    There's Sointula there on Malcolm Island, which lives on in Finnish psyche and popular culture. I don't know, if you know the place or have visited it. Here's a video about it: "CBC News: The National Dreams of Sointula". When the "place of harmony" became less harmonic, Kurikka with twenty or so bachelors formed a community called 'Sammon Takojat' to somewhere 50 km outside Vancouver. Though Kurikka himself traveled soon after to Finland, where he was active in politics for couple of years and got married for the second time before moving back to North America to work as journalist and then later also as a chicken farmer. He passed away in Rhode Island in 1915. Here's Mikko Perkoila's song about the retired Finnish rock musicians' "Sointula": "Mikko Perkoila: Sointula!"

      Thank you for the videos! The history of Sointula is very interesting. haven't been to Sointula but my sister's have been there. It's very close to us here in BC. I'm definitely going, but probably next spring. But, you never know maybe I'll get there this fall.

    Todella kaunista. I would have enjoyed my time there. The nature is so different from Finland, but still beautiful-more to my taste compared to Finnish nature.

    Nice trip but too many opportunities to fall. That trail wooden walkway had so many steep steps and the sauna needed a ramp. Those stairs in the house looked tricky as well. That suspension bridge was a bit scary as well. I love watching nature videos on youtube so I don't have to deal with the mosquitos and HUGE flies.

    • @AnneliSchmidt
      @AnneliSchmidt  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yes! Lots of tripping hazards for sure plus falls! But, we had a nice time and took it easy after the "incident" 😀

    What is the "sauna" thing, how are you in the sauna? As a Finn, I don't understand. The environment and structures in the cabin sauna are as they should be, rough!

    • @AnneliSchmidt
      @AnneliSchmidt  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      It was a terrible sauna! There are many very good sauna's here in British Columbia but that one wasn't one of them. We were sad 🥹
