I think you're right. I'm a Tennessee guy, but you kinda already have a feel for how the SEC is gonna shake out. The Big 12 is wide open and that makes it exciting.
Morton is incredible when healthy. There is a reason Shough and D. Smith Transferred. Also would feel great about Becht. The fact that you chose those two QBs to take shots at is wild. T1 - KSU, UU, KU, OSU T2 - AZ, TTU, ISU, WVU, T4 - BU, UCF, CU, TCU T3 - CIN, ASU, HOU, BYU
@@solidverbalMorton had a pretty serious shoulder injury last year and played through it. So his deep ball was not there, hence the low yards/att. He didn't practice during the week and only threw on game days. He's going to destroy people this year if healthy
@@solidverbal Behren Morton played about three snaps in 2023 without a severely damaged AC joint in his throwing shoulder. You gotta consider that when looking at his 2023 numbers.

K State v Utah in the B12 Championship game. Would be fun to watch either of those teams get a home playoff game against a lower-top-tier SEC/B10 team.
Whats funny is how OU and Texas are the biggest brands, but Texas didnt do shit in the league for years and years and years. But yet entered EVERY season ranked simply from brand bias. Personally the conference is in a far better position without those two brands, esp Texas which was a drama queen that brought the conference down in many ways. The BIG12 of a couple years ago compared to the BIG12 of today, I think the conference as a whole is in a far superior position, esp with the leadership under Brett Y in being aggressive & creative in maximizing + diversifying monetization sources. With those two leaving, it opens it up for a few current brands to take a jump. Kinda like when FSU & Miami took a step back in the ACC, and then Clemson rose to prominence. Utah, Kansas, KState, WVU, TCU, UCF, OkieSt I think are the brands that could take a jump over the next 3-5 years. That said, from top to bottom, the conference is much more diversified and evenly weighted than any other, so it will be tougher for 1-2 brands to consistently stand apart year in and year out. That said, even when OU & Texas was in the BIG12, OU was the only one that was more consistently near the top. Now with it being even stronger from top to bottom, its just a harder path to gain enough traction to be head and shoulders above the fleet year in and year out. I think we could see a rotation of 4, maybe 5 teams be consistently in the conversation. A lot of changes in the game with profit sharing around the corner so finances & NIL collective strength will be critical factors in who can stand apart. The good thing about parity is it detaches outcome dependencies. It makes the conference stronger as long as the BIG12 members that reach the CFP can perform well and dont always lose in the first round. I also think a vastly superior basketball product will go a long ways in allowing the conference to generate more revenues, esp once Brett Y monetizes it as an independent product. Something I hear people talk about was "We dont want another National Championship like UGA vs TCU"... Well, people forget TCU BEAT Michigan to get there. UGA was just a fantastic team and TCU didnt play well in that game, the stage was a little to bright and it showed. But to think TCU didnt belong there is detached from reality and overlooking the path they took to make it. Regarding this season, I think WVU is significantly underrated, even despite a tough conference opponent schedule. The opponents are tough, but when you dive deeper into the actual schedule they catch some major breaks on scheduling. The opponents they play at home, where their bye weeks are placed, and who+where their opponents play the week prior. When you dive deeper, while the opponents are tough, the schedule itself offers some key advantages that I would wager hasnt even been discussed or factored into surface reviews. It wouldnt surprise me at all to see WVU in the BIG12 title game and/or making the CFP as a 10,11, or 12 seed.
Yeah it's tragedy when Texas is mentioned in the same breath as OU. OU won 14 big 12 champs to Texas 4 Texas last conference champ was 2009 before this year and OU BEAT them in the regular season 😂
I agree, Texas has had like one good year in the last decade. But they are still TEXAS, hated or admired they are a huge brand. Personally, I hated their arrogance but I can't deny they were a loss to the Big XII.
Easy pick for best two teams is who has the best QBs, UT and KU easily has the best QBs. AJ at KSU is to green. Down by three with 2 min to go, I go with JD.
So glad you guys are so down on Texas tech this year. Last year they were overhyped. Their roster is way better than last year. Schedule is weak. But they have to prove it. They have been mediocre at best for decades.
One of you picked Kansas State to be a top contender? The end of September will decide if they are still in contention. On Sept 21rst they play ay BYU team that has a more experienced offensive line, a deep receiving core, and now Hill has had a year to implement his defense system. Yes, Kansas State has a great quarterback, but that can be negated by the crowd and having an offense line that hasn't worked together. This will probably be a very close game. Follow that up with Oklahoma State which is a contender. Then 4 out of the next 7 games are coin flip games..
K-State is stacked and Klieman has his Dynasty foundation built. While Klieman is HC K-State will be in the Big 12 championship every year starting this year.
I just got the athlon college football magazine, which has some good information in it but they sure messed up on the unit Rankings. They ranked BYU anywhere from 13 to 16? Really? There is no other team that ranks that low in the big 12. They have the receivers ranked 13 Really. Their top 6 receivers are all returning along with Keanu Hill who gained 20 lbs so he could convert over to tight end. Last year the offensive line was bad and that flowed over into the other units having issues. But you can't do your homework and figure out lack of continuity on the offensive line was due to bad coaching and the tranfers not adjusting fast enough. The writers of this magazine have to assume every unit is terrible. It sounds to me according to their assessment BYU will win one game. My guess is 4 to 8 games. Injures and winning coin flip games are the wild card. BYUs offensive and defensive lines lack depth so that worries me.
Bowman/OSU finished 120th in SP+ marginal passing explosiveness, 83rd in net yards/attempt, 116th in air yards/attempt, 121st in yards/dropback, 92nd in % of completions going 20+ yards, etc. A high percentage of short passing gains and a lot of picks. The running game overall wasn't crazy efficient (78th), but it was also the most explosive in the country. OSU was one dimensional in terms of where it succeeded (big runs far more often than big passes). There's a clear path to an offensive jump, though. OL looks strong, and if they can get better in the red zone and cut down on picks, they should take a nice step forward on offense.
Lets call a wild card a joker??? It's not kalani??? It's an A-ROD problem!!! BYU will go as far as A-Rods play calling and the ability to scheme around his offensive talent??? A-ROD is a major liability to BYU's success this season???
Texas has been hot garbage since 2009, they've done zero for the big 12, Oklahoma has absolutely carried. Sooners had 9, 10 win regular seasons, 8 big 12 champs, 4 playoff apearances (no wins tho lol) LAST YEAR was Texas' FIRST 10 win regular season AND conference championship since 09. Heck BAYLOR has had 4, 10 wins seasons and 3 conference titles and a heisman during that time. Kansas state & TCU both had 3, 10 win seasons but TCU WON a playoff game!?
Know what cracks me up all of the U-TUBE channels are talking about the BIG12 and how they can complete. But nobody is saying how there's no way they can complete. Makes me laugh my ass off. If everything is right about the BIG12. Why are you wasting your time talking about them???

OSU is "one-dimensional"? Alan Bowman threw picks, yeah, but he also threw for 3,400 yards. OSU had more passing plays than running plays last year.
