I lived for a while in Trondheim ~ 1978, there were large portions of the submarine pens then that were much more obvious and some were used as car parks. I remember going inside of one them and being amazed at the mass of steel and concrete the germans put into this town so far from Germany in just a period of a few years. Also in the hills surrounding the fjord you could find many, many old bunkers, some with pieces of anti-aircraft guns. I visited Trondheim in 2015 and most of these sites have been removed or completely overgrown by forest.
I am just here in Trondheim right now and have been on some bunkers close to bymarka. I suppose they have been used to store ammunition for nearby flak positions. Could you tell me more about the positions of the others, there duty and use if you know? Especially of those who have been removed. I am interested in the history and l like to get an overview about the strategic positioning. would be great if you could tell us something of your knowledge!
@@Gaddsch It's been about 44 years so I don't remember clearly, there was one in a family's garden in Trolla area. I tried to find the house again in 2015, but could not recognize the platform anywhere. There were also sites in bymarka and Lade. Best to find a native, teenagers in the 60s and 70s knew where those sites were.
Mein Opa war in Trondheim stationiert.Er verstarb leider sehr zeitig. Was ich so mitbekommen habe ist, dass die dort oben für Kriegsverhältnisse ein ziemlich ruhiges Leben hatten. Also viel Glück gehabt.
the ship at 1:36 is Hansteen and it is the oldest steam sailship in the world. It is different from a steamers because this was mainly sailing ship, being narrower than stamers. And the steam machine was just an auxiliary power. With a little bit of luck we will take her to the sea this year.
Trondheim was Actually going to be Split in 2 Parts, The Current Trondheim would be for the Norwegians, And the Germans were Building near what is Melhus today, the Other Trondheim, so the German One and the Norwegian One, And the Current would be Named "Old Trondheim" and the Other one by Germans would be named "New Trondheim" You can Actually see Some Buildings of what would have been New Trondheim by the Germans when you Drive to Klætt, Melhus, Orkanger - Ålesund.
