    The more I learn about the body types the more my life makes sense lol. I guess we're attracted to things that mirror ourselves? I'm flamboyant natural and throughout my whole life I've naturally gravitated toward earthy, strong, heavy things. I never liked textures or colors that were too light or 'girly' (lace, chiffon, etc), but I've also never liked things that were too sharp or geometric. I've always loved the bohemian style which seems to fit great with flamboyant natural, and I love big heavy boots and exotic, antique jewelry. It just starts to make sense. Also with colors, I love more earthy colors that have more grey or brown tones to them (like a mossy green or pale grey-green instead of bright lime green). 'Natural' is what I think describes me really well - perhaps the flamboyant is what I have to work on! :p I think if you pay attention to the things you're naturally attracted to, it might help you figure out what your body type is and how to flatter it. Thanks Aly!

      I think it's an interesting observation that we naturally gravitate towards things that mirror us. I've actually always liked simple, elegant things (mixed up with different styles but never in an extreme way) and I'm a classic.

    • @anastasiyawiesmueller2059
      @anastasiyawiesmueller2059 5 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Fellow flamboyant natural here! I weren't really attracted to pieces that fit my type and experimented a lot (ofter unsuccessful), but I always knew those chucky atristic pieces fit me best. This makes so much sense now

    For my fellow TR's- if those pieces look a bit overwhelming to you, especially if your job is very casual, try a lot of delicate and very small pieces all worn at once. For example, a small sparkly swirl pendant with some small sized dangle earrings and maybe a delicate bangle and a few thin rings. I wear a look like this to work every day as a personal trainer, and it pulls me together and puts the elegance on without looking like I'm trying to be somewhere other than the gym. I only wear the real glitzy stuff if I'm going out at night, because it's just too much for the grocery store, you know?

  • @chucksareforshmucks5520
    @chucksareforshmucks5520 5 ปีที่แล้ว +199

    With TR, I think we have it tough because our clothing and jewelry always looks slightly suggestive because of cultural norms. Lace, gothic detail, and "night time " stuff always bugs people because they associate a lot of it with "bedroom activities". Growing up I was urged into more classic styles, or soft-natural things because my parents had an aversion to lace and fitted tops. Turns out I can wear things that look promiscuous on a hanger without necessarily coming off in any suggestive way at all; it actually looks less attention-grabbing than attempting to fit into classic styles that hang boringly off. I've worn leather jackets over lace tops to church and nobody even bats an eye; but if I explained what I was wearing (or planned to wear) verbally without just putting it on and letting people see, they would say it sounds "too extra" or "too provacative". Shopping with other people is a nightmare, it's better to just go in solo and let people see the finished look later. TRs just need to go with their gut/heart on a lot of this and disregard others haha!
    Sorry for the rant :)

    • @frozenraspberries1552
      @frozenraspberries1552 5 ปีที่แล้ว +35

      I wear stuff now that I never would have dreamed of before. Such as lacey body suits for waist emphasis.
      Also, does anyone else as a TR have a difficult time finding ornate clothing or ornate jewelry? It seems to never be available in my city.

    Aly, that sweater is perfect on you!!
    I cannot figure out for sure which body type I am!!
    My hips and chest are both 40 inches wide and I have a slightly defined waistline. So, I'm sort of an hourglass. I wear cup size C and D. The thing is, I am 5'2". My mom used to call me "Doll." I am short-waisted. Lately I've been tucking my tops into my pants, and I'll look longer. My chest looks heavy even when I weighed 115 pounds. I'm about 163 now, but people guess me less than that.
    I'm starting to try color blocking. I think that looks good on me. Monochromatic doesn't seem to flatter me.
    My hair looks best combed out. It is naturally very wavy. A straightener is too hard on my overall look, but if I just comb it out before I dry it, it looks best. I use a round brush on it to help soften it.
    Which type do you think I am?
    I have considered romantic, Theatrical Romantic and soft gamine.
    I am 49 years old.

I’m a romantic body type and there is no part of me that likes intricate, ornate and sparkly jewellery unless I’m going to a wedding. Can you maybe do an updated more modern application of options for each body type? Like casual jewellery, slightly dressier and glam? I think this would be helpful. I find it really hard to wear romantic jewellery because to me it looks really outdated and too much.

      I'm a Romantic, and was sure that studs are for me, because I am small and delicate... But then she said that it won't look that well, because I am also a little wide and fleshy, and that's also true! 😅

    I fall absolutely into classic or soft classic, in this system. But my personal style is bohemian or at least natural, and my lifestyle is waaaay off the classic look. Has anyone had this experience before? What's the answer?! Can all styles fit any lifestyle?

    My face pulls a lot more soft classic, but I think my body is a bit more soft natural. I think this actually makes sense given this video (I know you can't have two Kibbe types!)-- earrings, jewelry on or by my face, etc. look best on me if they're small and delicate. On my body, wrists, etc. more intricate, bolder jewelry looks good! I always appreciate your videos, Aly

    I love this video, and I was surprised to see that the kinds of jewelry that I prefer to wear have soft classic characteristics, which matches my Kibbe body type. Since learning about soft classic lines, I've been really surprised to see that I intuitively tend to wear clothes for my body type, even when I previously thought I was soft gamine.
    I do have a question though, regarding hair for classics. Classics are all about symmetry, but a lot of the time I see soft classics with their hair parted to the side, rather than in the middle. Would having a part in the middle look better than to the side for a soft classic, since it would be more symmetrical?

    • @katyakomlach6171
      @katyakomlach6171 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      As a DC I second this question

    • @gucciasalways
      @gucciasalways 5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Katya Komlach For me, as a DC (I’m thinking, anyway), I tend to wear my hair parted down the middle (curly, since i’ve naturally curly hair but the curls are level on both sides) and have been told it makes me look a lot better. When I part my hair to the side, I tend to look unbalanced and more childlike, not in a good way. That being said, I’ve no clue if it’s the same for other classics, though I wouldn’t be surprised if it is

    • @meriemmimi104
      @meriemmimi104 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      i'm SC and parting in the side looks better on me then parting in the mid

    • @rebekahbechervaise69
      @rebekahbechervaise69 5 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @@meriemmimi104 Same here, and I think I figured out why when I tried to part my hair in the middle this morning.
      My hair naturally tends to part from the side, and so when I try to make it part in the middle, one side of my hair ends up looking fluffier than the other, since it has to go in the opposite direction than it normally grows, which causes an awkward fold.
      Because of this, my hair ends up looking asymmetrical since one side of my hair ends up looking thicker than the other, whereas if I keep my hair parted the way it normally grows, then the amount of volume looks symmetrical.
      I'm sure that if I parted my hair to the middle while it's wet and keep it that way for awhile, the volume would even out and look more symmetrical, so I'm going to try that soon.

    • @laurenk5098

      I would love an answer to this aswell! I change between middle and side parts, but think side looks better on me

    It's true that every design/ lines/ colors looks best with its corresponding body type/ tone but if I can afford all of these jewelries I would wear them all, so beautiful. Same goes for clothing/ bags/ shoes. Maybe because I mainly dress for myself and what makes me happy.
    Or if possible make custom versions of each design to fit my body type/ coloring

    Thank you Aly, you always explain things so well. I am TR (I think) and all those jewellery pieces you just described and shown are my favourite. I have those similar pieces at home and true is that i do wear them in every day style, even when walking my dog! Before I never gave a single thought to it. Isn't it funny how we wear things without thinking ,sometimes? And how we are very often naturally drawn to style that suit us?

    Suggestions for next videos:
    - wedding dresses for the body types
    (I know there is a dress video, but these pretty much have to be monochrome, it's *the* dress)
    - lingerie for the body types
    - basics series (one per each body type; talking about ideal camis, blouses, tops, heels, skirts, trousers, keeping in mind again these cannot be crazy colours/patterns, they have to be plain or be able to be worn with most of your wardrobe; the lbd could be included in this)
