I'm a gnostic Christrian and this is a nice easy to listen talk. Gnosticism is such an easy to understand belief foe me. I perceive it has as follows - in order for God/ Oneness to understand itself it needs to become self aware by creating the concept of "seperation", which needs to become self aware out of free choice and remember that it's a fragment of God/ Oneness. The fake concept of the duality of the two "worlds" (oneness/ seperation) is a beautiful thing when you realise it's all an illusion and we are all one - you simply have to treat others how you want them to treat you and have unconditional love and life becomes divine then.

Gnosticism is so fascinating. And from my direct experience, very true. Funny how the mass of Christianity says Gnosticism is heresy. Blind leading the blind. Gnosticism, Advaita Vedanta, real Buddhism, A Course in Miracles, are the same curriculum in different forms. For those yearning for Union and Knowledge I bow to you in love and respect, and pray you find in this lifetime...

It is amazing how much this gnostic version of christianity has in common with modern magick traditions and eastern traditions. The idea of oneness as the highest mode of being and how it is divided from the lower "eons" (compare with the higher spheres of the qabalistic tree of life). The idea that the human spirit is a reflection of "the one" in its truest form but can not see it in the worldly state of mind and so much more. Also the idea of vowels and vibration in rituals is used commonly in modern ritual magick as in the rituals proposed for example by the golden dawn.

The only time Christianity made sense. This filled a lot of gaps about life for me. Time well spent. Even the way he spoke about vowels being from the upper eon (the realm of the one) and constants from the lower eon (realm of Yadabaoth). In singing all the talent and beauty of the music come from the use of vowels. I also noticed Knosis is perfectly compatible with Seven Hermetic Principals. Knowledge of both really opens things up.

The end is where the beginning is, is a beautiful clue. As when you discover in the origional Jewish Torah book of Genesis the very first word is "beginning" and when you discover that Jewish letters all have a meaning of their own, you will discover that Jesus was in this very first word of Genesis. Praise be to God in his majestically magnificent wisdom he put everything in plane sight for those with eyes to see and ears to hear. Jesus said that he told us who he is from the very beginning and He certainly did Hallelujah!!!

Any other Christians on here who understand the textural history of the gospel accounts. Right away with this integration of Matthew, Mark, and Luke and his take on it I see a problem. The three were written about the same accounts but from three different perspectives and this immediately insinuated that they 'copied' from one another. Anyone else notice this issue?

I find it interesting that Gnosticism doesn’t seem to touch on the cross of Jesus Christ. This may just be my own ignorance on Gnosticism, and maybe it does, but was not touched on in this presentation. There does however, seem to be a big emphasis on circles. Makes me think of GK Chesterton’s discussion about the cross vs circle in Orthodoxy:
“As we have taken the circle as a symbol of reason and madness, we may very well take the cross as a symbol at once of mystery and health. Buddhism is centripetal, but Christianity is centrifugal: it breaks out. For the circle is perfect and infinite in its nature; but it is fixed for ever in its size; it can never be larger or smaller. But the cross, though it has at its head a collision and a contradiction, can extend its four arms for ever without altering its shape. Because is has a paradox in its center it can grow without changing. The circle returns upon itself and is bound. The cross opens its arms to the four winds; it is a signpost for free travelers.”
    G.K. Chesterton, Orthodoxy

I was thinking how similar the Gnostic view of Ascension is, to the Bardo of the Buddhists because you meet the wrathful deities and all kinds of deities and you have to know the right words to pass them by and continue on and when you see the light you have to recognize the light as being you and you're not to get distracted by the deities nor anything else for that matter, because that will send you back to the Earth again and another life.

This was wonderful. Thank you so much. Right now I'm reading Revelations of the Unknowable God, a Gnostic text. This book was written by Karen King, one of the academics you mentioned. The parts I understand are so inspiring, and I recognize the higher truth in them. However, I don't think she was clear about who the readers of her book would be. It's written, I gather, primarily for other academics in the field and she doesn't give definitions for all the specialized, technical terms only other academics would understand. I think it's a but disingenuous and deceitful when academics promote and target their books to the general public - but they are filled with technical jargon the author knows very well non-academics will not have a clue what they mean. Still, I gleaned some nuggets of great value from it. I really appreciate that you spoke slowly, paused after making a point so we could reflect on it, and in many ways made the Gnostic codices more understandable. There is so much here to unpack I bookmarked this url and will be watching it over again. Thanks again.

Damnably interesting, I finally feel somewhat educated on this ancient lore. (It almost feels familiar). @ 1:15:00 the mention of "demons" orchestrating movement forcibly reminded me of the "daemons" computers use to organize and execute functions.
While highly irrational, there may even be a kernel of deeper truth buried under all the allegorical imagery. Earth is certainly dank, but I rather balk at the idea that the _entire Universe_ is the misbegotten construct of a misbegotten Entity. That seems...too narrow.
Yet squinting between the lines, I see vague parallels between certain aspects of this and the lunatic-fringe of Edgar Cayce and other dubious "channelled" works and modern apocrypha (like The Roswell Interview), outlining the "Fall" of individuated non corporeal Entities from a higher state; having laid-aside Their powers (so They could "play in the the mud" without vaporizing everything from the power of Their minds) and wound-up trapped and ensnared in Their own creations...and those of other manipulative Entities. While I obviously "believe" in Consciousness, I've become rather ambivalent towards the notion of a singular "God," NDE stories notwithstanding. (The God-concept sure has proven toxic to human affairs, I'm with the Atheists on that fact). Very good presentation, man! It's worth watching again.

I believe that the role/ influence of Egyptian cosmology was glossed over a little hastily and predates what we consider early Christianity/Gnosticism- the Pert Em Hru - outlines a worldview from which you can see the evolution/obsfucation through the geographical political cultural changes in power and obviously- how these dynamics write both History, and Religion... and I notice the thread running through Plato and definitely in the work of Jung- but also ( at least in my opinion ) in writers like Toni Morrison ...So interesting...Fantastic lecture- thank you!!! Your explanations are really impressive with a subject matter so complex.

Yes, very interesting religion and it's truly worth a replay for me.
I find it very interesting and He has truly put together a very good presentation for such an amazing topic.
I'm reminded of St. France and his findings in his message:
"What you are looking for is what is looking".
Thanks for sharing your work, found it very interesting and your presentation was great!

In near death experiences people see a tunnel and then a bright light some even feel endless warmth and love from it and to some it talks and answers questions. I wonder if gnostic teaching are true is that the first Aeon?

I do think however that nobody desiring to practice Gnosticism would stick strictly to ‘the text’.

@@Outlandishoutset Bullshit! What you just said proves that you don't have an understanding. I AM a Gnostic Christian. What I KNOW is not Gnosticism. Gnosticism is the study of knowledge-any knowledge. What I speak is the Gnostic Truth. The words of Christ himself. Not from bullshit religion of which is belief, but from the Christ knowledge that are in the Gnostic gospels of Christ. Christ is a knowledge, not a belief. Believers are ignorant and can be lied to. That is why all must come to KNOW. Maybe! You can see how what makes sense is Truth. What doesn't make sense goes with belief. Peace.
