technically no. Taekwondo originates from karate but they have exactly identical moves not more or less. Taekwondo is evolutionary but karate stays the same. Taekwondo is based on science so we relax and only to natural movements and go through movements through sign wave to maximise power. Also the belt systems, decoration and ninjas in this video are all karate not taekwondo

I’ve been taking taekwondo for over 10 years now. I’m a 3rd degree black belt, and I don’t see myself stopping anytime soon. My friend sent me this while I was in Starbucks at my university. I’ve been trying so hard not to laugh and make the people around me think I’m crazy! I was dying when the ninjas were coming out of nowhere. 😂
Guys, yes there is a lot of fusion but if you actually watch the short it is a little bit more understandable. The main character is a Canadian identifying person that finds himself under the wing of a Taekwondo master surrounded by his new environment, a Californian beach that is infested with very skilled Ninjas. So you could say the Canadian is learning to cope and fight for his love in the new Californian environment. Hence the Taekwondo references within a Japanese and Ninja setting. The female lead Sarah is featured as the ex of one of the High Five Rattlesnakes, the Ninjas. Which could explain why she is first seen wearing Japanese garb and then eventually as she falls for the Canadian-Taekwondo-practicing-Gianni, she dons the Korean Taekwondo uniform. You can tell they tried to compartmentalize and even take a symbolic and personal approach to the cultural references. I'm from Korea and I really thank you guys to use "Taekwondo" as a martial arts strong enough to protect someone you love S2 I think some Japanese might think it's not pleasant cause the video is showing ninjas as bad guys... (I'm not Japanese so I'm not really sure...) especially against Gianni learning a Korean martial art as a good guy. For many years Korea and Japan have been awkward and tensed to each other because of history and some present situations, so the song might be controversial a bit for some people But I think it's a good song and funny video! :D not very good at English.. thank you for reading!

Best song I have heard of in a very very very long time. Family favorite and we range from 7 to 59 years old.
All TaeKwonDo martial artists and this just gives us a sense of fun when we are training having it play in the back ground.

I'm from Korea and I really thank you guys to use "Taekwondo" as a martial arts strong enough to protect someone you love S2
I think some Japanese might think it's not pleasant cause the video is showing ninjas as bad guys... (I'm not Japanese so I'm not really sure...) especially against Gianni learning a Korean martial art as a good guy.
For many years Korea and Japan have been awkward and tensed to each other because of history and some present situations, so the song might be controversial a bit for some people
But I think it's a good song and funny video! :D
