Nice one reminds me of my early days climbing up side of my house with 18E Tonna on a 20ft ally pole, that plus the weight of Yaesu rotator hairy to say the least 😂
what i did when i had something similar at my mom n dads... have one scaffold permanently mounted to the house and then use a couple of the W shaped connecting brackets... One bolted to the top of the fixed one, and one bolted to the bottom of another one that way I could slide up and down the one pole with the antennas attached down to the roof level.
Been there, done that.....mine was 40 foot of boiler pipe ( same as scaffold pipe ) with a 10/11m 2 El V-quad, rotator and an 18ft 11m vertical on it, for good measure, I was surprised it didn't bend the pipe when we lifted it, but it went up straight and stayed up for over 20 years. At least now you have it up, it's fairly easy to lift it higher, all you do is find a pipe slightly bigger and slide them together, you could raise it above the chimney height quite easily if you do it the simple way. it might need three sets of hands, but a straight vertical lift is easier than that first lift will ever be...put a stop bolt in the lower pipe, lift the mast, slide it inside the bigger pipe until it sits on said bolt, and three spot welds to hold it, just grind the gal coating down to raw metal and tack welds hold fine. You might want a few guys near the top though, that's a fair amount of sail you have swaying about up there, and once that stupid pipe bends, it's bent forever....all you really need though is a 1Kw UHF amp attached somewhere inline, making height irrelevant for most. p.s: NONE of the above should ever be taken seriously, as the Antenna Gods don't like being beaten. They will smite you with lightning strike after lightning strike....
i tried to put my 2/70 antennas up the same way a few weeks back, i tried to do it on my own though, it was only when i'd got the same type of galvanised steel pole most of the way up i realised it was too heavy, it wasn't a controlled descent🤐 needless to say i have one 70cms beam now after the 2m was smashed beyond repair. i won't try again until i've installed a tilt over mast!.
I was going to try to same thing who is playing tennis but I was concerned about the spacing or distance in between each antenna … how many feet did you leave in between each AntennA and does it make any difference???
in UK, you must have a lot of people using VHF, UHF. I live about 50 miles south of Los Angeles, but Not much activity in VHF, UHF. just a few FM repeaters are active. AG6JU
That is the case many places. My suggestion is if you want to use VHF/UHF, use it and encourage friends to use it as well. My primary use for 6m and above is during vhf contests. But I also monitor 146.52 for people activating SOTA.
@@mike-M0MSN Thank you! I've been looking around for an antenna solution for 2M/70cm for a long time seeing that the XYL has vetoed any mention of the word "tower" (which is probably just as well, we have a tiny garden). Some of these poles combined with those K/T brackets seems to be just the ticket. There is hope yet! 😀
Forgive my ignorance, What made you decide to orient the elements horizontally? Is there a particular type of signal you are aiming for? almost forgot, Thanks! Keep the vids coming!

Fantastic neat setup there Mike! Good luck working all the upcoming summer DX mate!
Thanks 👍
looks and sounds great
Great efforts for you and your son. Great job. Well done 👍🏽👍🏽
Thank you so much 😀
Haha! Good job matey!!
Thank Cal, your turn now..🤗
Well done Mike. Glad you did not film the install. I would have had to turn away if you did. I am a big chicken when it comes to heights. 73 Joe
you and me both.... lol
About time you had some proper aerials 😁 You can now give me points from 81 square in the UKACs 👍🏻
Deal!

lol, good idea with the bigger diameter pipe.. :)
Good job Mike!
Awesome 👍
Thanks 🤗

Oops,
Hi Mike,
I applaud you working around those obstacles. What coax are you using for the yagis? 73 WJ3U
Hi Don, Hyperflex 10, into Helix LDF50...
Yes you are very tired but I think also very proud, after all you said you needed a pulley system to get it up…😅😂😅
yep!! lol

50cm between each beam.. :)

Not so much, but. I am hoping that more will join me on the 2M, 70CM Bands..
Hi Mike! Is this tower a single length of scaffold pipe, or did you stack together two or more?
Started as a single length now it is two parts... 6M and 2.5M short length at the bottom

Mike, great job, any interaction do you think having the antennas so close to each other? Is there much activity on 23cms? de Ei2iP, Robbie
Not that I know of, everything seems to be ok.

Yep, Horizontal for SSB on 2M, 70CM and 23cm
I have a vertical for normal use on FM etc...
@@mike-M0MSN Great, so I take it there is a series of videos coming on 2m/70cm/23cm ssb right? That will be very nice!
Does that mean that you will be on the AC competitions on Tuesday evenings?
Yes maybe in the (short) future..... :)
hi mike it was nice to hear you on gb3wr . i wonder if you can work gb3sg i live down in warminster it booms down here 73,s
Yes I can get into GB3SG (Stroud) may catch you on it sometime..:)
