anything on most of my lever guns, but decking out a cheap 336 scratched a itch that I didn't know that I had.

    3030 still my favorite gun in the world. I’m 65 now. I got my first deer when I was 13 with a Winchester 3030 at just about 250 yards ( neck shot ). It took my brother and I 2 hours to bring it out of the ravine. My dad said it was up to us to get it to the truck. My brother went with me because I never gutted a deer before so he showed me how. It dressed out to 70lbs. It was the start of my love affair with the 3030.

    There are two different lever actions i like.
    Cowboy guns, and space cowboy guns.
    Space cowboy lever actions are by far my favourite, especially if you still manage to keep a little bit of leather and wood on it, mixed in with the space.
    Never ever seen this kind of stock before, and i will say that this is my favourite non wood stock i have ever seen! Normally i go for all the rails and attachments, but keep a wood buttstock, but your fancy stock has me reconsidering

    I know I bust your balls on the "BUBBA GUNS", but I like firearm technology an this is a definitely new technology for an older platform. They damn sure did it right for this, or in other words I really dig this setup, finally a BUBBA GUN I can get behind. On a side note, the 30- 30 is no slouch at all, I've killed alot of deer an hogs with mine, an own a Win an 2 marlins, one being a 1960 marlin 20 in with a factory marlin 3x9 scope, an the other a TK Marlin 30-30, which was a limited run 30-30 made for K- mart for about 2 yrs, I just liked it because it was so short for a brush gun. You done good on this vid, consider yourself redeemed, but just this once tho. Lol.

    My humble opinion, I would use use over & under scope sights. But, I love brush.

    Thanks for sharing Ranger point Precision. I have wanted a lever gun for a while. But any lever gun I buy I will be adding another caliber. Ugh. I really liked the Mossberg but never bought one. It took a long time for lever guns to finally catch up to the modern age. Because when I buy one I want it scoped and a threaded barrel to add a suppressor. It seemed it took a long time for lever guns to catch up. Now to decide on a caliber. Lever guns have been hard to find for a while in my area.

    I own land out in the country in Virginia and I appreciate that you use a suppressor when you’re out hunting. I’ve got neighbors who live in the city and when they bought the lot of land next to my house they used to come out and just blaze away with ARs every weekend….that’s fine like once every couple of months. But ya know it’s my Sunday too and I live out here for peace and quiet. I really appreciate a hunter who makes the extra effort.

    • @Papershields001
      @Papershields001 ปีที่แล้ว

      It’s just funny because they come out to the lot next door to blaze away thinking that just because it’s the country it’s fine. I’ve got 5 guns of my own and I would never do that. If I’m shooting on my property, it’s with my .22 with a can. Otherwise I go to the range and shoot my bigger pieces. I just appreciate that you keep your shooting discrete.

    Really like Marlin 336. FYI it is a pain in the butt to find any parts. Recently Remington purchased Marlin and they do not have parts or warranty work for the 336 at the moment. Ruger told me I'm on my own with finding a ejector with spring. Just thought I'd throw that out there if you're going to buy one if anything goes wrong with it you're on your own.
