    Another way to make translucent paper is using furniture beeswax (I use Daddy Vans All Natural Beeswax furniture polish). Apply the wax to any paper with a brush and buff off with a soft rag. Your paper will become translucent and have a flat finish

    Love it. Wonder how printing my own words on printer paper and making it resin would do. That could lead to amazing results if you love words and art together, and I DO!!!

    This is a fabulous video. I love when you try a project before I do so that you can share the pitfalls and cautions that you learned. I’d love to see a photo or copy of a photo done like this. Just a little aside but I’m always thrilled when I see a George and Espie’s letters. I feel like we are family.

    I cannot wait to see what you do with these bits. I've coated papers with it in the past, but have struggled with how to use it. I remember using wax paper under it and not having a problem, but I could be mistaken. I love how that phone book paper went so transparent! Anyway, it was fun watching you play and experiment! I hope y'all didn't get too flooded out there!

    What great results! I used to do a lot of beeswax collage and loved getting paper to turn translucent like this. It wasn't quite as see-through, but really lovely.

    Interesting experiment with all the different papers. I am not sure it is something I would use in my art - but it is definitely something worth knowing so I don't have to experiment with it myself. Always been curious about the resin- it is so gorgeous as a sealer- why wouldn't it make some gorgeous papers. I did like your idea to put a page in a book- would be a fun little added bonus to have in there- great idea.

    Great results Tiff! I've worked with resin in jewelry making quite at bit and you can definately use less to mix a smaller amount. I also used it on the Tim Holtz tissue, the part with the butterfly, and it's been just sitting on my table. I've been wanting to use it. Not sure yet how to adhere it in my journal. Sew it, staple it, glue it with matte medium??? Looking forward to see how you'll use yours!

    Hello! Since Ice resin is discontinued, do you know of a resin product or type that would work as well as this? Brand new to resin but after seeing your video I must have some!

    Hey. This is so cool! Great for collage over other pieces. It is high gloss though. Any way to make it a little more matte finish? I know that it would make it less transparent, but that would be okay with me. Thanks! BTW, I’m in North Carolina and we have had some of that tropical storm weather. Lots of rain😊

    How fun! Would acrylic gloss medium work or are there considerable differences in resulting aesthetics and durability? I'm going to give it a try, but I do like the look of the ice resin!

    • @SouthernGalsDesigns
      @SouthernGalsDesigns  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I don’t think you would get the same glass look, but let me know your thoughts when you try it.

  • @catyeah8592
    @catyeah8592 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Oh, what a great video! You inspired me! I'd love to use these in my acrylic paintings! I'm sure I could always finish it with a satin varnish to make everything the same finish......but, the variations in finishes might be interesting as well! Tell me, do you think any product-resistant art mat would work? I have those thin brown mats made for oven use. I'm not sure if they are silicone or what. Big hug for all your work, cat

    Really cool results. Question - the mats you used to apply & dry the resin papers - did any residual resin on the mat just peel off leaving the mat ok for future use?

      Denise great question. I am going to assume that any resin would work although I have zero data to say for sure. I would say try it and see what happens if you have it on hand. Thanks for watching

      @@DeniseLush I save every phone book I get. They're great for using as scrap paper when applying glue to small papers, they can hold media that's not quite dry yet, they are good for pressing flowers, AND, they make great collage paper!!! : ] Hugs!
