    Enjoy the videos. I never had that problem with the funnel, but based on your advice, don’t buy them anymore. You’re advice in history on flange extenders was great help.

      Oh, I've seen MANY a leak from the wax with the funnel or horn. I agree with Steve - I don't even keep them on the truck.

    Another stellar, advise-laden video Steve!!! Love it! Recently lost condenser fan on my AC (12 year old Goodman 4 ton) Thanks to watching you and LEARNING, only cost me 106 bucks. Also bought a Fieldpiece SC 260 look alike for yours. Love the clamp on ammeter.

    Great job Steve. If a DYI homeowner was to attempt this, do you recommend caulking the front of the toilet after installing the shim or is it better to leave the gap in place?

    • @dashitwitit
      @dashitwitit 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Looks cleaner when you calk it but it also hides a problem if you have a issue again with leakage, so I recommend not calking especially if you got wood floors not a good idea!

    I don’t know why some people would put the wax on the toilet instead of the floor. If they are off putting the toilet down, the bolts can mess up the wax and then it will leak.

  • @OnusBones
    @OnusBones 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I still have a silicone spacer instead of wax on ours, but might change it out because it rocks a little. It's not leaking, so maybe I should let sleeping thrones lie? I like that shim idea; that ought to stop the rocking without compromising the seal. I'm going to buy a wax ring anyway and just hold onto it. It's not rocket science; not like putting gauges I don't have on our new Goodman...

    • @jph77
      @jph77 2 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      You don't ever want to caulk around the base of toilet ever because if it leaks you will never know and major damage will be done to tile and floor if it did leak.
