I mean we were 2-7 in the ACC at one point and just slayed teams the rest of the way. And guys like Hunter Cattoor.... think he ever dreamed of becoming MVP in the ACC Championship? Someone who isn't emotional after that doesn't have a soul.
I think his point is that they would be really drained after the win -really left it on the floor: which is a compliment - not that they were a bunch of crybabies. This was not "we have unfinished business" mode ACC tourney was the ultimate goal. Now they less than a week to come down from the high, rest, re-group and find an edge again.
Disagree with his analysis. They were spent yes, they'd just played 4 games in as many days. However they aren't going to lay an egg in the first round. For one reason, and it's the same reason they won the acc. They're older and they've learned how to play as a team, handle the ebbs and flows of a game and a season. I could see how what he says could be true for a younger team because that's exactly what happened to doook.
Hokie here, I can see his point, Good teams learn to de-tune conference championships and keep their eyes on the NCAA tournament. They try to build to a peak and they want that peak to happen in the NCAA tournament which is easier when you know you're already in. For VT that ACC championship was everything and that's perfectly great, what March is about. but now have to come down from the high, rest, re-group and find an edge again. There's also a problem with repair mode, you feel worse the day after the day after you knocked yourself out, you really do need to just chill out. I'm still astonished at the four games in four days part but one paradox here is that the guys need to get back in the gym and have tough workouts, don't try to rest up too much, stay in fight mode... you can rest later. I am thinking though there's enough time between Saturday and Friday (good it won't be Thursday) to do that complete re-cycle. Honestly the way they were playing I wished they could have just kept playing...eg next game would have been today. Go Hokies!
@@TheJhtlag yes it was unfortunately. I'm still really happy for them though. Winning the conference tournament was a nice payoff for the work they put in.
