- The Ferrari F8 is the newest Ferrari and in this review you'll see why I think it's a huge disappointment compared to the 488 Pista and while there is quite a price difference, I think it shows where Ferrari is going as a brand, which I am not a fan of AT ALL.
The Ferrari F8 and The Ferrari 488 Pista stand apart in many ways. Design, function, and overall performance. While the F8 is a pretty car (and does not look like a Corvette C8) it just doesn't come close to giving you the feeling that the 488 Pista gives you. The Pista is just such an incredibly beautiful car, one that has its own energy and you can feel it when you're around it and better yet, when you're behind the wheel.
In this video I show you a complete comparison between the 2 cars and why I think the Ferrari F8 does not compare to the 488 Pista and why if you are in the market for one...you should spend the extra money and get the Pista. Especially a perfect spec like mine.

You clearly don't know what you're talking about! The F8 does not replace the Pista, it replaces the 488 GTB, and even then it should only be in production for about a year and a half until the new model comes in, it is just the end of the line for this V8 !!

That spec is quite odd for a Pista, not my preference. Rossa Corsa just fits so well, however if you want to be a little unconventional Dino Azul it think it’s called looks amazing up close in person.
I'm still waiting to hear why the F8 sucks. You don't mention anything about the drive, the handling, etc. The "Pissta" is a nice unusual color, with a nice interior , but that still has nothing to do with the F8.

I agree with him. I would take a CS, Scuderia, Speciale, or Pista over a 360, F430, 458, or 488...and save up to pay the difference in price. Those cars also hold their value more than the base models. My opinion.

Yes, some "tailor made" cars have an interesting owner configuration...resulting in your value of less...but most (in my experience) are equal to more valuable in the collector's market. If others think it's worth less, that's fine with me...I accept the opinion of others and that will be one less person bidding on the car that I want. Lol

Well, they're the same horsepower so I'd still choose the F8.
Plus with the what it cost to buy a Pista I could buy two F8 the entry level price is only $275K whereas the Pista is $450K.

Got to admit, that is one of the most gorgeous pistas I've seen. The colour combo inside and out is spot on! 👍
I also agree that is one of the hottest LOOKING Pista's I've seen if not THE hottest but I have to disagree about the F8 being like and R8 or Porsche Turbo--F8 is GORGEOUS -- i live in a Beach Suburb full of Supercars and Lux machines -- but I'm telling. you a guy was driving. A Red F8 Tributo and EVERYONE was pacing their cars to stay next to it and gawking their heads off the Car has presence and style and sez FERRARI I also like that the F8 is a good deal larger in looks than the Pisa the thing was taking up the road in imagery -- For a 'base model' I will say the F8 h has a massive Aura. - It's also not really a great comparison WITH THE Pista in THIS instance because the F8 is in White Which is one of the most common car colors on the planet - and the Ferrari 488 Pista is in a Custom Taylor Made Pastel Shade of Blue that has only recently come into Vogue -- I mean that Pista Taylor Made car color almost looks as Good as The Rapid Blue on the Corvette C8 - LOL

GM has been doing that with the corvette for decades. Especially ever since the C6 generation. Go look at how many track records the c6-c7 have broken compared to other super cars.
People don’t but super cars anymore strictly to go fast it’s mainly a status symbol. You can turbo a decade+ old corvette and it’ll outperform every stock super car on the market.

I would prefer the F8 over the Pista even despite the fact that I hate the slits (holes) on the rear windshield which render the car unusable if it's raining. The reason I like the F8 better: it is more practical. I like sports cars but I don't want them to be like race cars on the inside or to be too noisy or to have too low ground clearance. As to putting too much wear and tear on the car on the track, it's better to have something cheaper for the track, like, the Lotus, Porsche Cayman, Corvette, etc., if you can't man up or face up the real deal (= real race cars which are expensive but you can get one at 200-300 grand which requires 10 times higher driving skills than driving civil Lambos, Ferraris or whatever, including LaFerrari, Pista, etc.) So, no, the Pista doesn't cut it in my opinion. It's no race car. It's more of a dummy car for those who can't drive the real deal; it's for civil use and it kinda fails it due to low practicality. So, the F8 wins IMO. But different strokes for different folks or no accounting for taste. If you prefer the Pista, it's what you should get but I would not recommend it unless all you want is tourist/dummy sessions on the track for rich folks with zero race skills, or/and impressing your friends with lots of noise instead of a lot of G forces on the track. I don't need excessive harshness on civil roads. I listen to music in the car, and normally I don't weave through the traffic too much. I got enough speeding tickets already. What's more I don't understand all that frenzy with the noises the engine makes. I want the car to be relatively silent. It's not a motorcycle. And I'm not in the middle of the race. Everybody drives at a snail's pace on public roads - you can fall asleep. Civil cars are also heavy; so you can't corner at very fast speeds because you will crash and total the car. And I got a lot more to say. For example, rear spoilers are decorative gimmicks on civil cars because these spoilers are small and the cars are too heavy. At the same time, I'm not against something like the Radical RXC (actually I love it!!!) but to be honest this hybrid (between the track and civil use - it's a gasoline car) belongs more to the track rather than public roads. I can continue but there's no point.
Personally, I would prefer the McLaren GT with its Bowers & Wilkins audio system and nice interior. Again, I'm not in the middle of race to throw out all the comfy things and sacrifice the nice interior. And the McLaren GT does have a nice interior. It's also a light weight car which is superimportant because all true sports cars should be light in weight to be fast around corners. The McLaren GT checks all the boxes. Well, not really. It still has some traces of what it initially was, and initially it was just a race car (a race car shop, to be more precise). Some nice comfy features are kinda just slapped on but they are sufficient if we don't nitpick. And we should not 'cause it is *the Sports car with the capital S.*
The f8 is at the beginning of its life stage. The pista was the final version of the 488 which is why it’s crazy. Wait a few years and see how the f8 evolves, then you’ll change your mind.

I agree he’s a bit full of himself but if you actually were an unbiased car guy then you’d know that a 2020 C8 isn’t comparable to the build quality of any 2020 Ferrari or Lambo. For real car guys it’s not about price but it’s definitely about (The Experience vs Performance). The C8 is a great value for the cost and performance but going slow in a v12 Ferrari will always be more enjoying than going fast in a Same Ol Same Ol NA v8

That is simply the most ignorant statement of the year. There are some very significant flaws with the 458. You may like the shouty engine, but as a drivers car, it is incredibly flawed compared to the 488 and F8.

The Pista is significantly more expensive and the performance gain is negligible. The F8 has better design too.
Pista is $30k more new. F8 spiders are selling for $600k, but pista spiders are $700k with some listings at $800k which I doubt they’ll sell for.

Lots said about looks and styling; nothing said about performance. What is the performance comparison between the two?
He has done separate reviews of each car. Performance doesnt mean a whole lot on the street. But he hinted in this video, the F8 feels like you're driving an Audi R8 which is a comfortable daily exotic. The Pista is special and more hardcore on the street and obviously would dominate on track.
Best V8 Ferrari based on what to choose is a difficult one. Like do I prefer the rawness of an F430, the creature comforts of the California, Portifino, or Roma, the balance of rawness and comfort of a 458 italia, or the torqueness of 488?

The best thing about a Pista is that it comes with a better sounding exhaust from the factory. Drop a Kline in the F8 and a nicer suspension kit, and it essentially rivals the pista.

I think it's dependant on the specifications of each.one is a track focused variant of the base car vs the base car of a new generation (evolution if you will).
I have no idea if Ferrari will do a "pista"/"challenge" version of the F8 so I think this comparison is in one way flawed.i think in a perfect situation you should have an apple to apple comparison.
There was not 500 Speciales. There are about as many Pistas as Speciales. There was allegedly 499 Speciales Apertas, but we know there are more. There are about 750 Pista Spiders. And frankly, you can of course drive your Pista everywhere. If you don't understand what makes a regular 488 or F8 special, I don't think you understand what there is to appreciate about the F8 and regular 488.
I want to like the Pista but that stupidly huge vent on the hood kills it for me. The Speciale is way nicer IMO, especially when the stripes disappear into the dual hood vents.

The engine is identical, and it’s a fantastic engine. The motivation behind the purchase is more important to look at. The f8 with the pista engine would be a blast to drive around daily, and it’s not a low production car, so of course if you’re worried about value, the pista might loose less value as you put on the miles. But anyone who buys an f8 won’t go to sleep thinking they should have got a pista. They’re both fun powerful cars. Average person can’t even tell the difference between the two, so if a custom color is what gets all the attention, you can get the f8 and wrap it in a wild colour. Just can’t see anyone going wrong with either car.
You can also spec the F8 with the same exact options as the pista, so comparing two cars by their specs is dumb, since you could have them both with the same painted shields, blue colour, brown alcantara etc
