My wife got me a scepter from Somalia when she was visiting family. It appears they're still used today not necessarily by royalty but possibly for the head of household. it could also be a fashion statement. Just some guesses. I will have to do more asking around. The wood staff portion appears it was refinished or replaced but the metal ends appear older. Possibly reused.
