    When I was a teen, I was taught by my mom that a healthy man who depended on a woman wasn't a complete man. I learned to clean, cook, sew, etc. Now that my wife is disabled, I am honored to do it all for her since she did it for me for over 25 years. Nothing weak about it since I depend on nobody else and can survive on my own and live quite comfortably.

Pregnant women & nursing mothers can't work and can't perform their duties in the NK Army's eyes... When a woman becomes a mother, that child is her priority and not the Army, and that's the problem...

    In North Korea she was a member of the KPA ... Korean People’s Army, which contains all of the branches of their military.

    • @mysticfall_xc
      @mysticfall_xc 3 ปีที่แล้ว +82

      As a person whose native language is Korean, I can confirm that this is correct. For some reason, we used to translate "military" in Korean to an English word "army", even when we don't intend to denote a specific branch of it. It feels a bit strange because we also have a dedicated word for the other meaning, which literally translates to "land military".
      On a side note, there's also a subtle difference between how the word "army" is used between those two variants of Korean languages, although it didn't show in the video. When a N. Korean says "army" it can either mean "military" or just a soldier, depending on the context.

    The first video is a female Marine, not an Army soldier. The "elastic" she used on her boot for the pant leg is called a blousing strap, some pants are made with a built in cord you can tie-but usually only on the expeditionary uniform. That second video bun is out of regulations-it's too far from the back of her head. They make maternity options for all the female uniforms. When a female is pregnant they send her to shore duty because she can't be in combat/deployed. After her maternity leave she is required to be back within weight/fitness standards and will go back to combat/deployment. You're also required to have a family care plan so that your kids are cared for when you're gone. In cases of single parents or when both parents are deployed (i.e. dual military marriages) the parents have to give guardianship to someone else (usually family or close friend) because you can't always take your kids with you where you go.

      It’s gotta be hard for her to watch some of the US military related videos. I know it’s easy to sneer and look down on the people who chose to serve in the military, to try and make yourself feel better about your own life by assuming anyone who joins the military is just one step up from a criminal or cognitively disabled. But when you see the raw and honest reaction from someone like her or her colleagues at Dimple it must come crashing down on them how just a simple change in philosophy would allow the North Korea military to become legitimately professional and be proud of that distinction

She got in a near-fatal motorcycle accident and had to be discharged), but she still lives her life on strict routine. It actually helped my cousin out a lot to have a mom who understands the need for strict schedules. They’re both amazing women. My aunt has a little farm at her house with chickens, goats, cats, I think I remember some turkeys? But she likes to be self-sustaining, which, honestly, inspired me to want to live this way. She likely doesn't know the distinction between the U.S. branches of service, nor that there is a mandated time period for enlisted to live in the barracks before they're allotted on- or off-base housing. I think the fact that soldiers have that option at all is what surprises her, especially when (for the U.S. Army) officers have no requirement to live in the barracks or even on-base. She likely had to live in the barracks for her entire eight years of service, and she states that even officers did as well.

      @sacreblam5711 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@InsomniaCast I appreciate your response but I will state that the title is not misleading as there is no indicator that would cause confusion in the title. She is indeed watching (1) a military woman, and (2) her daily life. There is no set "daily life" for any one division of any military branch, nor for any average soldier. There is a set routine that remains the same across the board, to be sure, but there are (1) enlisted in the barracks, (2) enlisted in on-base housing, (3) enlisted in off-base housing - and if you want to be more specific - there are (4) enlisted in apartments, (5) enlisted in roommate situations, (6) enlisted renting a home, and so on. There is no set standard for entry into any of the military branches either; there is entry through contract, ROTC, dual programs, academies, and others, even excluding drafting. You'd have to have an incredible specificity to what demographic you're talking about, and have that knowledge as someone that is familiar with the U.S. military branches. Dimple is a Korean-based channel, interviewing primarily NK to SK defectors. I suppose what I'm saying is that there is a lingual and cultural barrier that does not account for the "average military life" you're attempting to denote, nor is the title incorrect in any form, so the title itself is not misleading.

    In the states we love our pets a great deal. We treat them, as children. A common saying here is we have a four legged child. My dog never leaves my side, & sleeps with my husband, & I. My grandparents generation never allowed ani.als in the house either. This has come about in the last 30-40 years. Many treat their pets as well as they treat any family member.

    I just got out of the Army. We have PT in the morning. We don't wake up and put on our duty uniform and go to work. We wake up, put on our PT (physical training) uniform and get to formation by 0630. Then we train until 8 then go get a shower and then put on our duty uniform. Even when pregnant, we go to P3T, which is our pregnancy physical training. This soldier you showed getting ready, that is not typical.
    We do take our kids with us, but not to work, we take them to daycare or something. I thought it was very strange that she was waking up and getting right into duty uniform. That's only done when you have staff duty or CQ. I know the soldier in the video is a Marine, but I was pretty sure they do PT too. Strange.

    • @YarielizOrtiz
      @YarielizOrtiz 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, we PT as well. But not every morning/day is the same. It just happened to be that on this particular day I didn’t have PT. If I did I wouldn’t have been able to come home and record it as I lived off base. So it’s not strange at all

      @@YarielizOrtiz I figured there had to be a reason. I wanted to look for the original video but I didn't see a link to it. It is strange to me because in the Army, you don't really see that often and it was being presented like the norm by the people doing the interview in this video. But cool, you don't have to do PT every morning. Must be nice. I dont either now, cuz I'm out. Lol.
