Thank god lol the rechargeable version is too expensive, though it does have the advantage of not needing cr123. Hardly available at good price in my area, the local walmart won't even carry the surefire batteries anymore.

So sick of comments like "how many two dollar flashlights I can buy for that" and "they need to use aa and aaa batteries". First off, those two dollar Chinese lights are shit. Sure if you want something to sit in a junk drawer they will work.....maybe. There are plenty of high quality lights like Fenix, Olight, Armytek and Streamlight that will give you much better reliability for under $100. I own and use many of these. But even they have failed and needed warranty claims. Lights like Surefire, Malkoff and Elzetta are built to a much higher standard. They are designed not to fail when your life depends on them. There's a reason professionals use these lights and not your cheap Walmart speacials. Now, my rant on batteries. AA and AAA lights are great for many applications in the lighting world. Especially ,in my opinion, single cell lights. But there's a reason the high end companies use cr123's. Cr123's put out twice the voltage and are roughly half the size of a AA. They also have a true ten year shelf life. Cr123's are much more efficient and give higher outputs and longer runtimes than standard batteries. They also have superior cold weather performance compared to AA's. And quit bitching about the price. You can buy 16 name brand cr123's on Amazon for under $20. Saying surefire needs to make lights for AA batteries is like saying Toyota needs to start using Chrystler small engines because their cheaper and easier to aquire. Jeez people!

@stevewonderful and cheap…… yes you sure can and you’ll need that many to last 6 months! They are GARBAGE!! Quit being cheap and buy a QUALITY light that will last the rest of your life! NOBODY goes thru the QC checks and spends the money innovating like surefire…… so either get a better job or quit being cheap or BOTH!!

I ordered one of these and should have it in a day or so. My only complaint is that Surefire still insists on using these expensive , potentially dangerous and very toxic lithium batteries. Surefire needs to get with the times and price their products realistically and more affordable. While their products are very good they are obscenely overpriced. Also Surefire should be making more models that use the much easier to find and cheaper alkaline type batteries such as AA and AAA. These batteries are also available in rechargeable form. Surefire lights are reliable and dependable and I would never rely upon these Chinese made lights that are flooding the market as they are not as good as a Surefire. In order for Surefire to stay on top they must make their products more affordable and use more economical and readily available batteries.
