I was working in Neutral bay today and bumped into Stuart from Blankity blanks, he has aged a lot but you cant miss him. I was only a kid when the show was on but I remember it fondly.
R.I.P. Graham Kennedy. The funniest man on Australian television. Imagine the havoc he'd cause in today's politically correct world. You can bet he'd have pushed things to their very limit and way beyond.
Everyone says it's political correctness that's basically code for the Americans wanting us to only watch their stuff on Google which is why they've collapsed the television industry and anything fun by saying it's offensive .
@@ABCEasyas--well everybody reckons the Graham Kennedy was a lot better than the Yank that hosted the original. But the whole idea is it was in Australian show which is unheard of now thanks to Google
🔹️ I have no idea what network this was on because I was very young back in the 70s. Would be great if one of the commercial networks could set up a digital channel with classic tv programs from the early days of television. Perhaps, maybe they could call it retro tv or something like that
The reason we don't have Australian television anymore is because Google didn't want people watching quality TV they wanted you on tiktok and social media dumbing people down. it won't ever come back because the Americans now run the world with Google
Nothing to do with political correctness it was the Americans that wanted everybody on Google products not watching quality television so they came up with this thing that everything's offensive so basically all quality television was stopped
Nothing to do with political correctness the Americans wanted to take over the world with Google and they couldn't do that while people we're watching quality television so they come up with this thing of everything's offensive so that they can wipe out all the industries and we all end up on tiktok and social media arguing like somebody football team so they can make money but no one else
Cyril was GK's middle name & on Blankety Blanks became his alter ego. In private when he was with friends he'd camp it up in a Cyril-like character to get a laugh & make fun of camp characters.
The set from "Blankety Blanks" was actually copied from the American one. From what I know, that seemed to be the case for a lot of Australian game shows for a while. One exception is "$ale of the Century", where it was the other way around. While Australia debuted its version in 1980, the American one didn't come until 1983.
Hitler would have been proud of Google taking over the world so quickly and pretending that everything was offensive so we no longer have Australian television and only use American products
Having been a devotee, of "Match Game", in the late '70s, it never occurred to me that there might be a "furrin'" edition! This, then, I found quite interesting, to see.
Oh you've met him have you ?you have personal experience of this ? What a hateful thing to say you're just jealous because no one ever pays you any attention you're a boring person from the suburbs with absolutely no talent so you have to go and have a go at the funniest guy on Australian television. so what if he had mood swings you would have mood swings if you had to put up with he did
Yes. "Graham Kennedy's Blankety Blanks" was produced 1977-78 at the studios of TEN-10 in Sydney. Colour TV broadcasting in Australia commenced in 1976, ushered in by the Montreal Olympics.
@Kate 64 I thought for most of the 1970s that television in Australia was in black and white. And this show obviously looks like it's from the 1970s so I just figured that the earliest episodes had to be in black and white.
God I love it ! ! ! ❤. Bring back all the good stuff, like Blankety Blanks. ❤
Wish it was still on. I loved this as kid.
Blankety Blanks - such a good show - lets give our thanks........to Gra Gra and Co !
this was the first show watched on our new colour TV, our eyeballs nearly caught fire.

Cool 👍. I remember the show fondly too, even tho I was a kid, like you. ♥️. Those were the days.

Graham's reaction to Noeline's answer is just priceless!
Pure comedy gold!!!
Oh wow! Cyril! Now if I could only find Peter the Phantom Puller......
Back when TV was worth watching.
Before the yanks took over and made it impossible for local content to exist

Would be magnificent to see him taking the piss in todays world!
He wouldn't hold back that's for sure.
And now his mate Bert has passed. Vale Bert and Graham!

Blankety Blanks, what a good show, we all give our thanks to Grundy and co.
Or Mark Goodson and Bill Todmam for creating Match Game.
@@ABCEasyas--you seem to be very fond of it how about you move back to America and stop being un Australian
Still funny as hell in 2020, probably the best thing in a lock down to watch ,
I’d prefer the American version this show was based off. They call it Match Game.

I regret to say I'm old enough to remember those wide lapels.

lol "let's have a hand for the lights"
I remember this show was massive at the time 😃.
2:35 Did... did Noeline do a "hawk tuah" joke way way WAY ahead of her time?
Late 70's by memory
And now we have Tipping Point! Oh, how far we have fallen!

It was the 0-10 Network, now of course Channel 10, but yep they DEFINITELY should have a classic channel that features these gems!!

This is Adam Brandt from the greens
those were the days.
Just brilliant.
Loved it when I was a kid. They wouldn't have a show like this today. Snowflake cancel culture would get rid of it

We had it in the UK for many years
Have you seen any of the American episodes from the 70s, from "Match Game"? Gene Rayburn was a pretty good host as well.
Ah, But did Graham ever wrestle a camera? :)
The whole idea of watching Australian television was to get away from the American crap

It's called a franchise they sell the rights to the show and most Australian shows did that unless the idea come from Australia

Sue Thompson won a heap of money and games throughout the series and a honey as well
that's a ripper!
I have a lime green shirt with them...
The ABC and SBS which are G funded should both play ALL old Austalian shows
