This Magna Jeep is all electric, but the 4xe system in the Wrangler and Grand Cherokee is still excellent off-road th-cam.com/video/J96plJaZx7Q/w-d-xo.html
Great job Magna! Hopefully it comes to production soon and at a reasonable cost. It would be nice to see a version that can be a bolt on upgrade for the 4xE Wrangler, maybe utilizing the stock battery pack for extended range
Neat, looks capable, not sure I’d want to go on a all day off-road trip on electric since you can’t take some cans of gas to fill up on the trail, but neat… sadly considering Jeep already marks up the gas Gladiator north of $100k, this is going to be interesting to see how Jeep tries to validate its price premium for electric. At a certain point, I would think it’s insane to drive an expensive vehicle off-road, and I wonder how good that under armor is as I hope a good poke from a rock doesn’t start a battery fire in the middle of nowhere.
Production batteries on EVs can often take a gunshot without issue, so we're not super worried about that (though this is a prototype). You actually don't use a lot of electricity off-roading, but Jeep has partnered with Beam to make charging available at trails, including at Holly Oak. --> th-cam.com/video/vxMXM5KYoRM/w-d-xo.html
Range and weight will, of course, be an issue. Until the next step in batteries reach production it may actually make sense to package the Jeeps with a smaller battery and a range extender. As the owner of two Wranglers I know that one of the challenges with the Wrangler and Gladiator is that the design is inherently inefficient. They are not efficient as ICE vehicle and they won't be as EVs. It's just the nature of the beast.

The upsides are that it retains the ability to be lifted and all that torque from 0 rpm should get along well with big tires.
It retains the ability to sell about 1 a month in sales. The most important feature in a EV Jeep is obviously (The FIRE suppression system)
Very cool. The motor drive units hang down a bit but for a prototype/demonstrator that looks pretty polished.
The had to change some suspension to maintain ride height but yeah it hangs pretty low. OEM integration would probably be a bit more complete.

Dude! How did TH-cam’s algorithm not put this video on my feed?
We ask ourselves that constantly!
@@EVPulse I had to specifically search for Gladiator 4XE, so that may be the problem.

This vehical is like "camping" in a 40' trailer. It's not really camping. Is it? If the truck is controlling the climb. Is it really off roading?
I'd rather do it myself (like when I first did it) but making off-roading more accessible sells more trucks. - Chad
What happened to this magna Jeep gladiator prototype?
It’s still used by the company for events to our understanding. We’ve seen it recently.
Magneto?
Can they turn any car EV?
They could but they have no intention of selling their stuff aftermarket 😔
Thats just a dumb idea
