I am so saddened of my rejection letters last round (2014) for graduate school. I have great stats for my GPA (3.76), and good for GRE (V: 148 & Q:154). However, my experience was minimal, and recommendations were good but not great. I accepted this, although I still wanted to try because I KNOW this is what I want. I KNOW I KNOW I KNOW. So then I took a pay cut to obtain a research position to strengthen my experience and LOR. I hope this works for 2015. I really really hope so.

When I was 1 semester thru my 4th year I decided that I wanted to apply for grad school in Clinical Psychology. I was a B+ student, GRE 74th%, got 2 glowing letters of recommendation, 1 from the Dean of my Faculty and 1 from a Physics prof (both with tenure). My 3rd letter was from a relatively new prof, who had suggested I get one from somebody else because he wouldn't be giving me a good one. He said I would NEVER get into Grad school because I wasn't willing to work hard enough (he had already been told by the faculty that he would never get tenure there). Every application I sent was rejected; all said that they had never seen a more terrible one than 3rd prof had sent.

I had a 3.9 GPA and great recommendation letters. Still got rejected due to the large number of applicants. They had over 100 spplicants this one semester when they usually have 100. They also said it would take 3 weeks to make a decision but I got my rejection in less than 6 days...........
Im guessing the interview didnt go so well.

This video provided me with great insight. I am starting my pre-requisite science courses now and planning to apply to MD school in a year. I have found that writing my personal statement is actually very challenging. I watch another video that said writing it and making it like a story in a sensory type method is good. Do you have any advice for writing a personal statement?

Linda, I had a huge issue with my (social) environment that caused a enormous damage to my gpa. Is there any way I can ask you a question and get some guidance?

I, personally, think that my application that was turned in was on point, with the exception of not having a 1,000 in the GRE. Thus, do you think that not having a GRE score above 1,000 will influence the decision of the "committee" (even though everything is outstanding)?

How do these top tier schools look at grade trends? Back in 2012, I was kicked out of school not just once, but twice . The reason was because I failed to meet the academic standards at my school (my cumulative GPA was a 1.7 when I left). But upon returning in 2013, I got very serious about my grades. Now, I have a 3.4, and anticipate my GPA to be at a 3.55 (including courses like Honor's History, Calculus II, and Philosophy for this term). Furthermore, I plan applying, and hopefully landing a position as an executive director of my school's student government. Thank you.

Linda Abraham Thank you very much. I already have a recommendation from my honor's history professor for Brown ( I had him for my western civ class). But I did run into trouble with both my fall and winter terms (both were some of my worst). This was mainly because I was battling severe anxiety, and depression like symptoms. However, I did realize that I needed therapy, so I sought out help. Would they take this into account as well, and look at the context of that situation?

I think 3 happened to me :[. I'm not a minority at ALL and even though my scores and GPA were good I didn't have any "BAM!" factor :[
