    10p for a CPU.
Just think how precise these things are made and that fact that you could have ran the world in the 70's with one.

I remember owning a scientific calculator while I was still in School, and that calculator was more powerful than the computer that landed guys on the moon. This was in the late 70's And as an ironic aside I still own a GTX 650. Still works, as far as I know. lol

I remember the GTX 650 TI mostly from how big the jump in performance was from the GTX 650 to the GTX 660 and the TI was just kinda there without too much purpose to me. Then of course the Boost version which was close to the 660.

I bought one of these back around 2017. For what I was doing, it worked quite well. But my games weren't graphically intense, aside from Subnautica (which could ALMOST run on high settings) and Sims 4. It's retired now, though, and mainly used if something doesn't have on-board graphics, or as a "known good" card for diagnostics.

That 650Ti would probably have been really nice in an older build, running older games (think games from the Windows 7 and early Windows 8 era). Unfortunately it is just too weak in anything modern, even if it did have the latest feature set and driver support.
I think you should make a PC build designed for older games, and put this into it. Maybe that Pentium in a 775 motherboard along with 4GB DDR2 and the 650Ti would make for a nice retro Windows XP or 7 build for older games (physical copies, not digital downloads, since Steam no longer supports Windows 7).

    • @andyshtroymish4997

There are a plenty of cheap boards which support DDR3(and that particular CPU should work with it as well as long as I remember), so sticking to DDR2, especially stock 800MHz can be frustrating for Win7 era games...

My first GPU was the vanilla GTX 650 (also by EVGA) the performance at the time was pretty good. It ran Portal 2 and the Walking Dead games like a dream. The most interesting thing about these cards is the 6-pin connector. It doesn't technically need it at all. Before I sold it I pushed this card in MSI Afterburner I was able to play games like the RE:2 Remake. But then I tried Doom Eternal and my computer laughed at me.

I stopped buying gpu's IN STORE with c.e.x. cos when I took one back 6 months later.
Their was some strange behaviour in some games, (not artifacts) I didnt know what was causing it.. the tester guy refused to look at it cos there was a bit of dust in the sink intakes. (5% blocked)
Now I didnt have a temps problem but he threw all the toys out of the pram and ran away into his workshop saying I had overheated it and broke the vram chips.
So I had to mess about and take it to a friend, and it worked fine.
So I cleared the cmos and set this gifted board up again (new cmos batt too) and all was good.. (the card still works today!)
So the guy had just refused to look at it for no good reson afraid it would require a refund.
Actually refusing any responsibility, unhelpful as fxkc. It took me a week to sort this issue..
I knew at this point and after hearing similar stories I would not buy another card from a physical store.

Such a 650ti is perfect for an XP retro PC. The E5200 could be a good match ...

an eleven year old graphics card running the newest version of counter strike at a very playable framerate is quite impressive. Kudos to Valve for the optimization

That was the exact card I had in my first custom PC. It was useless with 1gb memory

I remember playing Half Life 2 just when it came out on my AGP ATI Radeon 9550 256mb when i was young, i obviously didn't have any money back then so i had to deal with it, but it was manageable, as time progressed and the source engine went through its upgrades performance was getting equally worse of course.

A much better dirt-cheap GPU that doesn’t require external power would probably be the RX 550. There’s a 2 GB variant often found for around $40 and a 4 GB variant often around $50. It’s nothing amazing these days, but has fairly recent drivers and can play more games than this poor 650S
