It’s 2023 , still one of the best nostalgic song ever. Reminds me of my high school days. Now married with a beautiful daughter. Life has gone so fast.
Saw these guys with New Found Glory last night at "The Fillmore" in Silver Spring, MD on October 22nd, 2015.... Be jealous! Because the singer from this band told us we were the best crowd, and said that he doesn't just say that everyone! Woohoo! And both bands were fantastic, especially Yellowcard!
+Gannon Rosencrans Saw them at Headliners in Louisville, KY 2 weeks ago. There's something about being in a room with 1,000 people all singing in unison. They still rock my fuqin socks off
+Gannon Rosencrans He also said that to us in LA at the Wiltern the day before their tour was over lol Such a great performance from both bands, though. Awesome experience.
+Gannon Rosencrans He told the same to my crowd in San Diego, CA, the last stop for the tour. He actually mentioned it was great to be home, so hah! Lol jk. They're both awesome!!!!
Ahhhhhh this song, this band, brings back so many memories of so many good times. I was a senior in high school, if I remember correctly, when this came out. That was 2003/2004 and it's 2019 now. Wow, 16 years. Feels like yesterday but also feels like ages ago. I wonder if there's any kids in high school now who love & appreciate music from this time as much as I do. Hopefully
man, 2003 2004 were THE DAYS for this kinda emotional punkrock. before the emo shit, before the mainstream crap. This record, Matchbook Romance - Stories & Alibis, The Ataris - So Long Astoria, Blink 182 - Blink 182, Vanilla Sky - Waiting for Something, Deja Entendu by Brand New. Aaaaaaaah take me back!!!
This was such a jam of mine growing up as a teenager. It was a HARD teenage life and young adult life... Lots of struggle, pain, and mistakes. But here I am married to the love of my life, who loves me regardless of my flaws. Everytime I hear this song I think of my husband. I dedicate this timeless song to him. I look forward to finishing out this life on this plane of existence with him.. Forever him. Beyond death where time is nonexistent, it will always be him. ❤
Your beloved artists EXISTS simply because people had taken a opportunity to listen to these guys! *watch?v=TCnlGhlXXBw* Incredible, ah?? You need to youtube it
I'm 37 years-old this year (2023) - officially entering my middle-age - and I listened to this song on loop for an entire year after their Ocean Avenue CD originally released. I bought it *BEFORE* everyone knew who they were, because I had been a fan of some of their previous songs (like October Nights and For Pete's Sake) from their previous album (One For the Kids) after I had been exposed to it on the 2001 XBOX game *Amped.* 🤙 I remember it was 2004 and instead of starting college that year (Class of 04)... I was instead *REAPEATING* 12th grade (again). I failed my last year of High School and was really depressed over losing my friends as a result; I was also dealing with some (MEGA) heavy/bad stuff going on at home that had me really messed up and in a dark place (partly why I failed in the first place)... and then there was _this girl_ that I had been pining-over (who was two years younger than me) who I had a serious crush on for over two years... but like the movies and songs, she didn't even know I existed (cheer leader type). 😑 So, I remember that I listened to this song (specifically) on repeat over-and-over on the new 'no-skip' portable CD player I bought from my first ever part-time job flipping burgers, for the 1-hour bus ride I had every-single-morning too AND from school, during my senior year to help me cope; Ryan Keys anthems of rebellion and lost loves always made me both empowered... and honestly depressed at the same time (I guess, I was a bit of a reluctant first-gen modern American emo)... 🤷 The funny thing is that this song still hits in a weird way - I know it shouldn't at this point given where people my age SHOULD be in life... but I guess it does for me specifically. I'm 37 and I STILL haven't found that special girl who gets me (Probably won't now), and I still feel out of place with the people around me because I have so little in common with the people my own age. None of the same life experiences, none of the same experiences with relationships, and really little in common financially either... so oddly enough this song STILL depresses me, because it reminds me of days that I never would have imagined I would look back as *'BETTER DAYS.'* 🫡 lol, crazy how life works out. Here's me pouring one out for broken kids, with broken dreams to become my fellow F**ckups screaming into middle-age - let's soak our woes and regret with thoughts of better days: _"Too better days, and better music - here's to those lost kids, those dreamers we used to be, and what could have been if things had been different. They deserved better from the world... but at least they had d@mn good music!"_ 🍺
I’m seeing both yellowcard and simple plan in concert this summer and I feel like it’s healing my inner child because they’re two of the bands who got me through SUCH a rough time in middle/high school. This song gets me every time and I can’t wait to hear it live.
I'm also 37 and feel exactly like you feel brother, it's alright, never lose hope, just keep on cultivating and expanding yourself, some people get married, have kids and all that jazz that normal people do, but later on they start to feel something is missing. People like us, are somewhat going the opposite road but it's ok, just do what you like, people can be happy in a number of different ways that doesn't necessarily involve going the traditional route, it's all part of life.
"im part of an awesome band gotta use my trusty violin to make some great melodies in the background"-violin dude I really like how the violin fits in the music just freat (still amazed about it for years)
From 1998-2008, serving in the Infantry in the United States Army... While others were listening to tracks such as "Let the bodies hit the floor," I was blasting my punk and ska. Almost all of these songs, and so many more. They kept me sane. They still do.
We are similar age, and honestly: I think YOU where the one who had good taste... while all the other guys... they just had Nu Metal. lol. I think time has been kinder to your taste than theirs too. lmao. In the critical hindsight of 2023, History has been much kinder to ALOT of this older punk and emo stuff - which is now considered brilliantly written, soulful, fun and artistic... while stuff like Popa Roach, Mudvayne, Saliva, Incubus, Slipnot, ICP, Drowning Pool, Korn, Godsmack and Limp Bizkit.... well... 🤣 Though to be fair, I also listened to a lot of that cr@p too, back then (like everyone else). lol.
@@mr.selfimprovement3241considering how mainstream music is nowadays any lyrics that are about anything other than doing drugs and sex would be considered "deep" and brilliantly written
i friggin' love this song. yellowcard, simple plan, blink-182, The AAR, good charlotte, sum 41 and paramore. Mann the pop punk scene was lit at the turn of the new Millennium.
This was my song for my very first boyfriend who honestly looked a bit like Ryan. I remember listening to this on repeat after he broke up with me via a note (so leave a note for you, my only one). I laugh about it now nearly 15 years later how lovelorn I was, but I couldn't have asked for a better first boyfriend and a better first kiss (valentine's day on a frozen lake watching the sunset after a day of ice skating). We're still friends on Facebook to this day. Such simple times when your first heartbreak was the most serious problem in life...
@@TonyStark-nw1ll I laugh about it too now which I specifically stated in my comment. Lmao so in the event this is a troll post it kind of failed. But if not, same dude

17 years ago my first love said "yes" to me. The best day of my life! Now she had a daughter but lost her husband. And I thought that it was a good idea to go back to her. But it was a bad idea, so I let her go again. I'm sure she'll be happy without me again. I used to sing this song to her. ☺️

I love this song. I'm almost 40 years old and it's helped me through a lot of good and bad times. What I do love about the videos the fact that even though they were a band with a stage they didn't make it a soap box. Very subtle yet beautiful
"No pads, no helmets just balls", i'll never forget this era of music.... that was the name of this Album, if im correct i think this was on TRLs top ten for a minute ❤
This song came out when I was 17 years old and the first boy who ever liked me asked me to be his girlfriend. He was a sophomore and I was a senior and this was one of his favorite bands. I started to like all of his music... wore his hoodies... made out with him every chance we got... skipped class together... talked for hours on the phone... Needless to say I fell HARD for this kid. So Thanksgiving vacation comes along and we've been together for 3 months. I wanted so badly to make plans to get together with him but it didn't work out. Half way through our week off from school he starts acting fucking weird and tells me "I think you love me too much... I think we should see other people" BRO. When I tell you I played this song on repeat and laid on my bedroom floor dying inside, I'm fucking serious. Still to this day, whenever I hear this song it makes me think of my heart being fucking torn out of my chest and losing all control of my emotions. Everyone deserves a song like that... reminds us that we're real.
@@nathaliaporra I'm bumped to it again and it bought back so many memories to when I use to listen to some Rock and I've been going down memory lane ever since
It's funny how in our childhood we feel so connected to our friends only to realise years later that for most of them this connection was nothing but living in the same neighbourhood, going to same school or other activities and only with one or two (if any) you actually had some mental connection, that, i think, still flows even now, after decades. This song gets me back to that days, when etherything was so simple and getting home in time and your homework done were your biggest concerns. Cheers everyone and thank you, yellowcard, for this emotions back then and now!
I can't remember when but I do remember this woman who shared her story with her bf here in the comments section & how this was the theme song of their love. For some reason I can't remember (I think it was a car crash) the guy died while the lady survived (had it actually been a car crash). I can no longer find the comment as it is a staggering 6K+ & counting but it was one of the most tragic love stories I've ever read. When the guy was buried, she put the CD of Yellowcard on top of the grave to say her final goodbye as she moves on with her life. So now everytime I listen to this song, I'd shed a tear for those two soulmates and contemplate on how tragic their love transpired but that somehow amidst all that tragedy, their love for each other never really died.

It’s 2023 , still one of the best nostalgic song ever. Reminds me of my high school days. Now married with a beautiful daughter. Life has gone so fast.
Let me guess you're around 30 becaus it's the same with myself
This is so good but you must hear “Winding Road” or “A Place Called Here” by SLT 🎸🤘🔥
Happy you’re enjoying life!!! It’s a beautiful thing!!
To the person who's reading this.. I probably don’t know you. But judging by your choice of music, i think we would be great friends.
Best friends.

Hello new friend
Hi there from France new friend 🤘🏻
love this comment💓 couldn't agree more! Namaste family 🕉
Junior year summer break of 06, heard this song just about every day in my room from my CD player Stereo. Simple Times!
I like how they combine classical music with punk rock. It makes them unique from the other bands
omg i love this song and still play it til this day
Ha ha.. didn't surprised me at all
do u still play it? it’s been 4 years
@@skytate8771 I'm just now seeing this reply and it's 2023 now and I am still playing this song.
Saw these guys with New Found Glory last night at "The Fillmore" in Silver Spring, MD on October 22nd, 2015.... Be jealous! Because the singer from this band told us we were the best crowd, and said that he doesn't just say that everyone! Woohoo! And both bands were fantastic, especially Yellowcard!
guess what most musicians say that because you are more likly to like thire band
Yea I am sure they say it to everyone, but whatever, they are both legends man
+Gannon Rosencrans Saw them at Headliners in Louisville, KY 2 weeks ago. There's something about being in a room with 1,000 people all singing in unison. They still rock my fuqin socks off
+Gannon Rosencrans He also said that to us in LA at the Wiltern the day before their tour was over lol Such a great performance from both bands, though. Awesome experience.
+Gannon Rosencrans
He told the same to my crowd in San Diego, CA, the last stop for the tour. He actually mentioned it was great to be home, so hah! Lol jk. They're both awesome!!!!
When you hear this song, you just HAVE to scream along to the chorus no matter where you are, it’s mandatory
RIP Yellowcard :'( This song helped me get through the early 2000s
Helped me get through last summer. They are too good!.
It helped me get through breakups.
helped me thru my pee
helped me to sleep
What you said. Just an all around great band with a Great Sound. R.I.P.
Hopefully
John Layton I was a sophomore in High School so I get you. Time just flys.

yes there is/ I was born in 2000 and i am from Asia.I love this song.Probably nobody knows this band group in Asia)))
Oct. 31, 2023 bigla kong na miss ❤❤
man, 2003 2004 were THE DAYS for this kinda emotional punkrock. before the emo shit, before the mainstream crap. This record, Matchbook Romance - Stories & Alibis, The Ataris - So Long Astoria, Blink 182 - Blink 182, Vanilla Sky - Waiting for Something, Deja Entendu by Brand New. Aaaaaaaah take me back!!!
I think like you man, I want this back too.
Same here man, if there was a time machine man I would take it back in a heartbeat. Oh man how I miss the good old days..
oh man, thank you!
ye that's right man .
wish i was born a few years earlier :(
This was such a jam of mine growing up as a teenager. ❤
Damn, meanwhile my teacher telling me to stop believing in my dreams cause it's impossible for me
I wish punk rock was mainstream again, this kind of music was so awesome. Hard to believe it's been 2 decades since I was a teenager!!
teenage days...now we're 30+..brings back all memories 😢😢😢
I’m right with ya. 38 yrs old ❤grew up on this music
I feel you on that...I'm 35 this year
Feeling you hardcore. I'm 33, soon 34 and i just can't help but cry while singing Yellowcard songs, remembering how awesome life was back then...
Omg the nostalgia, I miss this type of music! It's nonexistent today
It's still around. You just gotta find it.

If you compare this song and today's song. Oh wait, I'm sorry. Todays music is not worth comparing to this one. This one is a Legend.

This is Music, Today's are Muse's SICK.
I'm 37 years-old this year (2023) - officially entering my middle-age - and I listened to this song on loop for an entire year after their Ocean Avenue CD originally released. I bought it *BEFORE* everyone knew who they were, because I had been a fan of some of their previous songs (like October Nights and For Pete's Sake) from their previous album (One For the Kids) after I had been exposed to it on the 2001 XBOX game *Amped.* 🤙
I remember it was 2004 and instead of starting college that year (Class of 04)... 😑
So, I remember that I listened to this song (specifically) on repeat over-and-over on the new 'no-skip' portable CD player I bought from my first ever part-time job flipping burgers, for the 1-hour bus ride I had every-single-morning too AND from school, during my senior year to help me cope; Ryan Keys anthems of rebellion and lost loves always made me both empowered... and honestly depressed at the same time (I guess, I was a bit of a reluctant first-gen modern American emo)... 🤷
The funny thing is that this song still hits in a weird way - I know it shouldn't at this point given where people my age SHOULD be in life... but I guess it does for me specifically. I'm 37 and I STILL haven't found that special girl who gets me (Probably won't now), and I still feel out of place with the people around me because I have so little in common with the people my own age. None of the same life experiences, none of the same experiences with relationships, and really little in common financially either... so oddly enough this song STILL depresses me, because it reminds me of days that I never would have imagined I would look back as *'BETTER DAYS.'* 🫡
lol, crazy how life works out.
Here's me pouring one out for broken kids, with broken dreams to become my fellow F**ckups screaming into middle-age - let's soak our woes and regret with thoughts of better days:
_"Too better days, and better music - here's to those lost kids, those dreamers we used to be, and what could have been if things had been different. They deserved better from the world... but at least they had d@mn good music!"_ 🍺
Can relate #nostalgic
Imiss emo punk era😌🥺i hope there's still people out there who still listening to this kind of music😌 ❤️

This song hits so hard. Reminds me of the good and low days, even in these low days. This song has done so much for me. Thank you YellowCard
ito na naman c my only one na di naman ako🤣
Back in 2004, Yellowcard was the "Only One" for so many popsters. This song really symbolized the young adult years back then.
We were blessed to grow up in this era of music. Helped us to win our moral compass to recognize and pissy sorrow love and friendship.
From 1998-2008, serving in the Infantry in the United States Army... While others were listening to tracks such as "Let the bodies hit the floor," I was blasting my punk and ska. Almost all of these songs, and so many more. They kept me sane. They still do.

We are similar age, and honestly: I think YOU where the one who had good taste... while all the other guys... they just had Nu Metal. lol. I think time has been kinder to your taste than theirs too. lmao. In the critical hindsight of 2023, History has been much kinder to ALOT of this older punk and emo stuff - which is now considered brilliantly written, soulful, fun and artistic... while stuff like Popa Roach, Mudvayne, Saliva, Incubus, Slipnot, ICP, Drowning Pool, Korn, Godsmack and Limp Bizkit.... well... 🤣
Though to be fair, I also listened to a lot of that cr@p too, back then (like everyone else). lol.
@@mr.selfimprovement3241considering how mainstream music is nowadays any lyrics that are about anything other than doing drugs and sex would be considered "deep" and brilliantly written
One of the best songs ever.

i friggin' love this song. yellowcard, simple plan, blink-182, The AAR, good charlotte, sum 41 and paramore. Mann the pop punk scene was lit at the turn of the new Millennium.
"Yellowcard's 'Only One' brings back so many nostalgic memories. This song has a timeless quality that never fails to touch my heart."

I totally feel this 🤣 It really felt like a drama at that age... It actually was!!

@@TonyStark-nw1ll I laugh about it too now which I specifically stated in my comment. Lmao so in the event this is a troll post it kind of failed. But if not, same dude

The memories attached to this song will never be forgotten
@Kate Hudson cringe, zodiac sign.
@Kate Hudson what the fuck
i like zodiac signs too but (???)
kid must be stupid, hope he's a real man now
That's so frustating, but that's true, a relationship wouldn't hold out when the girl loves more than the boy...

Man,
How wrong I was😢
I remember her like it was yesterday.😢
It's funny how in our childhood we feel so connected to our friends only to realise years later that for most of them this connection was nothing but living in the same neighbourhood, going to same school or other activities and only with one or two (if any) you actually had some mental connection, that, i think, still flows even now, after decades. This song gets me back to that days, when etherything was so simple and getting home in time and your homework done were your biggest concerns. Cheers everyone and thank you, yellowcard, for this emotions back then and now!
I feel the same way... also kind of sad.
That's really sad...not to make you feel anymore down but check out Wayne Cochran's "Last Kiss". Sounds just like that story.
Omg thats soo sad😭
Thank you for taking the time to share that memory.

38 years old still listening to this song since 2005, college days..old but gold
Broken this fragile thing now
And I can't, I can't pick up the pieces
And I've thrown my words all around
But I can't, I can't give you a reason
I feel so broken up (so broken up)
And I give up (I give up)
I just want to tell you so you know
Here I go, scream my lungs out and try to get to you
You are my only one
I let go, there's just no one that gets me like you do
You are my only, my only one
Made my mistakes, let you down
And I can't, I can't hold on for too long
Ran my whole life in the ground
And I can't, I can't get up when you're gone
And something's breaking up (breaking up)
I feel like giving up (like giving up)
I won't walk out until you know
Here I go, scream my lungs out and try to get to you
You are my only one
I let go, there's just no one who gets me like you do
You are my only, my only one
Here I go so dishonestly
Leave a note for you my only one
And I know you can see right through me
So let me go and you will find someone
Here I go, scream my lungs out and try to get to you
You are my only one
I let go, there's just no one, no one like you
You are my only, my only one
My only one
My only one
My only one
You are my only, my only one
