Hey man, I recently got a 2002 mustang GT. it's my first car and I'm unsure on what exhausts I should get. I've been told the Slp loudmouths were good for me since I live in California. But I am not very experienced and don't want to buy anything until I know exactly what I want. And I'm not sure if I should keep the stock H Pipe or get a aftermarket one. would appreciate your help!
I do know some people in Cali have off road x pipes and when it's time for inspection they put their stock H back on. However you still run the risk of getting pulled over and fined for no cats. The catted X pipes may not even be Cali legal because of the excessive flow, do some research to find out. Honestly if you want to play it safe then keep your stock H and get the SLP LM1.
+Laixz you could run original 40 series and an off road x pipe and just swap out for your stock H when it comes time for inspection. It's loud but not loud enough to get pulled over for IMO. Stock H and slp lm1 does sound good. My buddy had that same setup on his 02 GT.
Should've went with the short or long cherrybomb glasspack. I have the short one on my 09 colorado 3.7l with the primary cat gutted it sounds like a 5.3 I have a video on my channel
I really like this sound a lot. But didn't know if I should run the 40s or 44s as mufflers. But I'm doing no cats 3inch true duals and 5 inch tips. Please help me with my muffler ideas
I had true dual Flowmaster 40s without cats and it was quieter than with a single muffler so I switched back. I wouldn't run the true dual set-up with Flowmasters, I would try Pypes M80s or Magnapacks.
The true dual Flowmasters will still sound very similar but will be a good bit quieter, otherwise you'll have to run a single muffler to get the same sound. The Super 10s don't possess much tone, while they are a lot louder than the 40 or 44.
It clappes to much for me I have the same trick but I feel like maybe if I didn’t do a dial exists and kept it a single it wouldn’t clap if I did the 40 and cut out my cats?
This will be my setup. Already got a 40 series on my 06 f150 5.4, just need to delete my cats. I think deleting your cats is what makes it clap a little.
The clapping definitely comes from the cat delete. Heard a 97-03 F150 yesterday with a 40 series and cat delete and it was amazing! Sounded very similar to this truck and definitely had the clapping sound. The cats on your 06 should be very easy to access and remove.
KsKaylor yeah, so how much of a difference do you think it would make it I did so? I need to check if the truck has bolt on cats that I can just remove and if I can just put in a test pipe, or if I’ll have to cut them and then get piping welded in...
KsKaylor probably won’t do this to my truck I have right now, as it will be passed down to my brother when he gets his license. I plan on not buying it from them and instead buying a square body or 90s Chevy k1500 with the 350 when I save up enough. Then I can actually start doing a lot of different mods to it. I plan on lifting it 4-6 inches and putting 35” bfg white letter tires. I plan on getting bullit-hole style wheels. I also plan on doing a true duel of basically this setup in the video. I also plan on eventually camming the engine and putting a K and N cold air intake on it. If I get one that carbureted, I’m obviously going with the classic Holley 4-barrel. But yeah, these are my future goals. There still more stuff obviously as buying an old truck will always have certain stuff you have to or would want to replace.
I have an 01 chevy silverado 5.3 V8 and I wanted this sound is it true dual? Cause I have mine as dual only from behind the cats (single to dual out the back also the cats are gutted) flowmaster 40 series that goes into 3 inch rolled tips and it sounds terrible no cracking or popping just more of a moan then anything think I'm gonna put a cherry bomb extreme on and see how that does
This is single in/ dual out. I removed the converters and replaced with pipe, they are not hollowed. I also have straight cut tips vs rolled tips, all of these factors effect the sound significantly. I ran true duals at one point and the setup was quieter and no cackle so switched back to single to dual. I wouldn’t recommend the CB Extreme, I ran them on a Mustang GT and switched back to Flowmaster Super 44s. Look into the Flowmaster Super 10, much better sound for a single chamber muffler.
I still have the cats on my 03 5.3 z71, its straight piped, do you think if I hollow out the cats and run a 3" pipe all the way through the cat to the end and throw that flowmaster 40 on, will be engine light still come on? that way i dont have to cut the cats i can leave them on with the o2 sensors still on the cats and are getting a reading? I like the way that setup sounds +Kyle K
Engine light will still come on. We didn't even touch the oxygen sensors, they're bolted in behind the cats. I wouldn't gut your cats either. Sell them or keep them in case you have to reinstall them. This set-up sounds good but isn't very loud at wot. I'm looking to convert it to true dual 40's.
Is it possible to cut off the cats and rig up a bolt on mechanism so when I getting it e-checked I can put the cats on and once the check is done I can take em off? Also how does the check engine light know that the cats are missing? Will the light go away if you return the cats to their original spots?
I’m sure you could fabricate a piece that would bolt in and delete the cats if you’re willing to do it yourself or pay a shop to do so. The light will be on without cats but should turn right back off if you reinstall them. The oxygen sensors monitor the cats and send a reading to the computer so that’s how the light comes on to begin with.
It’s bearable around town but on the highway it’s loud. If you don’t want a lot of drone, I wouldn’t recommend this setup. If you don’t delete the catalysts, it will be far more tolerable.
I was looking at a flow master cat back system as well as punching out the cats but Im not sure if that will throw a code and how would you keep it from doing that with the sensors in
I live in oklahoma and it's cool if you run no cats or whatever the hell you want lol, when you did away with your cats did it throw a check engine light? The reason I haven't gutted or cut my cats yet is because a buddy of mine had an 07 classic and said the next morning after the cut his cats the truck didn't start. Idk maybe that was just the way his truck ran be a use obviously yours runs great
Trevor Gamble Yes, the check engine light is on. Never had a single issue with the truck not turning over or running improperly in the 3.5 years the cats have been removed.
so no cats.. are the o2's throwing a code? (Engine light on?) I got the same truck but both of my cats are ruined because of a misfire for a long time, and it's the only reason my engine light is still on. So i'm thinking about just cutting them, welding pipe in place of them and keeping stock muffler for now. thoughts? +Kyle K
I am having the same exact problem with my sierra! Cats are ruined from random cylinder misfire. I was also thinking of just cutting the cats out and straight piping it. Only problem Is I hear it is terrible for your truck because the computer is constantly telling your truck to fix its fuel mixture. I hear you can get a tune on your truck so It doesn't do this but I'm not sure where I can get the tune or what tune it even is.
Nick Clark only upstream 02s control a/f mixture. downstream just monitor converter efficiency. and as for tunes get a dyno or mail in ECU tune like blackbear performance.
What about low end torque the same or increase, sorry for all the qeastion said I've got the same year Silverado 5.3 and it's pretty quick for a truck, it's a single cab truck, I'm researching exhaust setups rn
Oh yeah, it didn't use to spin tires at all but after the cai, duals, and removing the cats it'll spin from a stop fairly easily. Low end torque definitely increased. I have a 0-60 video of it and a ton of other videos from when it was straight piped too. I need to upload them soon.
Does it clap out? Thinking about doing this I already had straight pipe catless and it was too much lol , current set up is just a muffler delete. Wanna go with a different sound
It sounds pretty sexy, there is a cackle around 1800 RPM but it’s not obnoxious like the catless straights at all. This truck has had muffler delete setups, plus the catless muffler delete and now catless Flows for the last 6 years. I’d highly recommend it 👍
@@Jj308 It’s not loud enough to get pulled over. I’ve ran true dual catless Flowmaster 40s as well and I definitely prefer the single to dual setup. The true duals were louder above 2500 rpms but the single to dual is louder at start up, idle, and normal driving. The sweet spot is around that 1800 rpm mark.
Update I finally did the set up and I added a electric cut out ! gives it that extra mean sound when it’s opened ! best set up I’ve had so far. Thanks man you were right catless flows sound👌🏽
I pretty much have the same deleted cats but with dual in /dual out super 44 with 4" tips very nice sound & not too loud on the inside..I used the 02 sensor spacers to get rid of the engine light.
Matt Ward Can you post a sound clip of your truck? I've always been curious how the dual in and out muffler would sound. I had true dual (2) Original 40 series at one point but it was much quieter with the two mufflers so I swapped back to single to dual.
casey lee you can probably pass inspection but will fail smog or emission tests. Where I live we don't have any testing or inspections so it doesn't matter for me.
I went to a muffler shop for the Flowmaster dual exhaust. Paid a guy cash to cut the catalytic converters off, you’ll be hard pressed to find anyone to do it.
I've got a flowmaster super 44 duals on my 01 z71 and I didn't get the cats took off when I get it done can u still do it after u have had the exhaust put on ?
Parker Casteel Yeah, a single 2 chamber muffler isn’t very loud on takeoff. I have true dual single chamber super 10 mufflers on my 2011 and it’s actually pretty quiet. Going to take the mufflers off and run straight pipes again.
Hmm, high flows will keep you legal for emissions. The exhaust will be quieter but deeper and also not smell like gas. I prefer no cats at all because of the extra sound volume but I also don’t have emissions regulations and it’s not a daily driver so the loudness does not get bothersome.
I did not mess with the oxygen sensors and check engine light is fully lit up but have had no issues with the truck for almost 7 years now without the cats.
devin brewer 40 and no cats is much louder at start-up, idle, cruising, and maybe a tad quieter or about the same at wot as the no muffler and cats. I definitely like the 40 and no cats much better, very rare and unique on a 5.3 where I live.
Hey bro thinking about doing this to my truck.. I already have the single in dual out 40 installed so how much do you think it would cost to just swap out the stock card for the high flow cars
G-force Gaming I am not sure, best thing for you to do would be to contact your local shops for estimates. I simply paid a friend $75 to remove the cats and weld pipes in place as all muffler shops refused the work since it’s illegal.
General field with cats but no muffler had by far more power. No cats and no muffler was so sluggish and gutless. Once I added this flowmaster it helped with the back pressure significantly and I could spin the tires from a stop again.
I switched to true dual Flowmaster 40s and it was quieter and not near as aggressive so I swapped back to a single in/ dual out muffler. My 2011 has catback true duals with 8” glasspacks.
Anything under 2500rpms, this truck is louder than the true dual setup. The sweet spot for this rig is right at 1800rpm where you get the really loud “clap” if you will. The truck with true duals came to life at 2500 rpms but you’re giving it a good but more gas to achieve that. WOT the true dual truck was way louder too but for normal everyday driving the catless Flowmaster setup is louder.
Only problems you’re gonna have is gas mileage. Once those cats are removed, the O2 censors will trip the check engine light, for some goddamn reason, it dumps more fuel into the engine. So if you’re worried bout mpg’s, don’t do it
@@darenmaclin4573 two spark plug anti foulers for each down stream sensor, drill a hole in one anti fouler so the o2 sensor can go through, then put the other over it and install in the stock position. If you have a Chevy truck it's going to be the 18mm washer type fouler
@@richardshortridge8052 It will be a lot quieter than catless straights but it has a really nice tone and still makes plenty of noise. Since yours is a Dodge it could have a completely different tone/ pitch. It’s hard to say and I’ve never heard a Dodge of your gen with catless Flows before. Only older models
KsKaylor appreciate it I actually got this setup on my ford and it wasn’t loud enough and I got a super 10 and I’m much happier maybe single in single out was why it was quiet but on the highway I didn’t notice much drone especially over my mud tires.
Without cats, with the Flowmaster and the cold air intake id say it definitely picked up some power. When it was full straights from the manifolds back it was really sluggish.
That sounds bad ass I just got a Silverado that looks kinda like this except it's an 03. It already has true dual flowmaster 40s and I'm thinking about deleting the cats. Sounds really awesome man!! Did you use O2 simulators?
No, I left the oxygen sensors alone and my CEL has been on for over two years now and the truck has ran beautifully. I had true dual 40s without the cats at one point but went back to split dual 40s. Split duals were surprisingly much louder at start-up, idle, and anywhere under 2900rpms. If I were you, I would keep the cats and delete the mufflers, so it's catback true dual straights. I have a video of my 2010 with that set-up and I LOVED that set-up.
Kyle K .. I watched your vid on your '10 Silverado with straight pipes and it sounds pretty good! Nice truck by the way!! And I really like the tone the original 40 series Flowmaster produces. It's basically one of my favorite mufflers from flowmaster. I had a 99 f150 4.6 with dual Y pipe straight pipe and it sounded pretty good too. This is my second vehicle and my first Chevy. It already has the 40 series true dual and sounds pretty good but thinking it would sound a whole lot more aggressive without the cats. The red Chevy in this video really sounds bad ass and is the exhaust tone I was looking for. Looks just like my 03 Z71 too
Yep, this truck had a catback straight Y pipe before too and it was just ok, kinda quiet at higher rpms. The catback true dual straights on my 2010 were my favorite, very deep and very loud! I cut the cats off this 04 and then added the 40 series (which is my favorite Flowmaster too) and it was perfect. I did convert to true dual 40s without the cats but like I said, it was much quieter anywhere below 2900rpms. I went back to the split dual 40 series though and I love it, I'm leaving it like this. I have a few videos of when it had true dual 40s that I still need to upload. I have lots of videos of my 2010 and this 04 when it had catless straight Y pipes.
I'll give you a ranking on the set-ups I've had based on volume 1. 04 Chevy catless split dual straights- obnoxiously loud all around 2. 10 Chevy true dual straights- very loud high rpms, deepest set-up 3. 04 Chevy si/do 40 series- very loud at low rpms, quieter high rpms 4. 04 Chevy split dual straights- deep and throaty low rpms, quiet high rpms 5. 04 Chevy true dual 40s- quiet low rpms, louder high rpms
Kyle K I'd love to hear what the 04 sounded like with true dual 40s no cats. Because that's basically the same setup as mine except I still have the cats of course. I'm wanting something to sound loud and aggressive but not too obnoxious. Just something to give it a nice, mean, aggressive tone that will turn some heads and make people wonder what setup is on the truck lol. I'd love to be able to get in and rev it up some to let people hear it and at the same time grab even more attention from other folks standing nearby. But not something that'll get me pulled over lol. I live in GA though so no inspection down here so I'd be ok on the roads without cats. Just wondering how it'll make the truck perform
Your truck sounds awesome as hell bro, I have an 01 silverado with the 5.3, looking for exhaust. I like the sound of the flowmaster super 10 set up, single 3" in, dual 2.5" out. But this sounds really nice. I live in Delaware & not sure if I can legally take the cats off. If i can't, i know a way i can get around it lol take old cat and just run the pipes right through them lol
Jason Workman Yeah I love this setup. If you run just the super 10, it won’t be near as loud as this setup. I would recommend a Y split or true dual muffler delete if you can’t delete the cats. Also, you can buy straight through catalytic converter shells from frozenboost.comb
Jason Workman Cut those cats off and run a 3” Flowmaster 40. Just don’t run 2 mufflers, it’s much quieter than the single muffler, I switched back after a month or two.
Yeah man, just cut the cats out, get a 3" in/ 2.5" dual out Flowmaster Original 40 and you'll be ready to go. Muffler is part # 430402. I've gone to true duals since this video but plan to go back. The single to duals are louder.
Finally! An exhaust video where the owner actually revs the damn thing.
And on the 8th day after rest the lord brought us cat less 5.3 and everyone rejoice can I get an amen!!!!!!

KsKaylor sweet ima fab it up. Cross my fingers the light will shut off when I replace the cats!
I got a 02 avalanche z66 was thinking true dual flowmasters 40,super 44 how is the drone In thr cab ?
It’s bearable around town but on the highway it’s loud. If you don’t want a lot of drone, I wouldn’t recommend this setup. If you don’t delete the catalysts, it will be far more tolerable.
I was looking at a flow master cat back system as well as punching out the cats but Im not sure if that will throw a code and how would you keep it from doing that with the sensors in
You can buy spark plug non foulers or just oxygen sensor spacers online to keep the engine light from tripping with the oxygen sensors still in place.
Sounds good. This is what i'm looking to do to mine
Did you have to do anything with the o2 sensors?
No, cel is on, truck runs wonderfully.
@@KsKaylor so your truck runs fine without a tune or foulers just has a check engine light on?
Shayne Burns That is correct, it’s been cat-less for almost 5 years now and no problems.
@@KsKaylor thank you for letting me know. Your truck sounds awesome. I'm going catless next week.
Shayne Burns Thanks man. What’s your full set up going to be? True dual or Y pipe? Flowmaster, Magnaflow, glasspacks?
I live in oklahoma and it's cool if you run no cats or whatever the hell you want lol, when you did away with your cats did it throw a check engine light? The reason I haven't gutted or cut my cats yet is because a buddy of mine had an 07 classic and said the next morning after the cut his cats the truck didn't start. Idk maybe that was just the way his truck ran be a use obviously yours runs great
Trevor Gamble Yes, the check engine light is on. Never had a single issue with the truck not turning over or running improperly in the 3.5 years the cats have been removed.
@@KsKaylor Good deal that is all I needed to hear bro lol. I love the sound of your pickup! Do you have them okie plates lol
Trevor Gamble I'm in southern Indiana.
You guys that are removing your cats, what are you doing about the Check Engine light? Is there a cheap plug in tuner that takes care of it?
No one seems to answer this question.
I am not sure, I never looked into having the light turned off and the truck has ran just fine for going on 7 years without the cats.
I got that’s same set up but a 6.0 and a knock off 40 series flow master for my cateye
Do you have the part number for the spacers for o2 sensors I have a 01 is it same
I didn’t use any o2 spacers. Check engine light is on and truck continues to run just fine after 7 years without catalytic converters.
so no cats.. are the o2's throwing a code? (Engine light on?) I got the same truck but both of my cats are ruined because of a misfire for a long time, and it's the only reason my engine light is still on. So i'm thinking about just cutting them, welding pipe in place of them and keeping stock muffler for now. thoughts? +Kyle K
The engine light is on because of the absence of cats but the truck runs just as good as it did with them. I think you'd be fine.
RIG 99 Sold the truck because I couldn't figure out the random cylinder misfire ended up getting a way better truck though thanks for the feedback!
So u cut after the upper and before the lower o2 sensor that's what you didn't had to mess with them
Not true, you still have to modify the rear O2 sensors.
So you cut off the Catalyc converters?? Any problems later on with the engine or anything? Besides neighbor complains haha
No problems with the engine, just an engine light and a lot of added noise in the neighborhood haha
Look up spark plug fouler trick
Can always tell when a truck has cat delete or straight pipe. Too poppy on deceleration. Keep it deep. Keep it clean.
jebusm86 Catless Flows and muffler delete setups are my favorite too.
Are these 40s or super 40s?
Just one muffler, Flowmaster Original 40, not the Super 40. It's part number 430402.
KsKaylor would it sound the same with a super 40
trevor d Super 40 will be a little quieter and more hollow sounding. I’d stick with the Original 40.
I’d highly recommend it 👍
Thanks for reaching back ! Def. going to give it a try
Also is it loud enough to get pulled over ?
I had true dual (2) Original 40 series at one point but it was much quieter with the two mufflers so I swapped back to single to dual.
i have 97 5.7l dual in and dual out flowmaster 40 and wanna remove my cats, where do i get this 02 sensor spacer?
@@richodd2292 Amazon
@@mattward330 i got 4 o2 sensors, I gotta do them all?
With the tailpipes positioned that way do you get mud and or debris in the them??
Nothing gets in the tailpipe but the pipes and tips do get dirty and chipped because of the exit location.
so whats the deal with the check engine light...did it come on , will i pass inspection with no cats
Yes your check engine light will appear if you remove the cats, no you cannot pass inspection without them.
Kyle K What about if you gut the cat?
casey lee you can probably pass inspection but will fail smog or emission tests. Where I live we don't have any testing or inspections so it doesn't matter for me.
Do O2 Simulators work? Anybody messed with those?
Kyle Koewler could you some how clear the code? Or are you stuck with it
Where you the exhaust systems ? I can’t find any
I went to a muffler shop for the Flowmaster dual exhaust. Paid a guy cash to cut the catalytic converters off, you’ll be hard pressed to find anyone to do it.
That is what I want my dad's '13 to sound like
I've got a flowmaster super 44 duals on my 01 z71 and I didn't get the cats took off when I get it done can u still do it after u have had the exhaust put on ?
Parker Casteel yeah, I already had dual exhaust when I took the cats down. It’s pretty easy to do
KsKaylor it sounds good when I start it up and idle but when I do a take off it's very deep
Parker Casteel Yeah, a single 2 chamber muffler isn’t very loud on takeoff. I have true dual single chamber super 10 mufflers on my 2011 and it’s actually pretty quiet. Going to take the mufflers off and run straight pipes again.
I’m gonna get high flow cats with mine, is that good? Or should I go no cats at all
Hmm, high flows will keep you legal for emissions. The exhaust will be quieter but deeper and also not smell like gas. I prefer no cats at all because of the extra sound volume but I also don’t have emissions regulations and it’s not a daily driver so the loudness does not get bothersome.
what do you do with the O2 sensors
I didn’t mess with them, yes I have a check engine light, and no I don’t have any problems because of the check engine light.
@@KsKaylor is it because of the cats I want to do that to my truck I got headers for it. How is the gas mileage?
Man I wanna do this to my avalanche but don't know to do with the O2 sensors?? What did u do with yours
You can bypass the sensors by tuning it out
I did not mess with the oxygen sensors and check engine light is fully lit up but have had no issues with the truck for almost 7 years now without the cats.
right now I have my cat on my truck. I have a flowmasters 40 on there. Should I take the cat off?
What year is your truck?
+Kyle K 2003
no!!!
Which setup is louder no cats and 40 or no muffler and cats
devin brewer 40 and no cats is much louder at start-up, idle, cruising, and maybe a tad quieter or about the same at wot as the no muffler and cats. I definitely like the 40 and no cats much better, very rare and unique on a 5.3 where I live.
Kyle Kowler Im going to get this done tomorrow on my 2006 silverado I'm excited
devin brewer yeah, I had a friend like the setup so much that he runs it on his truck now. Post a video when you get it back
Is that true duel
Hey bro thinking about doing this to my truck.. I already have the single in dual out 40 installed so how much do you think it would cost to just swap out the stock card for the high flow cars
Cats*
G-force Gaming I am not sure, best thing for you to do would be to contact your local shops for estimates. I simply paid a friend $75 to remove the cats and weld pipes in place as all muffler shops refused the work since it’s illegal.
KsKaylor how was your engine after you did this... any tune I need to get or anything I need to worry about?
Compared to the no muffler without cats, and to the muffler without cats which gave more power?
General field with cats but no muffler had by far more power. No cats and no muffler was so sluggish and gutless. Once I added this flowmaster it helped with the back pressure significantly and I could spin the tires from a stop again.
we straight piped our 04 tahoe and it ran like shit i believe you
Sounds like my 2005 GMC sierra only mine has true duals not the one in two out sounds almost identical except mine pops more being true duals
I switched to true dual Flowmaster 40s and it was quieter and not near as aggressive so I swapped back to a single in/ dual out muffler. My 2011 has catback true duals with 8” glasspacks.
@@KsKaylor I'm going to add an X pipe to mine pretty soon I think it will help smooth it out and add some aggression
Joseph Dickerson What is the setup? True duals with two Flowmaster 40 mufflers and deleted catalytic converters?
Is this setup louder than your other truck with the true duals?
Anything under 2500rpms, this truck is louder than the true dual setup. The sweet spot for this rig is right at 1800rpm where you get the really loud “clap” if you will. The truck with true duals came to life at 2500 rpms but you’re giving it a good but more gas to achieve that. WOT the true dual truck was way louder too but for normal everyday driving the catless Flowmaster setup is louder.
@@KsKaylor i was wondering if I should cat delete mine, now I will for sure thanks!
any problems when removing the cats wanna do this to my single cab
Only problems you’re gonna have is gas mileage. Once those cats are removed, the O2 censors will trip the check engine light, for some goddamn reason, it dumps more fuel into the engine. So if you’re worried bout mpg’s, don’t do it

No tune required for that 👍
What are the links to what you purchased
Muffler is part # 430402. Just search around online for the best price. I would go with 4x18” exhaust tips. This one has 3.5” but the 4” look better.

Does it use more gas without the cats or is it the same?
Daniel Kasper I’d say its about the same, didn’t notice a difference.
Did you get it tuned for taking out the cats?
No tune, truck has run fine for over 7 years with this setup.
I gutted my cats and a put a 40 series and it doesn't pop/clap
Did the shop remove the cats or did you
I had a buddy in tech school who had an old shop with a lift. Paid him cash to do the job 👍
So your 40 is just clamped on...no welds?
It is fully welded. Are you looking to add a Flowmaster to your catless exhaust?

Yeah the cat delete and Flowmaster 40 gave it that old school sound.
My first thought when it started up lol
Sounds fucking awesome
How bad is the drone?
Around town it’s bearable but on the highway it’s deafening, luckily it doesn’t get on the highway anymore.
KsKaylor appreciate it I actually got this setup on my ford and it wasn’t loud enough and I got a super 10 and I’m much happier maybe single in single out was why it was quiet but on the highway I didn’t notice much drone especially over my mud tires.
Did the muffler get louder over time?
There is no internal packing inside, therefore no change in sound over time. The muffler is welded steel and that’s it.
Did you have to have it tuned after?
It has not been tuned and has ran fine with the cats removed for going on 7 years now.
My dad's 2001 Chevy Silverado sounds just like that
Colton Randall Funny you say that, because this truck belongs to my father as well. He’s had it 15 years now.
Sounds great
How did you gut your cats?
I did not gut them, I completely removed them and replaced with straight pipe.
question what did you do to the o2 sensors to keep the check engine light off and not make the truck run rich ?
britteny lane The check engine light is on and the o2 sensors have never been modified or tampered with.
What size pipe are you running?
Stock Y pipe with 2.5” catalytic converter replacement pipes, 3” mid pipe, 3” Flowmaster Original 40 muffler (single in/ dual out), 2.5” tailpipes with 3.5” stainless steel tips.
How bad does it smell?
It is a very rich smell but I honestly love it!
Does the truck faster with that setup?
Without cats, with the Flowmaster and the cold air intake id say it definitely picked up some power. When it was full straights from the manifolds back it was really sluggish.
is that after tune?
+HUCK IT CREW it's not tuned bro. Just cai and exhaust. Truck runs great even with the CEL on.

That still sounds loud as shit on video with no cats
What’s your gas mileage?
Sounds great man want to take my cats off my 03 Silverado but I’m worry that I won’t be able to get that check engine light off
Find a shop that does tunes on ls based engines, should be good after that. Zzp in GR does a tune for $250, $350 if you want to put it on a dyno.
I'll give you a ranking on the set-ups I've had based on volume
1. 04 Chevy catless split dual straights- obnoxiously loud all around
2. 10 Chevy true dual straights- very loud high rpms, deepest set-up
3. 04 Chevy si/do 40 series- very loud at low rpms, quieter high rpms
4. 04 Chevy split dual straights- deep and throaty low rpms, quiet high rpms
5. 04 Chevy true dual 40s- quiet low rpms, louder high rpms
Jason Workman I have true dual Super 10s on my 2011 and it’s way too quiet, going back to the muffler delete real soon.
Well I just talked to a friend & he said it will pass where I live, so guess what I'm getting lol
Jason Workman Cut those cats off and run a 3” Flowmaster 40. Just don’t run 2 mufflers, it’s much quieter than the single muffler, I switched back after a month or two.
So just to clarify lol it would come out of the engine, into one single 3" in & 2.5" dual out flowmaster 40 with tips lol
Any codes
Just the expected P0420 code due to the absence of catalysts.
sounds good man
Murica baby !!!
Want my Avalanche to sound like that. Thanks.
Yeah man, just cut the cats out, get a 3" in/ 2.5" dual out Flowmaster Original 40 and you'll be ready to go. Muffler is part # 430402. I've gone to true duals since this video but plan to go back. The single to duals are louder.
Kyle K which is louder true or single
True duals were louder anywhere above 3k. Start-up, idle, regular driving were all louder with the single muffler split duals.
Bet your neighbors love you. Lol. Have a 2004 suburban 5.3 without cats. Kind of stinky to be honest.
Is your check engine light on?
The check engine light is on because the cats are not three and the computer will aways rembers
