Child care workers like teachers are not paid nearly enough add that to the fact that parents aren’t teaching their kids how to be responsible and respectful and have no discipline. It’s not all parents but enough that it’s made an impact.
I personally know someone who quit daycare because a 7 year punched her in the face and cussed at her but she was told to figure out what she could have done differently and the child had no consequences for their actions.

Honestly, we are understaffed and it can be very stressful. I sub for head-starts & daycares traveling to many places but i feel exhausted and I am considering leaving.

exactly. i was getting paid $16 an hour BUT i was getting paid monthly working at a daycare, that made it 10 x times worse and they wonder why there are staff shortages. along with forcing people to get ecs credits.

were I live you have to be 19 years or older to work at a child care. I quit because after 9 years of hearing "it must be nice to play with kids all day... what an easy job" people can only take so much. I had 3 jobs, and still couldn't afford my bills. I kept accumulating debt. My job was costing me money in a way that it was affecting my health so i had to work to pay health insurance, appointments, and medications. I was always exhausted and could never spend time with my own family,, because I was always working. I quit, and most of my expenses are now gone after about 3 months. It was a case of "I can't afford to work here any more" Pay is low, its stressful, and extremely under appreciated.

2 reasons and 2 reasons only. They tried to force employees to get the covid vaccine and immediately workers started quitting. Happened at my old child care and then they definitely don't pay enough for us to handle the situations we handle not to mention extremely strict rules because other bad employees mess it up for everyone else. It's just not something people want to do long term anymore.

The daycare centers in Massachusetts charge an outrageous amount for tuition. Starting at 4-6 weeks old. So my question is, where does all that money go? I would love it if someone could answer me on this one. Is it the owner who is making the big bucks? I will assume these men, and yes is mostly men, would not bother getting into the business if they weren't making good money, obviously.
