Peru has the third largest rainforest in Lasam and is also the third largest in terms of land area next only to Sicalao and Viga. Altogether, they form the PESIVICA (including Cabatacan Areas), an area of thick, primary tropical rainforest that is the center of biodiversity conservation and protection in the entire municipality.
This critical rainforest is part of the Cordillera mountains transbordering with the 2024 recently-declared UNESCO Biosphere Reserve province of Apayao. That means, we share the richness of their rainforests including as well the territories of the Philippine eagles found in Apayao that may overlap with our skies!
