      You are welcome. I did my first very tile last night based on your video with your lovely 'Bloody Nora' video. It came out well, but I was wondering if you wear a mask. I used Art Resin which is very/no odour, but it is still chemical, so was wondering about a respirator.

      @suzanadancks  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      JennyD234 That's so wonderful. Congratulations. A respirator would be the safest to use. Even if there's no odour, and you can't smell any fumes, they are still there and they are toxic. Be safe.😘

    • @suzanadancks
      @suzanadancks  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Gina Bendall Hi Gina, thank you for your comment. Resin creates a lot of bubbles and the torch is used to pop them as it heats and rises to the surface. Torch or a heat gun are also used to create interesting effects as they move the pigments across each other❤️

    Hello, I really enjoy watching videos on TH-cam so I thank you for doing this. It is a great way to learn. I would like to see microphones used however. I have my computer turned to the max and I still cannot hear. I also notice that when folks do closeups they move the camera too fast and its very difficult to focus and really see the details. Thanks so much. Colleen

    Do you put tape around the edge of the canvas to keep it clean or just let it drip

    • @suzanadancks
      @suzanadancks  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      That depends on the look I am going for. Sometimes the run-off of the sides looks great and it completes the picture. However Sometimes I like to paint the sides in a particular colour to compliment the artwork. The back of the canvas ( board) , however I always make sure is clean and covered with artist paper, hangers and signature 😉

    I wondered what kind of resin you use, but not as important as I think I will not be able to buy it over here in Scotland. Can you do a video on how you construct your canvas.

    • @suzanadancks
      @suzanadancks  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      dermot forte Resin that I use is manufactured here in Australia but you can purchase resin online through ebay, amazon....
      As for canvases, I buy them ready made and all I have to to is tighten them at the back to support the weight of resin. However , if you're interested in stretching your own canvas, there are already videos on TH-cam on how to do it. I would not be the best person to teach this 😉Thank you for watching. 😘🤗

      Linda Muir I have tried Jo Sonyas acrylics and they seize up very fast. Not sure about the other folk art paints. Most acrylic and oil artist paints work, though. It's just a matter of testing them out in small batches. You can ask this question in my fb group.

    You add two clear liquids at the beginning. What were these two? I figure one is the resin.

    • @mezibelle5870
      @mezibelle5870 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The resin is mixed in 2 parts, thus the 2 liquids. One is an activator, it causes the resin to harden. Thats,why it has be separate until ready to use. It also has to mixed in equal parts and stirred for a period of time to ensure thorough mixing or it won't set properly.

    When you mix your paint with resin does that mean that when the work is dry that it is glossy and protected?

    • @suzanadancks
      @suzanadancks  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Jane Powers Jane, resin hardens into plastic like surface snd stays glossy. You can also pour clear resin over your acrylic painting and it will give the colors a "lift" as well as a protective gloss finish.

    As this was 2 years ago, I'll try not to say too much. I'm primarily looking for colour combo inspiration. It's for a gift & red has to feature. Not my favourite but it's not about me🤷‍♀️. I am a relative newbie to resin art. It has taken a while to find a resin that I am confident with (or as I ever can be😆). Having nearly given up, I am now looking forward to the fun part. Out of extreme curiosity how much do paintings like this cost for a consumer? How much does it cost you to produce THIS painting? Reason I wanted to know is because I've seen what you do start to finish and how much product. (Thanks to you.). But is it worth it if you want to make a living as a pour artist..? by the way why exactly were there so many different heat sources,? please let me know. This is truly the first demo where I thought I might actually be able to do this. You did it in a small space, not much a mess, your timing was really good because I'm handicap and if a project takes to long I won't be able to do it, so you see why this is exciting for me.
      And very frankly,
      GORGEOUS!!!

    What type of pigments are you using? I could not hear what you said. Your resin- you mixed it 60 of one and then more of the other part- not equal measures?

      Paula Foltz Hi Paula, I used epixy pigments and the resin was mixed at a 2:1 ratio. 60ml +120mm giving me a total of 180mm

    Could someone use fiberglass resin? What hardening mix would that need if so? Or just art resin..?

    I love your technique and I also really enjoy working with resin.
    I scrolled through the comments and seen the brand of pigment you added to the resin. Do you have a link to the pigment you use? Have you ever tried other pigments or powders?
    Keep up the good work!

      Hi Sue, I've tried many pigment powders and a few pigment pastes but none match Le'Rez pigments. This is my own brand and I've invested quite a lot of time and money into research and this is the Cadillac ( as one of my supporters states) of all pigments and pastes, hehe.
