Eric Mal there are some spectacular looking two tone Datejusts around readily available in AD windows with fluted bezels, jubilee bracelets and diamond dials. If that’s your thing then there’s no showstopper like it. Literally laser beams popping off the pieces. As a sign of the times I was in a Rolex Boutique recently and it was just a two tone emporium. No steel models at all, but as the man says, popularity for new models is largely dictated by the hit on your plastic. But if you go to fancy restaurants or a theatre bar unsleeving a blinged out DJ or DD will just blow the minds of all the other diners! Platinum DD with an ice blue diamond dial man, forget about it! Everyone else in the room just go home... 😉
Your channel is the best. What a breath of fresh air. The combination of your wit & humor, plus cool European cities and watch shots is fantastic. Wife and I laughed out loud at the 7 types of watch guys video. Also have a no-date, just picked up the Root Beer this afternoon. I love ❤️ TT Rolex! My Rootbeer which I picked up at an AD with no purchase history cost about the same money 💰 as a batgirl on the gray market!! My bezel action is flawless-maybe Rolex pays more attention on precious metal pieces? I’m also a fan of rose gold which is a little more subdued and understated. Love the channel best regards
Air King does have one thing I love... The hands and dials seem so tightly packed together, much flatter than other watches I've seen.
Great questions, the one of the first watch reminds me of the 80's when I was a young boy and my father gave me a casio calculator or some colorful swatches every now and then, man back then I was amazed with those watches, I only wish he would've known that those watches he gave me make me a watch nerd! Completely agree with your two tone comments. I have a Two Tone GMT - Daytona and Blue - Sub. I love all of them. However; I disagree with your Air King Comments. I believe it has quite a significant following - the current model is a tribute to the Bloodhound Supersonic Car, Rolex has supplied some of the in- car instrumentation. The Air King was originally derived from watches like the Rolex Air Giant; Air Lion and Air Tiger created for the RAF Chaps during WW2 to replace their unreliable service issue watches. That’s quite a Heritage - furthermore I can’t think of any other Rolex Sports Model that can claim an equivalent history. Although it’s different and very Marmite - it was the original Military Aviation Pilot’s Watch created in 1945. Clearly I love my Air King. Great video as ever. Jonathan. I got hold of an Airking and I love it , if one looks at the initial bloodhound project cockpit back up instruments you'll see where they were coming from! What I will say is it should not be your first Rolex purchase. They may well drop the line again soon and to me it could well enter into the Rolex exotica dials. Many will say bollox but you never know in the Rolex dark horse line up what it might do!

I know I’m very late to this vlog but I never really liked TT watches before seeing your TT Sub and Sea Dweller and when you reviewed the Rootbeer I fell hard in love with that watch. My grail watch is now the GMT 2 Rootbeer I really think it’s the greatest watch out there and I’m an Omega fan!

So much to say. Firstly, your wrist suits any watch I’ve seen you wear. Model wrist there... I hope Rolex is wise and hires you as an Ambassador, and consultant. You have an eye for detail and beauty. I love the Oyster Perpetual pink. It’s the only ladies watch that grabs me. Do you think the Rolex drought will end soon? My next trip (post covid) is Zurich. Now I’m adding Geneva so I can see the Rolex headquarters, to photograph. If Rolex can boot Disney down the Forbes List of the worlds most reputable companies, I’m impressed. I couldn’t agree more about Rolex two tones... I have a number of different two tone models and all pop way more than the all steel models I own...
Never been a fan of 2 tone. I'm old enough to remember that they were popular with the got rich quick city trader types in the 1980s and can't shake that association out of my head. That's the great thing about watches though, there's something out there for every taste and budget and the only person you have to justify it to is yourself. Much enjoying your content and keep up the good work.

It depends on the AD and model, there are models like the SS blue SkyDweller where I know for a fact that they do not take any deposits because they only get so very few and cannot guarantee the time of delivery

Totally agree re the GMT bezel! I tried one on in an AD years ago, back when they were around £4k, and the Bezel shocked me by how cheap, almost fake it felt

I have the new batman and did own the 116710 LN , I couldn't really tell any difference in the Bezel, if anything the new batman was slightly better. The winding and setting of the batman was noticeably better as well but to be fair the 116710LN was from 2013 albeit recently serviced. A complete guess but perhaps Rolex are trying to up production and not keeping quality control as tight?

I too didn’t have that Yacht Master on my radar until your video. Now it’s top of my wish list.
Plus, I also watch without owning a watch (yet). I had £2-3 grand to spend, but decided to wait for something I really love for my first one. Looking at spending 10k now (well in a couple months), so will be on the lookout for that gorgeous rhodium dial!

For the 116710LN, the reason it was discontinued had nothing to do with sales. Going forward all GMTs will be bi-color, all Subs monocolor. That’s direct from the reps at Rolex SA during my press brief at Baselworld 2019.

Wow, I must've been lucky, I got mine in 1 month. You'll love it tho, it's very understated but still has slight flashes of glimmer from the bezel indentations... absolutely love it.

My first watch, and my real first watch. Context, I'm 49. I think it was a Mickey Mouse, followed by a Casio red LED digital watch of some type. The first watch I truly loved was my Swatch Clear Jellyfish (GZ010). It was 1983 and I was listening to The Police, Men at Work, and Duran Duran, and I was pretty sure I was the coolest ever. I wasn't, but thought I was. Lol.
Interesting comment around the Batgirl! I'm on the list so hopefully get one in the next year or so. Gotta say I'd be well pi$$ed if I spent nearly 8 grand on a grail watch and the bezel was gritty or grinding

Omega over Rolex every day and I own several of both watch makers. I never have given a deposit and paid cash for my watches...never finance for luxury items...except a car. I like seikos but not enough to own more than three I own.
You can get an AP pre owned if you have a two tone Daytona....my grail watch is the AP safari and you can get a good one for about $15k... if you are patient
When I put my name down for a Sub at my local Rolex AD they asked how I would pay for the watch....I said cash - they didn’t seem happy with that and proceeded to encourage to pay part of it using their credit....and advised I’d be more likely to get the watch sooner if I agreed to that 🤔 - I have purchase history btw with a Tudor 58 & GMT.
They were trying to push you to borrow money so they can earn the interest? That is so super sketchy....

I've recently had a major AD blatantly quote me above MSRP for a GMT, shortly after complaining that their clients make more on these models than they do. I held my tongue but he should go make his money elsewhere and get on the waitlist for years if he prefers that. Self pitying scumbag.
Time to get a new AD. I have purchased all of mine cash down.

What bottle of Super Tuscan 🍷 equates a dive watch such as a Rolex Submariner, Omega Seamaster and Blancpain Fifty Fathoms. Rolex Sub = Ornellaia (personally my favorite) then Omega = Solaia and then Blancpain = Sassacaia (being the original dive watch and the Sass being the original “Super Tuscan”!?
One thought about deposits and full MSRP pre-payments: its basically a floated loan at 0% APR.
A number of us who pre-ordered the Omega Snoopy were asked for 2k, 5k or full MSRP deposits to “hold the place in line”.
I disagree with this practice.

How are you finding the sea dweller on your wrist? Do you find it too bulky and have you knocked it yet? I used to have a 45mm planet Ocean and I was always knocking it on things.

I'm fine with the green plastic box... I must say... I hate buying a new watch with a HUGE box... I'm an avid watch collector with over 20 watches in my collection and storage of these boxes does become an issue. Rolex, don't change anything!

Okay...I very much like you posts. Your videos are great. That said...why have people, like yourself, insisted on calling the GMT Master II BLNR with the jubilee bracelet and slimmed down lugs the Batgirl but, no change was made to the names of other watches? There is no Diet Pepsi or Diet Coke. I understand you may not like it as much but it seems like it is meant as a put down.

I’m admittedly small potatoes but the full PM sports watch has never made much sense to me. You can literally buy two TT sports watches for the price of one full PM. I’d personally go that route every time.

Great content. I’m looking to purchase my first Rolex. Gone for the Datejust 41 - can’t decide on diamond blue face or blue face with stick markers... Will the diamond hold still hold in value or drop compare to the plain blue stick?
They will both hold but the stick will be easier to resell if you need to sell it. Simply because it has a broader appeal. Diamonds appeal to women more, in general.

I paid the Rolex white gold gmt meteorite in full totaling about 43k waited almost a year and was told I would not get it and I got a full refund. Point is again?? And I’ve gotten all my pieces with them. They told me they were informed by Rolex they would not get one in 2020

Seiko = VW Golf - Omega = Porsche! Seiko = Trip to the movies - Omega = flight to Beijing! 🤣 Really? The most expensive Seiko is about $72K usd (platinum case) I reckon I could get a reasonable Porsche for that! Now sure, Seiko produce watches at almost every price point but when considering the technology versus price it's arguably unbeatable. A spring drive, which is a seriously clever design, as a diver or GMT for $5-6K maybe? But would I drop $72k on Seiko....hell no. Just goes to show heart overrules head. I'll keep bleating like a sheep and following the crowd with my moon watch and my subby etc etc. Looking forward to what will doubtless be another stunning review.
Who's spending 72K on a seiko?? I have 4 and the most expensive one is $600. Their most popular is the SKX which is around $200 - $300. Point out the Omega you can find for $200. Oh and by the way, a VW Golf is a badass car and well worth the money. It's not an insult to Seiko. It's just not Omega. Omega is one of the oldest remaining swiss watch brands with an insane history. It's one of the luxury brands. Seiko isn't. Unless you're talking about Grand Seiko... which is almost an entirely different company.

You can’t compare brands, you need to compare particular watches eg id prefer a platinum speed master 321 over a ss datejust 36, even though generally I prefer Rolex over omega
