Nice to see an update on the lightning sorceress. I too prefer the nova build . No aiming, energy shield for protection, maxed static for full screens and the option to self wield infinty just make it so much better.
This is a real solid build but I think you could potentially do better with an enigma mage or even dusk depending on base str from anni and torch, it is of course going to take some pretty souped up 7mf/11 res SCs plus the odd 5fhr/res - ive always been a huge fan of the real 'real' max vita light sorc and the str from eni just gives you that much vita in the end, but yea those charms arent gonna come quick or easy on single player. Also I've never played with sunder, but I do remember light sorc scaling kind of poorly with player count pre-sunder, this seems like a different ball game though. Up to p5 was typically the sweet point back then if i recall correctly. Another slight deviation from my old cookie cutter kit would be dropping the fcr amu for maras while using magefists instead, imo worth dropping chancies for the mana increase plus up to 30 extra res from maras plus the +2 all skills for a meatier BO, my max vita sorcs were in the 2800 range buffed
Lightning/Chain L sorc is one of my favorite PVM char. My version is a bit different: 4 Tal-rasha set (Orb+Amulet+Armor+Belt) I use Talrasha orb for that -15 to enemy lightning res, with a facet, I have -20 enemy LR on Orb, then Griffon, chance guard, Wartraveler, Soj+ 10 fcr LR ring, Mara. So in the end I have level 38 lightning, 350 MF, 120 fcr, -44 enemy resitstance (20 orb +24 griffon). I use mostly chain lightning, in P1, the chain lightning damage 1-13k (-44 enemy resistance) can one shot almost everything. Merc is using insight, because chain lightning consumes too much mana. In P1 don't need infinity. In P8, I would use Crescent moon + infinity. Cheers.
Blizz is fun as it’s semi passive and defensive but man does it get annoying when monster don’t move and you can’t kill a monster while blizzing twice!
I use Vipermagi instead of chain of honors phoenix instead of spirit and maras one Soj one faster cast ring damage isn’t quite as high but the redemption makes up for it.

That's why self wielded infinity is so good on nova sorc because you get to use the - Res as well as the aura and 105 fcr is reachable compared to 117 for lightning
Hey Phil, do you have an opinion on playstyle for better drops? As in do you feel farming the same area 100 times will yield better drop results than doing all areas and staying in 1 game longer? Also, for rune drop odds, is a javazon that can clear cows in lets say a minute but a nova sorc does same amount in 2 minutes, is the zon gaining a huge edge with kill speed? or is it pretty close?
I would usually recommend people to farm multiple locations per game, more netertaining that way I believe. TH-camrs like myself only do the "500 meph runs" type of videos becasue it's just a random goal that sounds neat in a video title.
See I love the Infinity build with the Light Sorc. I use a Scythe with it and its absolutely destroys any other setups I've tried and I've tried them all at this point. Its the fastest farmer and super quick on boss killing that I have found even over my Hammerdin. So I am always blown away when people don't like the Infinity build with her. what didn't you like phil if you don't mind me asking? Thanks for the videos btw, you are the GOAT!
Iam new to diablo 2 was looking for soj for days now doing nm andarial runs with my lvl86 lightning sorc i have 350ish mf so far i found shit. Am i doing something wrong here or is it realy that much rng.
If you are on single player, make sure your not running players 1. Do 3 or even 7 if you can kill fast. Also it can just take forever. My first SOJ from nightmare andarial took over 1400 runs. but also I found one after less than 100. luck of the draw.
And you have fast hit recovery charm but then again, you know you’re compensating your items for your resistances, and you can obviously get your resistance, covered through your charms and get better items, so hello
This is not a superior lightning, build for sorcerer or a superior magic fine build for sorcerers so I mean it’s a decent mix, but I know really change of honor and you’re literally having better items shown in the bit than you have on
I prefer using chain lightning - it may hit for less but it is guaranteed damage to multiple targets without really having to aim or swap targets. Plus it is destruction from a distance and chains to targets off screen. For extra protection I don't max Nova out - it only adds 4% damage per level to CL and I prefer a little more security over taking 1.2 seconds to kill a mob rather than 1.5 seconds. I throw those points into Telekinesis and Energy shield. With a decent energy shield you don't need the resistances neither. Points are chucked into energy rather than health of course.
Lightning is still good. Its just a different play style vs Nova. I personally like Nova style better, but Lightning is going to do better for all bosses. Cheers!
Try out chain lightning. Its much better than lightning in most cases. Many players look at the numbers and think that lightning is better, but it is not.
Been rocking the Nova sorc with 3 piece tal set for a couple months now, think I'll give this a try. Abysmal luck on the skiller charms so I only have 2.

Well, 90% of the value of this build lies in getting to lv. 90++ so it's a nice build vid but ready up to grind for months to get all this stuff legitimately
Phil, take a look at the OP Dream Sorceress, its crazy powerful at 33K dmg. Its obsurd even more powerful than a Paladin who specializes in Aura. Try it and make a vid. GG!
PPl sleep on Esutia's. Hitting those FCR breakpoints is a breeze. I have 13k cl on 200 mf and max resists and i didnt need to drop trousers for the 2/20 with resists. Those things are smoke em if you got em lol.
That’s not 56 to lightning damage that’s 56 to lightning resist to damage and maybe you were getting attacked with lightning maybe but no that doesn’t have anything to do with your damage plus the other emulate you shown was better than your ambulate in all facets, you could argue was just is important, but the 20 fast gas rate, and the two to all skills and the life and theit’s just as it’s a bit ambulate you did not
I don't understand why people don't put one of their "extra" skill points into thunderstorm. you pop it and forget it...and get essentially free lightning strikes.

I have never crafted a significant rune word above call to arms. what are your suggestions I use it for, given the low chance of finding additional ones soon? (oh and I also found a chem rune in the same time span but thats less relevant for rune words)
Enigma is your go to go no martter what if you have not one already.. it will enable maany other builds + good mf and armor if you're playing on a sorc
Let's say 2 classes have the exact cow clear speed, same # in same amount of time if they were never to stop but 1 person decides to take 3 to 5 seconds periodically to look at drops or pick things up, is that player actively devaluing their drop rate compared to a player who never stops moving? Any evidence or math behind that?
Question: I have an eth thresher for single player I was gonna make an infinity in. It’s for a merc but is this the best base if I wanna be able to have a sorc wield it as well? I don’t want my merc constantly dying
Love my light sorc!! Been spending all my runes on sorc gear this last week.. grabbed a decent cta a little while back for 4 jah (3es 262) and it’s not bad at all! But I had to upgrade.. also bought an obsession for my cold sorc with 3cm 2blizz for 6 jah… the big purchase that really cleared me out was the 3es 664 cta staff!! She cost me about 35jah 20 in runes 700fg and a pair of 2 20 10cb ma gloves. Worth it!
There are quite a few holes in your build I mean, it’s you even noted better items that your character could be having and if you had better charms and you could use those items and you wouldn’t have the deficiency, but this is this has holes in it everywhere

200 fcr light sorc is best wearing 1 soj. its less damage than standard but sonic teleport speed is so fun

I like nova, but I'm not a fan of using lightning.. would a frozen orb + nova sorc be viable? since so few synergies are needed?
I think phil did a short compilation of dual spec sorcs like yesterday or today. I think what you mentioned is there.
i've tested some builds and for going cold with sunder charms now frozen orb+blizzard combo slaps hard and it's so fun to play
you could also do frozen orb+cold nova, but i found blizz+orb more fun tbh.

Im at 58k lighting lvl 95 top helm is the 3 to light skill 20fcr socket 2os with 5/5 light facts pumps more than a griffions.

Nova is just super AFKable and almost as quick if not quicker in some areas.

nothing beats full damage speed run light sorc with nearly 0% mf. Shit drops a lot of good stuff just by killing

It should be safer. Stand back, cast a couple of chain lightning, then clean up with lightning. I only use static on bosses

Rocking 4 piece tala for -15 light res 19/11 griffs, spirit shield, chancies, and cow king boots because i havent found war travs yet lol.
during my playthrough i checked a lot of times my difficulty because I can't believe she clear players8 so easily.. good pvm character😮

Had never played sorc made one last night and went lightning because I found a + to lightning staff, loving it just finished act one.
What happens if i self wield infinity as a weapon swap just for lightning immunes...since lightning sorc is heavy on mana

I believe it is. Requirements are indeed high, but probably the best balanced between spears and polearms
