Informative video! I was going to take it for a replacement but figured I will take it apart and experiment. Looking at your video, I disassembled and reassembled in 15 min. Added lubrication grease and now it works like new. Thanks!!
Thank you for this video. In the middle of an oil change and my rachet froze. When I opened it up, the parts came out. This helped me get it working again!
Had the same exact issue with mine - been meaning to go warranty it out at Lowe's, but was like - 🤔 TH-cam University may have a course on how to fix my issue. Ran into your video - blurry, but helped me out greatly! Now I have a useable ratchet again! Thanks!
thats a bummer.. sorry for your loss , so to speak. ive had 2 brand new Milwaukee ratchets act up on me ... it must be like a.. ugh... Mondayss.... scenario .. or new guy on the assembly line lol.. Dooo let me know if your warranty process ( take it to lowes i think) goes smoothly! i wonder how well lowes is handling craftsman warranties, or if its a mail it in situation
Tu video me ayudo a revivirla. Aunque igual quedé decepcionado con la marca, por lo menos con las herramientas que fabrican en China. Gracias por la ayuda. Thanks for help.
Thanks for your video. I found a 1/4 crafstman ratchet at work that was thrown in the recycle bin. I was like cool ill just take it to lowes and switch it out. I went to Lowe's and they were cool with me switching it out, but after looking at the ones they had, it just seemed very cheap. I said screw it ill try to take it apart and fix it. I fixed it and works great and mine says made in the U.S.A compared to the ones at lowes didn't say that.
I have a set of these and they slowly all do this eventually - if you call craftsman and tell them it don’t work anymore they send you a new one that’s a different style that doesn’t bind up like this but now I’ve fixed it and have two of each size! Thanks for the vid- a razor knife helps with compressing the spring while sliding the other switch components in
Even though most of this video is blurry and his hands are in the way of what he is doing, I was STILL able to take apart my ratchet and fix it based on watching. So thanks!
I literally just used mine, brand new, to take off 2 bolts when I was replacing my thermostat....then it was reverse only. They don't make tools like they use too. Took it apart and the fork managed to come out.
Great Video. I have a craftsman just like that one that I need to find a rebuild kit for with no luck. I checked Amazon no luck. Does it have to be from Craftsman?
Can't beat free. Some Craftsman rachets seem to work great and seem fairly durable. Others are just lemons. Luck of the draw I guess. They're great tools for the back yard mechanic like myself.
Craftsman quality went down the toilet.. I've had to replace my 1/2 drive ratchet about 3 times.. Then this last time, I had to go online, register all types of bullshit, chat, send pics, with a bot, then finally I'm going to have a new one mailed to me next month.. I'm glad I didn't buy this shit.. Home Depot and harbor freight returns are King!

Scored a Craftsman torque wrench out of a dumpster that the selector would not select. Your video I was able to reset it and works perfect!

Thanks! Fixed mine in a few minutes. I'm not sure which Torx size you said the screw heads are, but on my 3/8 drive Craftsman wrench they were T8.
Thank you mine was broken after only one use brand new. The verdict is still out on this design, my old craftsman ratchet has always been reliable.

Thanks for the great video. You saved me a 30 minute trip to the store and $40 for a replacement wrench!
Craftsman has lifetime warranty (real)
It won't cost you a cent
Thanks Doug your video just fixed my rachet. The fork looking thing wasn't in the spring.

Thanks for help.
Estos modelos hecos en china son una basura. Ya me han dado 2 con la garantia y las 2 se quedan trababdas. El mecanismo es una porqueria.
Thanks man this is super helpful. Got my ratchet back working. Now none of my new tools are broke! Thanks!
Thank you I watched this with one of my coworkers that’s older and more experienced then me and he helped me fix it the spring in my ratchet came off

Worked exactly as you showed, that’s kick ass, thanks man

I just opened mine and the spring went flying never to be seen again 😭😭😭
😂 I don't mean to laugh, but I can completely relate.
😂😂

Couldn't figure out where the bear claw went, appreciate the help. Got my shitty rachet for the truck box working!
Even though most of this video is blurry and his hands are in the way of what he is doing, I was STILL able to take apart my ratchet and fix it based on watching. So thanks!
Life saver, thanks!
Thanks for the video. Huge help honestly

Video was a little blurry like you said but still very helpful. Got my ratchet working again after it locked up.
Thanks just saved $20 bucks
A little bit of grease would help a lot
You just saved me and my 12:am adhd brain
“youll wanna get this thing in the middle of this thing” *camera painfully unfocused*

No lube?
I'm not dickin around with Craftsman. Broken ratchets? Repair? I'm not into polishing turds.
Thank you, sir.
thank you for the feedback! i always hope it actually does help some folks out , its nice to hear
These suck, mine got stuck like yours, I 'fixed' it and gets stuck again after a few spins... got a new one with the warranty... gets STUCK also.
squeeze a little Super Lube in there
Isn't that screw a T8?
Thanks
I dated a ratchet once. She was fun.
😁
I trying to follow what you did and it is still locked
👍
Go buy a 36 tooth williams it will last forever same design as snap on 40 bucks on amazon
You skipped right over putting the round pin back in place.
the camera focus almost made me self delete
I am a lady, trying to fix this darn ratchet. It only goes one way, will not let me adjust the other way.
yup.... open it up ! not everyone will have the special tools needed to open it ... such as torx & allen - hex keys
why would you need to rebuild it? its craftsmen trade it in and get a new one
Cause a real technician repairs them and saves themselves time and money
@@chriscalderin6677 🤣🤣🤣
Time and money? 5 minutes to Lowes or Ace for a FREE replacement!
Put the pawl in first next time then the gear
T40 torques. YOURE WELCOME. sooooo much talking

Then put some lube in it lol
the 3/8 ratchet design is shit.. the spring loaded bar popped out of it place and locks up the ratchet..they should all be recalled.
